Chapter 1065: 026 Newlyweds like nesting swallows, aunt breaks the appointment_11

In the afternoon, with the company of Carolline Ruiz and her friends, Avery Graham’s time passed by quickly so by the evening, the couple had merely greeted their friends briefly without much further social obligations.

After dinner, the two of them stood at the door to see off the guests.

Carolline Ruiz and the others also came out from inside to congratulate them.

There were fireworks in the evening but Carolline Ruiz’s group didn’t stay to watch; not even Bernard Taylor stayed. After most of the guests had left, only those who were staying to watch the fireworks and some relatives who would stay overnight were left.

Avery Graham got into the car, still feeling a bit uneasy, "Should we really be leaving just like this? Is it okay?"

"What’s not okay about it? Aren’t you tired yet?" Bernard Taylor didn’t mind since his parents were there, he felt reassured about everything.

"Alright." Avery nodded, her parents had also come over to urge them to go back and rest early.

Actually, they didn’t have a honeymoon planned for tomorrow because their schedule was already very tight this month; so the couple had no time before their wedding to discuss honeymoon arrangements.

Avery Graham wasn’t particularly looking forward to a honeymoon because both Carolline Ruiz and Celia Wade had discovered they were pregnant during their honeymoons and had to return before it was over.

She worried that she might face the same, so she’d rather not go at all.

The driver dropped them off at their bridal room and when Bernard Taylor got out of the car, he was holding a box, which made Avery feel uneasy—it was a wedding gift from Mona Cervantes.

Mia Parker had opened it earlier and they had tossed it aside; when did it end up in Bernard’s hands?

"Who sent this gift?" Bernard Taylor had already opened the box and seen what was inside, but he didn’t know from whom it was because he couldn’t find the greeting card that Mona Cervantes had written, hence he didn’t know who had sent it.

However, he quite liked the gift. Of course, there was a condition: if it was from someone of the opposite sex to Avery, he would immediately throw it away. Of course, if it was from one of Avery’s close girlfriends, he was quite eager to see what Avery would look like wearing this set of lingerie—it would be quite a seductive scene.

"Why are you holding it? I already threw it away." It had been thrown away, yet somehow it was picked back up. Avery was really fed up with him.

And she was more amazed at herself because she hadn’t noticed at all that Bernard was holding this box in his arms.

"Why throw it away? It’s a pretty nice gift." Bernard smiled, took her hand, "Come on, my good wife, wear it for me tonight."

"..." Avery glared at him, clearly unwilling, "This was from Mona Cervantes. If you think it’s so nice, why don’t you wear it?"

Avery didn’t actually care about Mona Cervantes; now, she intentionally acted upset with Mona to refuse Bernard’s request. She wanted to see what reaction Bernard would have upon hearing that the gift was from Mona Cervantes.

As expected, Bernard immediately threw the gift from Mona Cervantes, along with the box, into the trash can on their floor.

"When did she come to see you? What did she say?" Avery asked with a light laugh, noticing how nervous Bernard looked.

Bernard was indeed very nervous because he was worried about what nonsense Mona might have said.

Just yesterday, Mona had come to their house specifically to celebrate his wedding. His parents were also home, and she came with her parents, then she found a moment to speak to him alone.

She had told him, willingly, that she would serve as his backup, should he ever grow dissatisfied with Avery or grow tired of living with her, he could always turn back to her.

At that moment, he thought Mona was crazy. He was a married man, and yet she was saying these things to him; it was unbelievable, and today, she had somehow managed to see Avery alone, right?

If this woman had spoken out of turn, he definitely wouldn’t let her get away with it easily.

"Are you that worried? Are you two still in contact?" Avery leaned against the wall, deliberately questioning.

"What contact could there be?" Bernard immediately denied it, saying that their interaction was only occasional due to business since they still cooperated with the Powell Family, so sometimes when she came over, they would meet, but it was never one-on-one as there were many others around.

"People say, the faster you deny, the more there’s to hide," Avery said intentionally, noticing that Bernard wasn’t pressing the password, she went ahead, pressed it herself, went inside, and changed her shoes.
