Chapter 307: Chapter 307: His Threat (5)
"Let’s find a time to go to the Hospital," said Bryan Hawkins, his eyebrows furrowing. This was the first time he had noticed how indifferent Carolline Ruiz was about her own health.
"..." Carolline didn’t say anything, but her heart was filled with warmth.
Once they got home, under Bryan’s watchful eye, Carolline took a warm shower. Then they both went to bed. Carolline’s original plan to sleep in separate beds had been put on hold due to the unexpected situation with Celia Wade.
In Bryan’s arms, Carolline fell asleep quickly—she is as peaceful as a newborn baby in her sleep. Under the dim night light, Bryan stared at her in a state of bliss and quietude.
He thought about Bernard Taylor this evening, and Jordy Wade, who continued to go through great lengths for happiness, and felt that he was living in a honey pot.
As such, the little bit of complaints and grievances in his heart disappeared.
——Line Break——
Meanwhile, Avery Graham, after Bryan and Carolline drove off, hurriedly made her way back to the Residential Area where she lived. Only to find herself without her keys at the entrance of the apartment. She emptied her bag, but her keys were nowhere to be found.
She was missing not only her house key but also the key to the Cake Shop—all were strung together. Although she wasn’t worried about not being able to open the Cake Shop on time tomorrow—they had spare keys— she was troubled about where she would spend the night. Was she supposed to sleep on the roadside or go back home?
Ever since she returned to G City, Avery had officially moved out of her family’s house. It wasn’t that she was reluctant to live with her family, but people need to learn to grow up gradually, and sooner or later they have to learn to be independent.
No matter how warm her home was, as she grew older without even a boyfriend, it somehow embarrassed her family. It wasn’t bothersome for her, but it didn’t feel good knowing her family was embarrassed on her behalf.
So, it’s better for her to move back, and visit home during holidays. This way, the neighbors wouldn’t bother her with personal questions.
With no choice, Avery had to go outside and walk around. As she walked, she tried to calm herself down and figure out where she could’ve lost her keys. She remembered distinctly putting her keys into her bag after leaving the Cake Shop before hailing a taxi. After eating at the Hot Pot Restaurant, she noticed that her nail was a bit crooked. She took out the bunch of keys—attached to it was a nail clipper—and clipped her nail at the restaurant.
Then, she put the keys in her pocket. After that, they left the Hot Pot Restaurant. So, the most likely places she could have lost her keys are the Hot Pot Restaurant, on the way out of the restaurant, or in Bryan’s car.
As Avery walked out of the residential area, Bernard Taylor got out of his car. They looked at each other. Avery was taken aback, what was he trying to do?
After hesitating for a while, as if realizing something, Avery quickly walked towards Bernard. Seeing her coming towards him, Bernard didn’t move forward. He just straightened up and waited for her to get closer.
"Bernard Taylor, I didn’t expect you to be this despicable. Give me back my keys." Avery hadn’t figured it out yet. Was this man too idle? He followed them all the way here, even though his house was in the opposite direction. Didn’t he think it was a waste of time?
When they reached her apartment building, he didn’t drive away. He was still waiting here. The only explanation was that the thing she couldn’t find was probably with Bernard. Even if it wasn’t with him, he was likely aware of where her keys were.
"How am I despicable?" Bernard grabbed Avery’s outstretched hand and asked with a smile.
He had picked up the keys from the seat, not stolen it from her pocket. How did he become the despicable person in her mouth?
