Chapter 191: Chapter 191: Coming and Going (5)

"Don’t worry, ma’am, he should have his fever down by tomorrow morning. After that, give him light meals." After giving instructions, Henry Ruiz left the room for the family.

The nurse came over, checked the drip rate of the IV tube, and made a slight adjustment. Seeing so many people in the room, she said, "One person staying for care is enough. Too many people will affect the air quality in the ward."

"Auntie, let me stay." Joyce Lopez immediately said. She wanted to stay by Bryan Hawkins’ side to take care of him, hoping that when he woke up tomorrow morning, the first person he saw would be her.

She couldn’t just do nothing now. She had to show Bryan and the Hawkins family her sincere devotion and her unwavering love for him.

She had been wrong before, thinking that as the princess of the Lopez family, chasing after a man would lower her value. But now she understood that for the man she liked, she should go for it without hesitation. Pride and self-worth were insignificant in the face of love.

"What reason do you have to stay?" The old lady Hawkins was not very comfortable seeing Joyce here, and was even angrier after hearing her shameless words.

Her grandson naturally had a future wife to take care of him. Even if his future wife wasn’t here, the Hawkins family had plenty of people to help, not needing someone from outside.

In the eyes of old lady Hawkins, Joyce was an outsider.

"Grandma Hawkins, can I stay as a friend? After all, Brother Bryan is still my boss, and it’s reasonable for an employee to take care of their boss." Joyce had learned to be clever at this moment, not confronting the old lady while pleasing Sophia Lawson. She believed that it would work.

"This is not office hours. Stop it, we don’t need you. If you stay, what will others think of our family? Bryan’s parents, grandparents, siblings are all here, and there are plenty of servants at home. We don’t have anyone to accompany him, so we have to bother an outsider? What does that look like?" Old lady Hawkins made the final decision.

Anyway, she wouldn’t let Joyce stay.

Old lady Hawkins’ words were reasonable, and Joyce couldn’t argue. She had no choice but to give up for now.

In the end, since Xavier Estrada had been driving for so many hours and was exhausted, the old lady didn’t let him stay to take care of his friend. Instead, she asked Austin Hawkins to call William Hawkins to watch over his older brother for the night.

When William Hawkins received the call, he immediately agreed and drove straight from the office room to the hospital.

After William Hawkins arrived, the Hawkins family left. Joyce had no choice but to leave with them.

Joyce took a taxi in front of the Hawkins family and politely refused their offer to give her a ride home. Old lady Hawkins watched the taxi drive away for at least ten minutes before calling her family to get in their car.

"You’re too hard on little Joyce." The master said to his wife. He knew his wife liked Carolline Ruiz and, to tell the truth, he liked her too. But Joyce was also a child of the Lopez family, and their families had been friends for generations. If Mr. Lopez found out, he would be heartbroken.

"If we’re not strict now, it’ll be harder to untangle later. Bryan won’t like her. We’ve already had a Matilda Ferguson in the past. If there’s another one, who can stand it?" Old lady Hawkins wasn’t worried. The reason she was doing this was because she highly valued the relationship between their two families.

Originally, if they waited until Joyce truly couldn’t let go, it would certainly be more painful for the two children involved, no matter the outcome.
