Chapter 243: Chapter 243 Father and Son Meet (9)

He didn’t expect that Axel would recognize him as his father at first sight. Thinking of how foolish he appeared in front of Axel earlier, he couldn’t help but despise himself. No wonder his son called him a fool.

Even so, he accepted it wholeheartedly.

For so many years, he hadn’t been by his son’s side. He didn’t even know what size clothes Axel, who was nearly six years old, wore. He entered the Children’s Clothing Store and let the owner make recommendations directly.

The owner recommended a lot, and he thought they all looked good. As a result, he purchased about 90% of the recommended clothes. The owner was delighted, as it was rare to meet a customer who didn’t ask for any discounts and bought so much in one go. In the end, the owner voluntarily gave him a 25% discount.

Bryan Cooper didn’t care about such a small discount. He paid with his card, picked up the clothes, and headed out. Then he went to the Toy Store. He didn’t know what kind of toys a five or six-year-old child should play with.

The owner of the toy store saw an opportunity in the clueless Bryan, so he recommended the most expensive brand toys in the store. Without hesitation, Bryan paid for them all. The toy store owner happily collected the money, and Bryan happily carried the toys out of the store.

Having bought clothes and toys, Bryan thought that children couldn’t just be focused on playing, so he also visited the bookstore and bought some books suitable for five or six-year-old children. Feeling satisfied, he left the mall and put everything in the trunk of his car.

A few hours had passed by shopping and buying items, and he’d missed lunchtime, but he didn’t feel hungry. He entered a noodle restaurant, ordered a bowl of Beef Noodles, took a few bites, and began looking forward to 5 PM.

At four o’clock in the afternoon, he received a call from Principal Jin to collect the receipt. He entered the kindergarten again but didn’t see Axel, guessing that he was probably in class.

When he went to the principal’s office to get the receipt, he casually asked, "By the way, Principal Jin, can I take a look at Axel Hawkins’ file?"

"Oh, sure," Principal Jin didn’t think much about it. There were so many children with the last name Hawkins in their kindergarten, and she couldn’t make any connection between Axel and Bryan in just a moment.

Not to mention, if there were any connection, Bryan wouldn’t be investing in their kindergarten when Axel was about to graduate. So, without any hesitation, Principal Jin took out the student file and turned it to Axel’s page.

Bryan looked over the file. Under Axel’s name, the mother’s name read "Carolline Ruiz," but the father’s column was empty.

For a moment, he felt a mix of emotions. In the end, he didn’t say anything, silently returning the file to Principal Jin. "I’ll go now. Just call me when it’s time, Principal Jin. As for what the kindergarten needs, you can discuss it with Principal Qi, and there’s no need to inform me."

"Alright, Mr. Hawkins, you’re too polite." Principal Jin naturally hoped that they could decide on the expenses themselves, since Bryan didn’t understand the kindergarten’s needs.

Bryan turned around and walked away, standing straight in the doorway, waiting for Axel to finish school.

Because of his presence, the parents picking up their children today couldn’t help but take a good look at him. They had never seen such a tall and handsome patriarch; he looked just like a celebrity who had walked out of a TV. Whose parent was he?!

At that moment, Axel happily ran out from inside. He ran the fastest because he wanted to see if his father’s words were true or false.

Would his father receive a phone call during Axel’s class and fly away to another country in a flash?

It turned out, Bryan was a man of his word. He didn’t fly away, but instead stood at the entrance of the kindergarten, right in the front, so Axel could spot him immediately. Axel became even more excited and ran even faster.

As soon as the security guard opened the gate, Axel voluntarily rushed into Bryan’s arms. Bryan cooperated by squatting down and embracing him. "Axel—"

"Dad." Axel buried his head in Bryan’s neck, rubbing against it like a little puppy.

Hearing the word "Dad," Bryan shuddered. He didn’t expect Axel to call him "Dad" so decisively.

"Hmm, my good son," Bryan said, deeply moved. For the first time in his life, he felt such a touching moment.

"Axel, you didn’t lie to us. Your dad is really the most handsome," said one of Axel’s playmates, a chubby boy who walked out together with the other children, looking envious.

The parents around were also drawn to the scene.

"Yeah, Axel, you didn’t lie. I didn’t believe it at first. Now I do. You have the most handsome dad who’s executing the most magnificent mission in the universe. Your dad looks like a Space Warrior," another thin boy chimed in, nodding in agreement.

"..." Bryan’s face turned dark. He was just a businessman, yet in the eyes of these innocent children, he had become a Space Warrior. So he held Axel’s little hand and said to Axel’s friends, "Uncle is sorry, I’ve been too busy these years. I’ve only just come to pick up Axel when he’s about to graduate from kindergarten. It almost led to you misunderstanding him. Uncle apologizes. How about this, on Friday, I’ll treat you to a big meal, okay?"

"Yeah, okay, Uncle is awesome. Uncle is so handsome," the children sweetly flattered with their sweet voices, and finally began looking for their own parents hesitantly.

"Let’s go," Bryan said to Axel.

"Wait a minute, Dad. Mom is coming to pick me up today. Let’s wait for her at the door." Axel held Bryan’s hand and didn’t let him lead him away. Since Grandma wasn’t around today, Mom would come to pick him up.

"Okay," Bryan agreed with a nod.

Carolline arrived a bit late, only leaving the office room at 5 PM and reaching the kindergarten at 5:20 PM. Most of the parents were already gone from the entrance.

She quickened her pace, spotting Axel standing at the entrance along with Bryan. Almost unconsciously, she left her son behind and turned to run.

"Mom—" Axel yelled, but Carolline only ran faster.

Bryan left Axel in the Guard Room, admonishing him not to run around, before he chased after Carolline with long strides.

"Carolline, stop!"

"..." Almost unconsciously, she stopped in place, waiting for him to approach.

He stepped closer slowly, towering above her with his huge frame, blocking the setting sun behind him.

Carolline couldn’t help but raise her head. The remaining sunlight shone on his face, making it impossible for her to see it clearly.

"Why are you running? Do you have the courage to love openly for a lifetime after having secretly been in love for eight years?"

"..."
