"Auntie, my mom hasn’t eaten. My grandma brought food for dad, but because my mom made her angry, she had the butler throw the rest of the food into the trash." Elena’s soft voice spoke quickly.

"It’s okay, Elena. Mom’s not hungry." Daisy Willow said. She didn’t have any appetite right now and wanted to go back to the ward as soon as possible to avoid any trouble from her mother-in-law.

She wasn’t afraid of her, but Cole Duncan had just undergone major surgery, and she should take care of him as his wife. Even if their marital feelings had faded, at least their marital bond was still there.

"How could you not be hungry? You should go and eat with us. Anyway, there’s a caretaker with your mother-in-law." Carolline thought that, no matter what, Cole’s mother wouldn’t let her son be mistreated.

"Really, it’s not necessary, Miss Carolline. Thank you. Just watch Elena for me, please." Daisy Willow said, then crouched down to kiss Elena’s forehead before hurrying to the elevator.

Carolline took Elena out for dinner, where they had porridge with steamed buns and some salted vegetables, pumpkin cake, and other snacks. Axel used to like this place.

Elena liked it too, but her worry about her parents made her unable to enjoy the food.

"Auntie, is it true that my parents are getting a divorce?" Elena asked, after reluctantly eating a bowl of porridge and a bun, leaving the pumpkin cake and taro crisp untouched.

"Elena, do you know what divorce means?" Carolline looked at the adorable child in front of her and suddenly felt sad. Why couldn’t she control herself earlier and argue with Cole’s mother in front of Elena? Even if they had to argue, they should have done it when Elena wasn’t there. But that old lady just brought Elena to the ward so late without feeding her. What’s the point of having such a father and grandmother?
