Chapter 1154: 014 Stella Carrington’s Provocation_4
Throughout the journey, the four people sitting in the car had plenty to talk about, and it wasn’t lonely at all, especially since her return to the country had become less frequent after she started high school.
Once home, Stella Carrington assumed the posture of a lady of the house, which was even more pronounced than Elena Duncan’s.
Even though the house’s servants were not familiar with Lady Stella of the Carrington family, they still consulted Elena Duncan’s opinions when faced with Stella’s haughty demeanor.
"You dare not follow my orders and always have to check with her, do you even know you are working for a Carrington, not a Duncan?" Stella scolded the butler in fluent English. She had just asked which floor she would be staying on, they said the third floor, and she, not wanting to climb to the third floor, requested a change to the second floor, yet the servants had the audacity to consult Elena’s opinion, which was infuriating to her.
Butler: "..."
The butler and the servants were slightly stunned. Lady Stella’s temper was indeed fiery. Both the master and the lady of the house were always very polite to their servants. That was why they had been willing to stay employed in this household for so long. If the owners were all like Stella Carrington, they wouldn’t want to work here.
Although they were servants, they had rights and dignity in M Country.
"I’m sorry, Auntie Butler, my sister has a bit of a temper. Please bear with us. Let me talk to her." Elena Duncan apologized for Stella to the butler, then turned to Stella, "The second floor is fully occupied. There are only two study rooms left, and both study rooms have no beds. Only the third floor has bedrooms. Why don’t you go up and have a look? If you’re not satisfied within a week, you can check out my room. If you like it, you can stay there. How about that?"
"Why should I stay in a room you’ve stayed in?" Stella was even more infuriated. Was she trying to make herself look good in front of Axel Hawkins and Evelyn Willow by highlighting her own shortcomings?
"Stella Carrington, what exactly do you want? You’ve been causing drama for so long, aren’t you tired of it yet?" Evelyn Willow was utterly speechless, having endured this woman all the way.
Previously, when Elena Duncan wasn’t in the country, Stella had been somewhat bearable. But the moment Stella saw Elena, it was as if she grew spikes, making her particularly challenging to handle. What more did she want when her sister had considered everything for her and yet she was still displeased?
"This is my house, how I act is my business. Do you think you can interfere? Believe it or not, if I’m unhappy, I can kick you out right away." Stella glared at Evelyn Willow, speaking without filtering her words.
Axel Hawkins frowned, and only then did Stella realize what she had just said, feeling frustrated. It was all because of Evelyn Willow, who was so clueless about the world, trying to set rules in her own home. What right did he have to interfere?
"Huh, really? I’d like to see who dares to kick me out. This is your house? This obviously is the house where Elena and Liam Carrington lived for many years, you’re merely a guest. If you don’t believe me, ask Auntie Butler and the servants of this house, who knows you?" After taunting Stella, Evelyn politely addressed the butler, "Auntie Butler, please, could you take me to my room? I’d like to take a shower first."
"Certainly, Mr. Kent, right this way," the butler led Kent upstairs.
"..." Stella was choked with frustration. She didn’t understand what had gotten into Evelyn Willow ever since the night before her birthday when she had approached him. Since then, in her presence, he had always been sarcastic, driving her to the brink of rage.
When Evelyn left, only the three of them remained in the living room, and just then, Liam Carrington arrived, drenched in sweat.
"Sister, Brother Axel, I’m back," Liam greeted Elena and Axel, pausing upon seeing Stella, then added, "Sister Stella."
"Hah, great, my brother, calling others ’sister’ but his own sister as ’Sister Stella’? Elena, you really have a knack for winning people over. I must admit I’ve underestimated you," Stella did not respond to Liam and self-deprecatingly spoke to Elena.
"For many years, the people living with me have been my family. I call you ’Sister Stella’ out of respect for my sister. If you don’t like it, that’s okay, I won’t call you that anymore. Sister, Brother Axel, I’ll go change my clothes," saying so, Liam rushed upstairs.
"..." Stella hadn’t expected Liam to be so distant towards her. When they hadn’t seen each other often before, she hadn’t noticed. But now, she realized that her absence over the years had cost her her brother.
Elena, really well done, indeed. The grudge between us is now fully established, and it will never be resolved in this lifetime.
Not only did she take away her father, but now even her only brother was taken away by Elena. Elena was truly admirable.
In the end, Stella let a servant lead her angrily back to the room they had prepared for her.
She knew that her unpopularity at the moment wouldn’t yield a satisfactory answer no matter how much she fussed, and it would only serve to completely erase the already limited good impression she had with Axel Hawkins.
She didn’t want that.
Seeing the situation, Elena felt regret, "Axel, do you think I should be the one to leave this house? After all, the university provides housing, maybe I should apply to live on campus when it starts."
The universities in M Country are different from those in her home country; on-campus living requires an application.
"Don’t say that, anyone with eyes can see Stella is targeting you." Axel himself didn’t understand why, despite Stella having previously seemed fine back in their home country, at least outwardly normal, she behaved so hysterically upon seeing Elena. It was truly baffling.
Elena pursed her lips and smiled helplessly.
