Chapter 323: Chapter 323: Another Bad Thing (3)
"I really can’t be at ease letting you go alone this late. I haven’t forgotten what happened before." Bryan Hawkins had already changed his clothes. "You should change too, I’ll drive you. Axel is sleeping deeply. I’ll come back once I drop you off."
"Mmm, thank you." Carolline Ruiz didn’t hesitate and quickly changed her clothes.
Sometimes it was just like this. She was a nurse, and saving lives was her mission. She couldn’t ignore her patients because of personal desires.
Half an hour later, Carolline arrived at the hospital. Henry Ruiz and Andy Aguirre had already entered the emergency room. The dean was waiting outside personally and asked Carolline to prepare for the subsequent tasks when she arrived.
Bryan also knew that Carolline would be very busy tonight. So, he returned home after making sure she had arrived safely. After all, Axel had to attend kindergarten the next day, and it wouldn’t be good if he woke up unable to find both his mum and dad.
All the arrangements for the patient beds and follow-up preparations were personally handled by Carolline. But as the operation continued, she couldn’t help but be curious about the identity of the person who could have the dean waiting outside the Operation Room.
"Head nurse, do you know who’s inside the operating room?" A nurse called Carolline and Lottie Mitchell over. Lottie had also come over after receiving a call even though she wasn’t on night shift tonight.
Lottie didn’t receive the call directly from the dean, but when she arrived and saw the dean and several other hospital leaders present, her heart was shaken by the scene.
"I arrived even later than you, how would I know?" Carolline shook her head, also very curious, to be honest.
In this day and age, is it possible that they’re dealing with someone of equal status to the Hawkins Family who has been involved in a car crash? But if that were the case, shouldn’t those prominent families have their members sent to private hospitals with better conditions?
Their public hospital, no matter how good the conditions, still had limitations, and being understaffed, they had set up a special team to maintain. The dean had really gone all out this time.
In Carolline’s eyes, the dean was generally fair and didn’t abuse his power too much. This was the first time she had seen him act this way.
She had no idea how long the surgery would take, and there wasn’t much for her and Lottie to do at this moment. They couldn’t be of much help inside the operating room.
It was only when more blood was needed for the patient that the two of them might be asked to fetch it from the stock. It was clear that there wouldn’t be enough blood, as car accident victims typically suffered from excessive blood loss.
Soon enough, Carolline and Lottie received orders and delivered 1000cc of blood in total.
When the sky was about to brighten, the life-saving surgery finally ended. At the moment the surgery was declared successful, Carolline saw that the dean was sweating heavily even though the air-conditioning was more than sufficient. She wondered if the person inside the operating room was related to the dean.
As soon as the doors of the operation room were opened, Carolline and Lottie rushed forward to help. They assisted in pushing the patients into their wards. Carolline had arranged for two separate wards, one upstairs and one downstairs. Since they were a public hospital with limited conditions, it was impossible to accommodate the two patients closer to each other.
Henry Ruiz and Andy Aguirre followed closely while the dean ended his call and went to ask Henry, "Henry, how is it?"
"I’m sorry, Dean. In order to save her life, we couldn’t save Miss Wu’s right leg." Henry Ruiz shook his head with a sigh. The right leg had been trapped for too long, and the surrounding nerves had died completely after she was brought in, resulting in the need for amputation.
