Chapter 181: Chapter 181: Go Find Carolline Ruiz (3)
Megan Clifton was so angry, she chased him back to the dormitory and questioned him in a livid tone. Andy Aguirre didn’t give her an explanation and booked the earliest flight back to his country.
"I just heard that there was an opportunity like this at the hospital, so I applied to come back early. Luckily, the dean over there was easy to talk to." Andy looked into Carolline Ruiz’s shining eyes, but still didn’t have the courage to confess his admiration.
"You’re just fobbing me off." Carolline knew Andy wasn’t telling the truth, but she didn’t force him to confess, "Did Megan cry when you left?"
As far as she knew, Megan had just established a revolutionary friendship with Andy and had been abandoned by him. It would be strange if she didn’t cry.
"You two are really good friends." Andy bizarrely concluded, recalling that he did indeed see tears in Megan’s eyes when he left.
When did this little girl, who always disagreed with him in normal times, develop such a revolutionary friendship?
"Did she really cry?" Carolline somewhat couldn’t believe, after all, they hadn’t seen each other for so long, and people do change over time.
"You guessed it?" Andy was unhappy, when had Carolline learned to tease people?
"Half-and-half, mainly because I wasn’t sure if such a grown-up girl could still cry her nose out." At this moment, Carolline didn’t realize that Megan’s feelings for Andy had already changed during their day-to-day interactions. She regarded Megan as a friend, perhaps a buddy, as their interactions seemed like that.
"..." Andy was completely speechless.
When the lunch break was almost over, Village Chief’s wife came to take the bowl away. While Gavin Campbell was still away, they received a severely injured patient – a farmer in his 40s who had hurt his leg with a hoe, leaving a deep gash. Upon a cursory examination, they could seemingly see the bone.
Andy put on a mask, checked it carefully, and made a decision, "Transfer him to a higher-level hospital, directly send him to the nearest City District."
"To the City Hospital? Doctor Aguirre?" The patient’s family members questioned doubtfully. Their local hospital was inaccessible, and neither was the county hospital. They could hardly afford treatment at the City Hospital.
"It’s safest to go to the City District hospital. I’m afraid the duty doctor at the county and town hospitals won’t be adequate." Andy thought about it and insisted on his decision.
Some family members were unwilling – the income for farmers in Gratan Town was very low, so low that they couldn’t easily afford the high costs associated with hospital treatment.
Therefore, they wanted to wait for Doctor Campbell to return and then decide.
"Rest assured, Doctor Aguirre has returned from abroad, and you can trust his medical skills. Let’s ask the Village Chief to arrange a car and send the patient to the hospital as soon as possible." Carolline was also a trustworthy person, so she tried to help persuade them.
Finally, everyone worked together to carry the patient to the car. Carolline followed, Andy also got in, and they asked those who stayed behind to pass the message to Gavin Campbell. The minivan, carrying two family members of the patient, plus Carolline and Andy, headed towards the nearest Rosh City Hospital.
During the nearly three-hour journey, Andy opened the medical kit and gave the patient simple hemostasis and anti-inflammatory treatments. Carolline helped all the way. Although she had encountered some accident victims during her limited medical career in the surgical department, this was the first time she had seen such a shocking wound.
