Chapter 1122: 008 A new beginning, another storm_5
Now that her father had a new wife, he cared even less about her wellbeing.
Given that, why should she shamelessly go back with them? "Yes, I get along very well with Sister Heidi, and I want to live with them," she said.
Daisy Willow started to say something, but Simon Carrington reached out his hand to stop her, signalling her to remain silent for the moment. He watched Stella Carrington calmly, "Stella, let me ask you one more time, are you sure you do not want to come with us? Remember, even though you are just over six years old and not yet seven, you must take responsibility for your choices. Do you understand?"
"..." Stella Carrington looked at Simon Carrington’s serious expression, momentarily unsure of what to do. She looked up at Heidi Carrington, who also appeared baffled, probably they hadn’t expected Simon Carrington to remain so composed upon hearing Stella Carrington’s words.
Simon Carrington silently observed every expression of Stella Carrington’s. He knew that Irene Houston wasn’t the type of woman to scheme but rather was straightforward and utterly devoted to the one she loved.
He also believed that the biological father of Stella Carrington, who could make Irene Houston so infatuated and attached, must have had his unique qualities. Thus, their child wouldn’t be one to play mind games either.
However, Stella Carrington was not operating alone; apparently, there was someone planning behind the scenes.
Fine. Simon Carrington had seen all the little maneuvers that Henry Carrington had made before but hadn’t taken them to heart. Now, since they let their daughter instigate Stella Carrington, they couldn’t blame him.
"Stella, life requires you to take responsibility for yourself. Looking to others is useless; no one can make choices for you, and no one can take responsibility for your life," said Simon Carrington, knowing his words might be too profound for a child not yet seven years old. However, he needed her to understand, from a young age, that one must be responsible for one’s own life, and no one else can help her in that.
"Yes, dad, I understand. I’m not going with you. I’ve said before, apart from my mom, I won’t accept any other woman to be my stepmother. Since you are so deluded, I think that our home has lost its meaning," Stella Carrington expressed the emotions she had restrained for many days. Previously she didn’t express them because she had no support, but now that she had her uncle’s family’s backing, she didn’t need to hold back anymore.
And now she wanted even less to stay in that home, where she felt like an outsider. Her brother Liam Carrington was a fool, foolishly trying to please them both – she did not want it.
Just like Heidi Carrington had said, she was the real Carrington family young lady; why should she have to beg those two for affection?
"Alright, I will arrange to send your living expenses to your uncle’s family annually," Simon Carrington agreed directly with Stella Carrington’s request and turned to Henry Carrington and his wife, "Cousin brother, cousin sister-in-law, Stella will be your responsibility from now on."
Henry Carrington and his wife: "..."
Both were somewhat stunned, they hadn’t really expected such an outcome.
But on reflection, it seemed like a good thing. At least with Stella staying with them, Simon Carrington, in the future, might overlook their small maneuvers in the company for the sake of their familial ties and for Stella’s sake.
This outcome, although not what they had initially anticipated, was also not bad.
"We all share the Carrington surname, we are one family, Simon, you are too polite," Henry Carrington said with an awkward smile.
"Alright, then I will cancel Stella’s ticket tomorrow. Have you decided when you are returning to Kyoto? I can book tickets for you," Simon Carrington said, pursing his lips.
"No need, we can book them ourselves," Henry Carrington quickly shook his head in refusal.
"To use your own words, we are all Carringtons, one family, so don’t be polite with me. Later, send me your ID card numbers. Liam, how about you? Do you want to go home with dad?" Simon Carrington finished asking, then turned directly to Liam Carrington.
"Of course, the home with mom and dad is my home," Liam Carrington nodded. He recognized Daisy Willow as his mom.
"Good," Simon Carrington finally nodded in relief.
At that moment, Daisy Willow said nothing further; she really wanted to persuade Stella Carrington but knew that if she spoke now, the situation might only worsen.
She also knew Simon Carrington must be feeling very upset, much more than she felt at the moment.
She just hoped that Stella Carrington could come to understand on her own, yet she also realized that the young girl was probably trapped in a dead end.
