He said before that if a nurse assigned to him was only interested in being love-struck and not in work, he would want to send her back. But Avery Graham, who had arrived, wasn’t interested in him intrinsically, and over the past dozen days, he knew she held a certain dislike for him. Yet she had still endured his odd habits with a forced tolerance.

In reality, he found it adequate working with Avery Graham and contemplated that when he was back at the hospital, he could help transfer her to his side as a dedicated nurse.

The only reason Avery Graham was furious just now was because of what he had said in front of the patient’s family. It was indeed hurtful, but with such relatives, he could only say something that forceful to make the family truly resolve on a decision. After all, even as a doctor, he could only recommend to the patients and their relatives. It was, ultimately, they who made the decision.

Avery Graham felt he had acted fairly extreme just now and disapproved of him for doing so in front of the patient and the family. For that very reason, he chided her, which provoked her to explode.

Avery exhibited a particularly strong character when angry.

Carolline Ruiz, nearly strangled by Avery Graham, managed to escape from her grip only to curiously ask, "How did you and Doctor Bernard Taylor end up here?"

"Oh, we are transporting a serious patient over here. The conditions over at Betrovd are inadequate hence we followed to assist," Avery Graham explained, momentarily forgetting her annoyance with Bernard Taylor.

"Oh, me too. A patient suffered a severe thigh injury from a hoe; he needs to undergo surgery. Gratan Town can only provide basic disinfection, not such major operations."

"What a coincidence, are you two heading back today?" Avery Graham asked, hoping to seize the occasion to dine and converse in Rosh City.

As soon as Bernard Taylor heard her, he knew what she was implying. He reminded her, "Avery Graham, don’t forget why we are here. We still have to rush back."

"I know the time. When we get back, it will be after working hours anyway, which is my time. I just need to make sure I am back for work on time tomorrow," Avery Graham refuted. She pardoned his arrogance for today, partly for the sake of Carolline.

After all, Betrovd wasn’t too far away; she could return alone. When the time came, she would hire a cab and return.

"Are you sure you don’t want to leave with me?" Bernard Taylor asked coldly. It was the first time he had asked someone’s opinion with such patience. If it were the past, he wouldn’t have asked and would have just left alone.

The slight special treatment he had given to Avery Graham was primarily due to his respect for her capabilities, and the fact that she did not act love-struck in his presence and disrupt his mood.

"I am definite, certain, and affirmative, to the point of begging, Doctor Taylor; you’re supposed to be aloof. Why are you acting so cheap today? Are you sick?" Since Avery exploded today, she decided not to tolerate anymore. What if he was good-looking or from a good family? What did that matter? She, Avery, was not the kind of girl to intentionally draw attention.

Besides, the only idol Avery admired was Carolline’s father, Henry Ruiz. The reason she agreed to work in the countryside so quickly was so that she could gain merit in the eyes of the leader upon return and then apply to be Henry Ruiz’s personal nurse.
