"Really? Mom agreed?" Bryan Hawkins was somewhat astonished, as he was worried that Carolline Ruiz would still want to drive him out.

Bryan was overjoyed, almost flying to the Heavens, being allowed to stay was great.

When the whole family is together, time always flies quickly. The Ruiz family had a regular schedule, and Axel went to bed at eight o’clock. Bryan lay in bed telling Axel stories.

Bryan carefully covered Axel with the blanket, then quietly left Axel’s room. Henry Ruiz and Emily Hill had returned to their rooms, so Bryan headed towards Carolline’s room. He held the doorknob gently and turned it, but the door was locked.

So, did Axel misunderstand this afternoon when he said that mom agreed to let him stay?

"Yeah, Andy and Kylie Stratton are eating barbecue outside, they didn’t bring their wallets, so I’m going to give them money." Carolline explained.

"I’ll go with you. It’s not safe at this hour," Bryan said and walked to the door, starting to change his shoes.

"No need. It’s just across the street. There’s nothing unsafe," Carolline refused subconsciously. She really didn’t want him to go. If they both went together, who knew what would come out of Megan’s mouth.

"Let’s go together." Bryan insisted, better safe than sorry.

"..." Carolline couldn’t refuse him, and the two of them left the house together.

Seeing the two of them coming together, Megan quickly left Carolline and greeted Bryan, "Come on, Mr. Hawkins, come have a drink. This was specially ordered for you."

Megan did it on purpose. She knew that Andy had punched Bryan in the nose earlier that morning, and it was still swollen. Yet, she asked him to drink wine.

"Well, just one bottle then." Bryan looked at the beer in front of him and didn’t refuse. Megan was Carolline’s friend and Andy’s wife now, "By the way, I haven’t given you a wedding gift yet. I’ll make up for it with a big gift when you have a child."

Bryan promised. After all, they had been married for such a long time now and making up for the gift now wouldn’t be appropriate.

"How big is the gift? I originally wasn’t going to have children, but since Mr. Hawkins said so, I better have one soon." Megan wasn’t picky; she was just more concerned about the gift.

"Hehe, it depends on how soon you have the baby. Within one year, it’ll be this much, within two years, it’ll be this much, within three years, then it can only be this much," Bryan gestured with his hands. If she waited one year longer, her gift would be much smaller.

"Mr. Hawkins, I’ll take you up on that. I promise to have a kid within a year, so prepare the gift money for me," Megan said with a crafty smile. "Now it’s my turn to interview you two, the ex-husband and ex-wife. Is Mr. Hawkins so eager to stay overnight because he wants to be a good dad or a good husband ... no, a good ex-husband?"

Carolline, who was next to him, immediately spat out a mouthful of beer.
