Chapter 277: Chapter 277: Being a Good Dad (7)
What is love? It’s giving the food you most enjoy to the person you love.
This is Axel’s love for Bryan Hawkins.
"Thank you, but Daddy won’t have the chicken leg." Bryan walked over. It was lunchtime, and he’d taken the chicken leg for Carolline.
"Such a Daddy’s boy, it’s great that you love your Daddy so much, but remember not to forget about Mommy, okay? Otherwise Mommy might get jealous." Emily Hill teased Axel’s tiny nose, gently reminding him.
"I haven’t forgotten about Mommy, Grandma. Mommy doesn’t like chicken legs, she says she needs to keep her figure." Axel seriously explained. Before, he saved lots of chicken legs for Mommy, but Mommy never ate them, claiming to keep her figure, so he believed her.
This is because many girls at kindergarten don’t eat fatty food when they are eating, also saying it is to maintain a slender figure.
"What kind of figure does your skinny mom have? She just leaves all the delicious food to you. I remember how much she adored chicken legs. Even in middle school, she would constantly ask Grandma Emily for fried chicken legs after school." Emily reminisced about Carolline’s childhood.
"..." Bryan couldn’t help but glance back at Carolline on the balcony. He realized he knew too little about her and imagined the middle schooler Carolline returning from school asking Emily for chicken legs, which was a beautiful image.
"Daddy, what are you smiling about?" Axel didn’t understand. He put his chicken leg, along with his bowl, on Carolline’s seat. He was surrounded by his parents on each side, feeling extremely fortunate.
"Nothing." Carolline came up at that time and Bryan Hawkins shook his head in denial.
"Let’s eat." Noticing that none of them had started eating, Carolline sat down at her seat and noticed the chicken leg in her bowl. She patted Axel’s head, "What’s the matter, Axel? Don’t want the chicken leg?"
"Mmm, Grandma says Mommy really loves chicken legs. She used to ask for fried chicken legs after school." Axel seriously reported what Emily had just said.
"That was when Mommy was little. Mommy has grown up and no longer enjoys it." Carolline pushed the chicken leg back to Axel, but he pushed it back again. "Mommy should eat it. Axel doesn’t want it today. Axel wants to eat delicious cake later."
"Alright then." Carolline didn’t refuse anymore and accepted the chicken leg.
Bryan kept serving Carolline during the meal, and Carolline didn’t flatly refuse as she did at lunch. The dinner was quite harmonious.
After dinner, Axel and Emily were having cake in the living room. Bryan went to the restroom to clean Axel’s and his old clothes, while Carolline was washing the dishes.
Everyone was carrying out their own responsibilities in a harmonious atmosphere.
While eating his cake, Axel glanced towards the kitchen and whispered to his grandma, "Grandma, is Mommy still mad at Daddy?"
"Why do you say that?" Emily looked up, surprised by his observation. Axel, at such a young age, could tell that Carolline was upset with Bryan.
"No reason, I just want to know. I want Daddy to stay with us tonight, but will Mommy allow it?" Axel still cares a lot about his mom’s opinions, otherwise, he wouldn’t be this concerned about her approval.
"As for your Dad, his clothes are all wet and won’t be dry by tomorrow. Where can he go if not stay here?" Emily comforted him gently. This kid, he’s worried his mom would kick his dad out, isn’t he?
"So does that mean Daddy can stay? Really?" Axel seemed extremely happy. He ran towards the restroom with his little legs, leaned close to Bryan’s ear, and whispered, "Daddy, you can now stay and tell Axel stories."
