Bryan Hawkins asked immediately after, only then did Grandma Hawkins explain in detail what had happened. She had tried to stop Carolline Ruiz but couldn’t because of Carolline’s strong personality.

After all, it was something that would help Carolline’s future, so Grandma Hawkins couldn’t stop her too severely.

"Grandma, I understand. I’ll hang up the phone now. I’ll come back for dinner tonight, but not for lunch." Bryan hung up the phone and then called Director Feng directly.

Seeing Bryan’s call, Director Feng quickly picked up the phone, even though he was in a meeting. He paused the internal meeting and stepped outside the conference room.

"Oh, Mr. Hawkins, what brings you here? It’s been a long time since I received your instructions." Director Feng, who was in his forties, respected Bryan quite a lot.

"Director Feng, I appreciate your kind words. I’ll treat you to a meal someday soon. I’m afraid I might bother you?" Bryan exchanged some polite words before returning to his main point, "By the way, I wanted to ask you about something. I heard that your medical units organized a trip to the countryside, right?"

"Yes, that’s right. What, are you planning to build a hotel in the countryside?" Director Feng jokingly replied while unconsciously rubbing his protruding belly, exuding the air of an official.

"That’s a matter for later. I wanted to ask you about someone. Can you help me check where a nurse named Carolline Ruiz from the People Hospital got assigned?" Bryan didn’t beat around the bush and asked about Carolline directly.

"Carolline Ruiz? Henry Ruiz’s precious treasure?" Director Feng mainly knew the name of Carolline’s father, Henry Ruiz. Moreover, he’d heard that Carolline had volunteered to go to a village with poor conditions. As a result, she impressed all the leaders present.

Originally, Carolline was arranged to be with Bernard Taylor, who also came from a well-off background. They were supposed to go to Betrovd Township, where the overall conditions weren’t too bad. However, Carolline had requested to be transferred to a place with worse conditions, so she ended up going to the most remote Gratan Town in G City with her colleagues from the hospital. There were even poorer places, but Director Feng didn’t want such a delicate girl like Carolline to go there, so he assigned mostly men to those areas instead.

"Yes, that’s her." Bryan admitted openly.

"What’s your relationship with her?" Director Feng asked cautiously. Before, Grandma Hawkins had inquired about Carolline, who had approached someone from their office. And now Bryan himself called to inquire about her. Could it be that Carolline was someone the Hawkins Family had in mind?

If that was the case, it would be a big deal.

"She’s my lifesaver. Her father used to be my grandfather’s doctor in charge," Bryan explained. He didn’t want to make their relationship public until he settled things between him and Carolline.

"So that’s the connection. She’s in Gratan Town, one of the most remote villages." Director Feng informed Bryan of Carolline’s location.

"Thanks, Director Feng. If you’re available tomorrow, we can have a good drink together." Bryan finished talking and hung up the phone without waiting for Director Feng to reply.

Gratan Town, he wasn’t familiar with it, but someone close to him surely was. Tomorrow was his father’s birthday, and he needed to be present. The day after that, early in the morning, he planned to leave for Gratan Town.

He went online and searched for Gratan Town, but information about such a remote place was scarce on the internet.

He closed the webpage, and Xavier Estrada knocked on the door and walked in. The car was ready, and they could leave whenever Bryan wanted to.
