Chapter 1126: 009 Simon Carrington’s Outburst_4

When Simon Carrington arrived at Henry Carrington’s house, Shane Auclair had just eaten breakfast alone. She had changed her clothes and put on makeup, sitting in the living room as if she had prepared herself specifically to wait for Simon.

"Oh, look who’s here, my dear uncle-in-law," Shane said with a forced smile as she heard from the servant.

"Hello, sister-in-law." Simon walked in, greeted Shane first, and then looked around, "Isn’t Stella at home? It’s the weekend."

"Yes, it is the weekend. Heidi’s uncle took the two sisters to the Countryside to see the ocean. I didn’t know you would be back today. If you had called us beforehand, I wouldn’t have let them go," Shane said as she instructed the servant to make tea, casually dealing with him.

"..." Simon’s eyes suddenly turned frosty.

Shane, fearless, stepped up to him. It was a good thing someone tipped her off and gave her advice; otherwise, she really wouldn’t know how to restrain Simon. If Simon had taken Stella away, it would only be Heidi and herself left, helplessly crying out with no one to hear them.

For now, at least they had Stella as their trump card, and Simon dared not act rashly.

However, Shane didn’t realize that their presumptuous actions were akin to digging their own graves. Simon wasn’t very angry initially—as long as Henry returned the embezzled funds to the company quickly, by some compromise method, writing an IOU, or deducting it from his salary every month, Simon wouldn’t have gone to extremes, considering their brotherly bond.

But, he had never thought Shane would consider hiding Stella away.

Whether it was hiding her or something akin to a kidnapping, they would see when they found Stella.

"Uncle, don’t be mad. Stella calls us uncle and aunt too; Heidi and she call him uncle. We’re all family. They’ll be back tomorrow. As for Henry, he’s waiting for you to help out. He knows he was wrong. Uncle, considering we’re all family, can’t you just let bygones be bygones?" Shane tried to negotiate with Simon first.

"Let bygones be bygones? Why don’t you explain to me, sister-in-law, what ’let bygones be bygones’ means exactly? We’re not talking about a few million; it’s a billion in deficit." Simon scoffed.

So-called letting bygones be bygones meant doing nothing and just letting Henry return as if nothing happened. Would he then continue gloriously as a branch manager? Then who would bear the loss of one billion to the company? Him?

Initially, he could have taken on fifty million of that, but now they were treating Stella this way, even gaining control over her. They still thought he would just let it go—how could he?

If Simon compromised this time, how would all his cousins see him if they found out one day?

Or maybe, everyone, relying on their Carrington name, would start embezzling billions too. Did the Carrington family still need to exist then, should they even continue to grow?

Shane made it sound so simple with just a flick of her tongue.

"..." Seeing Simon respond this way, Shane knew he was not likely to let Henry off the hook so easily. "Uncle, it’s not like Henry did this on purpose. Look, he’s the eldest of the Carrington family, yet Grandfather bypassed him and handed control of the Carrington Family directly to you, a lawyer. How can you manage such a huge company?"

Seeing Simon unwilling to let the matter go made her uncomfortable. Her husband was the rightful head of the Carrington Family. Grandfather was really senile to have a lawyer come back and run the company, she thought. What business capacity did such a person have?

Her husband could have been CEO. Instead, he was reduced to working in a branch office. It should have been their family going to M Country to enjoy all the welfare, not having to nod and bow to Simon’s family like they do now.

"So, you and my brother think I’m unfit to hold power in the Carrington Family, is that it? Then, the dividends my brother received last year, was he not satisfied with them?" If he wasn’t, Simon wouldn’t mind buying out the Carrington Family shares from Henry’s hands, which would also give him the funds to return the billion deficit to the company.
