Chapter 318: Chapter 318: Little Girlfriend (7)

So, Carolline asked a supermarket staff member to help her ask Axel, it’s a big supermarket and they couldn’t find what they were looking for all by themselves.

"Yes, we have it right here. Please follow me." The supermarket staff member led Carolline towards the Imported Snacks Section. It was a newly developed area, therefore relatively small. Axel didn’t pay much attention to it when he passed by earlier. The staff fetched a package and handed it to Carolline, "Miss, is this what you’re looking for?"

"Um, it probably is. Thank you." Carolline hadn’t examined the cotton candy package closely. From what she remembered, the cotton candy Elena held looked similar. Carolline picked up two packs and then went to find Axel, "Axel, look, is this what you wanted?"

Upon hearing his mother’s voice, Axel rushed over. The sight of the cotton candy in Carolline’s hand made his eyes light up, "Mmhmm! That’s the one. Thanks, mom."

Axel was elated. So overwhelmed with excitement, he became somewhat flustered. He’d kept it a secret so well, how could his mother know that he wanted this?

"You’re welcome. Now, we’ve got what Elena wanted. Is there anything else you need? Hurry up, we need to get home and go bed, time is running out." Carolline gently patted his head. Inadvertently, she mentioned Elena’s name.

"Mom, how do you know that Elena wanted this?" Axel’s face turned red. He felt embarrassed as though his hidden secret was known to his mother. It was such a surprise.

"Who’s Elena?" Bryan Hawkins tuned into the mother and son’s conversation. He couldn’t wait for Carolline’s response and interrupted with a question. He was pretty curious why the mention of Elena made Axel blush so hard.

"Well mother just knows it, and besides, I fully approve of your friendship. Elena is such a cherished girl, right? Now go and pick out some snacks for yourself. Elena might get you something tomorrow. Why don’t you get some of her favorite snacks too?" Cotton candy was Elena’s favorite snack, but she also liked others as well.

"Ok, Mom, I’ll go and be right back." Having obtained the most important item, Axel was overjoyed. He swiftly ran off to get some more things. Choosing was no longer a challenge.

Only when Axel left did Carolline turn towards Bryan and say, "Elena is the prettiest girl in Axel’s class and they are good friends. They often exchange things with each other during kindergarten activities."

"You call that friends? That’s more like Axel’s little girlfriend," Bryan smiled, candidly stating, "I didn’t expect that. Axel is really something, getting a head start in kindergarten already."

"...What do you mean by ’getting a head start’?" Carolline was puzzled for a while, unable to figure out the meaning of Bryan’s words.

"Given the current boy-to-girl birth ratio, there will be a considerable gender gap in the future. They say there’ll be millions of bachelors in twenty years. So, if we want our son to get married, we must get a head start. Luckily our son is so great that he’s already taken the initiative in kindergarten." Bryan said half jokingly, half seriously.

"..." Carolline was speechless. This man was surprisingly concerned about such issues.

It was enough to render her speechless.

Axel came over carrying a lot of snacks and drinks, his arms filled to capacity. A few items dropped along the way and Bryan had to step in to help carry them.

In a rare wave of leniency, Carolline accepted the snacks. Normally, she wouldn’t have allowed Axel to eat things like potato chips and candies. But this was a special occasion, a once-per-term field trip. She decided to let Axel bring them.
