"Her husband invited me." Bernard saw that Avery was genuinely curious and didn’t make things difficult for her, pushing all the blame onto Bryan Hawkins.

As a matter of fact, Bernard had bumped into Carolline earlier when he went to People Hospital. He overheard her talking to Avery on the phone. The two friends agreed to have dinner together over the phone, while Avery demanded Bryan’s presence. Avery cheerfully started to order. She had been craving hot pot tonight and ended up at the city’s most luxurious hot pot restaurant. She had been here once before on a blind date. If it weren’t for the date being set at this hot pot restaurant, she might not have agreed to it. Little did she know, she’d run into Bernard during that blind date.

And here they were again, meeting at the same place.

After Avery finished ordering, she intended to call the waiter. However, Bernard, being a control freak, took the menu, carefully reviewed her order, and started to make changes by removing some dishes.
