"Head nurse, are you alright?" Lottie Mitchell saw Carolline Ruiz standing there in a daze and asked, "Do you know this patient?"

"I’ve seen him twice, but we’re not close." Carolline shook her head and then turned to leave.

As soon as the door opened, Carolline saw Andy Aguirre and knew he was on the night shift tonight.

"You were called in too; your uncle just left," Andy said to Carolline.

"Hmm, I know." Carolline figured if she had been called in, her father naturally would have been called too. "Let’s go to your office; I have something to ask you."

"Alright." The two went to Andy’s office and Carolline began, "Why is Dean Hawkins so concerned about these two patients?"

"You never used to care about such things?" Andy curiously looked at Carolline, who in the past wouldn’t have paid attention to these issues, let alone gossip about leaders or colleagues.

"Well, that was in the past!" Carolline rolled her eyes at him, just wanting to know whether it was the male or female patient that had a connection to Dean Hawkins.

"The woman is Dean Hawkins’ illegitimate daughter. Only my dad, your uncle, and I know about this," Andy revealed. He knew that telling Carolline would mean she wouldn’t spread the news, though she might lose some respect for Dean Hawkins. "Now there’s one more person who knows - you."

"I see. Like mother, like daughter," Carolline’s summary was slightly harsh.

She wasn’t usually a harsh person, but she did not expect Jane Auclair to be the dean’s estranged daughter. She couldn’t understand why Jane couldn’t just live an upright life and be a good person, instead of being someone’s mistress. No wonder her daughter also ended up as a "mistress."

"What’s going on? What happened to you?" Andy quickly noticed something was off with Carolline.

"What about Cole Duncan?" Instead of answering Andy’s question, Carolline asked about Cole Duncan. Had the hospital not informed Cole’s family yet?

There were no family members outside the operation room except for Dean Hawkins.

"You know the guy?" Since it was an emergency, both patients had undergone surgery without their family’s consent. The fact that there was still no family present after such a long time probably meant that the nurses hadn’t managed to inform them.

"Remember your godson’s little girlfriend?" Andy wasn’t the first to call Elena Duncan Axel’s girlfriend. Andy himself had teased Axel about it before.

"You mean that girl named Elena? Axel said the reason they got along so well was that both of them rarely got to see their dads. Thus, they sympathized with each other and became best friends." Andy Anderson certainly remembered the specially-treating girl in his godson’s life. As a godparent, he wouldn’t forget easily.

"Yes, this man is the girl’s father," Carolline sighed.

She couldn’t imagine how Daisy Willow would feel upon learning that her husband was in a car accident with another woman. Carolline felt uncomfortable just as an onlooker, let alone Daisy Willow herself.

"..." Andy finally understood Carolline’s comment about being like mother, like daughter.

"Carolline, we are doctors and nurses, not judges of these matters. You know his name is Cole Duncan, so contact his family to come to the hospital; they need to sign some consent forms."

"Let the Traffic Police notify them. Such a significant accident tonight must have alerted them." Carolline bluntly refused, the first time she had shown a hint of attitude at work.
