Chapter 255: Chapter 255 Unmasking the Lies (3)

"I guess he thought the same way. Tonight, he told me he’s not leaving." Carolline suddenly understood the meaning of Bryan Hawkins’ last words. He probably also harbored a desire to make it up to Axel.

Axel is so adorable, so kind-hearted; even though Bryan appeared before him five years late, Axel quickly accepted him. It is only right for him to make it up to Axel.

"Well, it’s good; there’s no point in a family being so separated." Henry Ruiz finally seemed satisfied. What he really wanted to say was that there’s no point in a married couple living apart like this. Other couples living separately at least meet regularly, but with them, it was different; they have a child, and they’d almost gotten divorced.

The reason Henry Ruiz thought they were arguing was that Bryan Hawkins had previously shown that he wasn’t entirely indifferent to Carolline. Later, their sudden change made him wonder what was going on, but he never asked in detail.

Anyway, the child is growing up, and it’s not appropriate for parents to meddle too much, especially in emotional matters.

"..." Carolline was at a loss for words, thinking that her father hadn’t even listened when she mentioned their divorce earlier.

"There’s so much! Put it all in the washing machine and wash it quickly." Seeing the sofa piled up to the brim, Henry Ruiz suggested.

"I’ll sort them out. Whatever can be washed, I’ll put in the washing machine. Whatever can’t, I’ll wash by hand later." While unpacking, Carolline felt some of the clothes were pure cotton. Although there were many clothes, most of them were summer outfits; a few were Autumn outfits, so washing them by hand wouldn’t be too difficult.

"Alright, your father is going back to his room. Remember to check on Axel in his room later; he tends to kick his blanket off." Henry Ruiz had already taken a shower and was just waiting for the mother and son to finish up; otherwise, he would have gone back to his room much earlier.

"Okay, good night, dad." Carolline agreed and began tidying up the ’gifts.’ After a while, she finally cleared a clean and tidy corner in the dining room.

Emily Hill only called when Carolline was doing the laundry. The activity at her end had just ended, and she complained to Carolline on the phone for a while, "Has Axel gone to sleep? It’s so late already."

"Well, it’s 9:30! How can he not be asleep?" Carolline joked. Because her mother was the leader of the kindergarten, she seemed to become younger whenever she went out with the kindergarten teachers. Emily Hill would even join them for late-night snacks and karaoke.

Those young teachers, some older and some younger than her, insisted on calling Carolline mother and addressing Emily Hill as Sister Emily Hill. Her mother didn’t mind and seemed quite happy to accept it.

"So, did Axel miss his grandma before going to bed?" Emily Hill ignored Carolline’s teasing, focusing only on Axel while she was on a business trip.

Sometimes, Carolline would complain that her mother used to have only her in mind, but now, Emily Hill no longer cared about her when she was away, always asking only about Axel-related matters.

Carolline was bothered by this but was told by Henry Ruiz to remain calm. He had experienced the same thing since the day he became a father and had gotten used to it over the years.

At that moment, Carolline couldn’t help but sympathize with her father, and now, she felt sorry for herself too.

"Of course, he misses you. He even brought you your favorite chocolate cake to eat when you come back tomorrow." Carolline didn’t mention Bryan Hawkins to Emily Hill on the phone. After all, Axel would surely tell her all about it when she returned the next day.

"Really? My Axel is such a good baby. You should go to bed early too. I’m hanging up now." As the last note ended, the call was promptly hung up.
