Chapter 267: Chapter 267: Shameless (6)

Actually, when she refused the chicken leg, she felt some regret in her heart. The man she had liked for so long was treating her so carefully, and she actually felt quite happy. But she didn’t know what happened in that instant. Suddenly, she didn’t want to accept his kindness and made such an inexplicable move.

She now felt a bit excessive, so when Henry Ruiz yelled at her, she didn’t argue back.

Yet Bryan Hawkins was not only not angry but also appeared to be pleasing her. She couldn’t imagine why he had become like this now.

Could it be that she was used to being abused in front of him, and once he treated her well, she couldn’t accept it?

After dinner, Henry Ruiz and Bryan Hawkins drank tea in the living room while Carolline Ruiz went back to her room to take a nap. Emily Hill cleaned up the kitchen and left for the kindergarten. Before leaving, she told Henry that Carolline didn’t need to pick up the kids in the afternoon.

At one fifty, Carolline woke up and, upon opening the door, heard Henry and Bryan’s conversation. Was he still there?

Carolline turned around and went back into her room, washed her face, and then went to the kitchen to get a red apple. Munching on it, she headed out the door, "Dad, I’m going to work now, and you shouldn’t be late either."

"I know. You go ahead." Henry nodded, checked the time, and said to Bryan, "Bryan, why don’t you go to Carolline’s room and take a nap? When Axel gets home at five, he’ll be thrilled to see you."

"No need, I’ll go with Carolline to work instead." Bryan shook his head and refused, even though he wanted to step into Carolline’s room and spy on her secrets. It seemed that Carolline hadn’t accepted him yet.

"Alright, she has a separate office now. You can go with her." Henry thought for a moment, and then the two of them left together.

After bringing Bryan to Carolline’s office, Henry went to the Outpatient department.

Opening the door, Carolline was busy scheduling all the nurses’ shifts for June. With her full attention on her work, she didn’t notice that Bryan had entered the room.

When she finally finished marking the calendar, she felt a little thirsty. Picking up the cup in front of her and planning to pour some water, she saw Bryan smiling at her, "What are you doing here?"

"You haven’t agreed to my date the day after tomorrow, so I came to ask." Bryan said, still smiling, making Carolline wonder if there was a problem with his cheeks since he couldn’t seem to close them.

"..." Carolline glared at him. Was he going to pester her until she agreed?

"If you don’t agree, I’ll keep bothering you for the next two days until you agree." It seemed that Bryan guessed what she was thinking. "Anyway, I don’t have to work this week. After working for so many years, taking a week off is nothing."

"..." Carolline didn’t mention not letting him take time off. Besides, whether he took time off or not had nothing to do with her. He was just trying to make her agree, otherwise, he would follow her this whole week. "Fine, I agree. Can you leave now? And tonight, can I not see you again?"

Carolline guessed that after she left, Henry would definitely invite him to dinner. If Axel was also around, the four of them would have a lively conversation, and she would be the only odd one out. Just thinking about that scene made her uncomfortable.

After dinner, she had no doubt Axel would invite him to stay, asking him to help with his bath and share bedtime stories. Wouldn’t everything be a mess then?
