Chapter 1052: 025 In-laws meet to set the wedding date_5

What if her beloved grandson arrived.

"Actually, we really don’t have any demands, my dear in-laws. As parents, we just hope our child can achieve happiness, and this wedding is nothing more than a formality. Our family doesn’t really focus on these formalities," Mr. Graham said.

"That’s true, my dear in-laws. Having you as our family is our honor. Since you’ve said so, we mustn’t let Avery feel wronged. Don’t worry. Despite the rush, a month or so is enough time for us to prepare. We won’t disappoint you," Jacob Taylor promised.

Thus, there were no disagreements about the wedding from either side, and the entire dinner was quite delightful.

All night, Bernard Taylor was taking care of Avery Graham, peeling shrimp and cracking crab for her, and they occasionally held each other’s hands under the table, their intimacy was undeniable, like a couple deeply in love.

The adults saw this but pretended not to.

After dinner, Bernard Taylor drove Mr. and Mrs. Graham, while Nancy Sallow and Jacob Taylor took their family car back to the villa.

As Mrs. Graham got out of the car, she said to Avery, "Avery, get out too. Stay at home with us tonight."

"...Okay," Avery nodded and agreed. Bernard Taylor had to say goodbye to Mrs. Graham and Mr. Graham and then drove away. Mr. Graham spoke up, "What are you doing? Why have Avery stay over for the night? She has to go to the Cake Shop tomorrow. It’s quite distant from here."

"How far can it be? It’s just a short drive," Mrs. Graham countered. "You don’t understand, I just want to give Avery some advice, what did you think? Did you think I would trouble our daughter? Honestly."

"Mom, Dad, please don’t argue. I actually want to stay at home tonight too," Avery persuaded them, playing the peacemaker.

In fact, her hesitation earlier was simply because she was worried that Mrs. Graham would find out that she hadn’t returned for the night. She had only spent two nights with Bernard Taylor, and of course, what was meant to happen, had happened.

Mrs. Graham haughtily lifted her head to Mr. Graham, letting him listen carefully to their daughter’s words.

Indeed, Mrs. Graham knew that Avery hadn’t come home to sleep for two days. She wanted Avery to stay tonight not to pursue the issue of her not returning overnight but to advise her on how to be a good wife, a good daughter-in-law, and a good mother after the marriage.

They were now talking about marriage; times had changed, and not everything had to wait until after the wedding. Mrs. Graham might be traditional and conservative, but she was also capable of moving with the times.

So that night, Avery wasn’t wronged at all, but nestled in Mrs. Graham’s arms, the mother and daughter shared a lot of heartfelt conversations. After advising Avery, Mrs. Graham shared her experiences as a seasoned mother.

Of course, she also admonished Avery not to let herself be wronged.

At midnight, Bernard Taylor sent a text message. He was worried that Avery might be scolded by Mrs. Graham, so he hadn’t gone to sleep yet.

Seeing the text message, Avery laughed, and naturally, Mrs. Graham saw it too.

"Bernard Taylor is indeed a good boy. Avery, you must truly cherish him, understand?" If there had been any doubts about Bernard Taylor before, Mrs. Graham was now completely at ease entrusting her daughter to him.

"Mm, I understand, Mom."

Late into the night, the mother and daughter talked until three or four o’clock before falling asleep.

Avery arrived at the Cake Shop near noon the next day. Bernard Taylor had been waiting there for her for a long time. He had thought about going to the Graham Family to pick her up, but he worried that Mrs. Graham might get angry, so he didn’t dare go.

As soon as Avery showed up, Bernard Taylor approached her, asking with concern, "Are you okay?"

Mainly because he sent Avery a text the day before, and she hadn’t replied, it wasn’t appropriate for him to call, so he worried all night.

"What could have happened? What do you think my mom is?" Avery found this amusing. After all, she’s her mother, not a stepmother.

"Really okay?" Bernard Taylor still wasn’t quite reassured, fearing that Avery had been scolded by Mrs. Graham. He remembered Avery saying their family also had their rules.

"There’s one thing, my mom said I should really cherish you," Avery said with a chuckle. "Did you come here to have lunch with me?"

Bernard Taylor smiled contentedly and, moving closer to Avery’s ear, whispered, "So, tonight we can go back to our own home, right?"
