Chapter 326: Chapter 326: Another Bad Thing (6)
At eight-thirty in the morning, Bryan Hawkins finished sending Axel off and bought breakfast for Carolline Ruiz. Outside the hospital, he called her, "Wife, where are you? I bought breakfast and am bringing it for you."
Carolline, who had been feeling depressed all night, finally relaxed a bit when she heard Bryan’s voice and told him where she was.
After she talked to Andy Aguirre, the Duncan family sent someone - an elegantly dressed, affluent woman, who burst into tears when she saw her son’s condition.
Carolline also went to see him and stood outside the door, coldly watching the scene. She didn’t have an ounce of sympathy. When the woman finished crying and asked Lottie Mitchell about her son’s situation, Lottie said he would probably be paralyzed on one side of his body.
The woman immediately fainted. Andy was notified and rushed over to help. It was difficult to wake her up, and when she finally did, she broke down in tears again. It was the first time Carolline was so indifferent to a patient.
After Andy saw this, he took Carolline aside and lectured her about the importance of treating patients equally as medical professionals. As for the moral aspects of a patient’s conduct, even a judge couldn’t solve them, let alone doctors and nurses like them.
"You don’t need to lecture me. I’m not a doctor, and it’s not my responsibility to save or help people. You’ve brought him back to life, can’t I just watch from the sidelines?"
Carolline had just finished speaking when Andy covered her mouth, "Don’t say this kind of thing anymore, okay? You should rest. I’ll ask someone else to look after Jane Auclair."
Carolline looked at Andy’s retreating figure. Would he suspect her of poisoning Jane?
She wouldn’t do it. Those two deserved their fate. She wouldn’t need to add another stab. It was unnecessary.
However, she really didn’t want to take care of Jane. She would be at work the next day, so she didn’t mind if someone else stepped in.
"What are you thinking about? Your mood doesn’t seem to be good." There were only the two of them in the Resting Room. Bryan noticed that Carolline seemed absent-minded and her complexion was off. She hadn’t slept all night, but it shouldn’t make her this out of sorts.
"Do you know who was hit last night?" Carolline looked at Bryan and asked quietly.
Bryan looked at her, and then gave the answer, "Cole Duncan?!"
"Yes, it’s him." Carolline nodded, "And his mistress."
Carolline wanted to tell him that Cole Duncan’s mistress was also the dean’s illegitimate daughter. She used to have a good impression of the dean, but after today, it probably hit rock bottom.
"Are you sympathizing with his wife and little girl?" Bryan reached out, gently taking Carolline’s hand. "Carolline, there are more men like Cole Duncan in this world. Many wealthy bosses have multiple women, and some even abandon their wives and daughters for their mistresses. At least Cole Duncan hasn’t asked Daisy Willow for a divorce, right?"
"...This time, Daisy Willow will probably ask him for a divorce." Carolline admitted that Bryan made sense. There weren’t just a few heartless men like Cole Duncan in this world. Once they had money, many of them had several women around them. In comparison, Cole’s one mistress seemed like a saint among scumbags.
She understood that Bryan was trying to tell her that life wasn’t a fairy tale. There were all kinds of people in the world – some who were loyal and loving, others who had fickle hearts.
Her reaction was so strong because Axel’s good friend, Elena Duncan, was upset. When Elena was upset, Axel would be too, and naturally, as a mother, she would be upset as well.
