Chapter 1050: 025 In-laws meet to set the wedding date_3
Bernard Taylor knew Avery Graham was still angry. Although what Avery had said did not sound nice at all, thinking of what she had just experienced, he could understand.
"..." Leo Edwards did not expect to meet someone whose mouth was even sharper than his today. That person spoke so fiercely and left him virtually unable to retort. Damn impressive.
"Bernard, you tell me, isn’t this too much? I don’t know about imported cars, but you should, right?" Seeing that Leo remained silent, Avery directly asked Bernard.
"One million is just an estimate. Who knows, the car repair shop might charge even more than a million. Including the shipping costs to send it out and bring it back, he really didn’t rip you off," Bernard said helplessly.
Leo Edwards was a race car driver and a collector of luxury cars. While others collected stamps as a hobby, he collected limited edition cars for fun, owning many such cars that were probably the only ones in Z Country.
So, the cars he drove were generally not cheap.
Those on the road who knew cars would avoid his cars from a distance, fearing that even a slight mishap could lead to a major loss.
So, Bernard could completely imagine how frustrated the kid must have been when Avery just crashed into the rear of Leo’s car.
After hearing Bernard, Avery was completely dumbfounded. She knew Bernard was not exaggerating. It seemed she really had to dispel disaster with money, didn’t she?
The dumbfounded Avery completely forgot that Leo and Bernard were related; thus, the compensation could probably have been discounted.
"Cousin, we should be clear between brothers. I came back after hearing from my aunt that you were getting married, so I took some time to visit you and attend your wedding. You know the value of this car, and with it damaged like this, you need to compensate me with a new one," Leo said, now that he knew Avery had someone backing her, he really went for the throat.
Avery didn’t know any of this.
"Got it, you just fancy a new car, right? I’ll get someone to handle it, and remember, don’t scare your cousin-in-law like that again. Otherwise, forget about a new car, I won’t even pay for the repairs," Bernard threatened.
"Understood, understood," Leo quickly changed his previously indifferent attitude, smiling warmly at Avery, "Cousin-in-law, my cousin here was absolutely out of line. I didn’t recognize you initially, hence the misunderstanding. Don’t take it to heart, you don’t need to compensate at all. It’s just a little over a million, I can handle it myself. Just relax."
"?" Avery was even more bewildered. How much time had passed for the situation to change so drastically? Wasn’t he insisting on her compensating ten million earlier? How come it had suddenly become a trivial matter of a little over a million?
"Alright, Leo is just messing with you. Be more careful when driving in the future," Bernard advised.
Only then did Avery realize she wasn’t required to compensate, and it was all settled, right?
The traffic police arrived in time, got an understanding of the accident, and with no casualties and both parties agreeing to settle privately, they urged them to clear the lane quickly.
Leo, driving his damaged car, and Bernard, who sat in the driver’s seat, followed by Avery in the passenger seat, drove towards the Taylor Group headquarters. Avery, naturally, did not know that she was spared from compensation because Bernard had to buy Leo a more luxurious car.
Leo had his beloved car towed back, then Bernard arranged for a driver to take Leo back to their villa, while he took Avery to his office room.
Avery, still dazed, entered the Taylor Family premises as Bernard’s fiancée. She mechanically nodded and returned greetings when people said hello, unaware of how Bernard had introduced her earlier.
Adam Taylor heard that Bernard had brought Avery. Honestly, when Bernard was still a doctor, he had met Avery but didn’t have a deep impression of her. So when Avery hadn’t sat in Bernard’s office room for a few minutes, Adam showed up.
"Oh, is this Avery?" Adam said with a beaming smile.
"You’ve met her before. Is there anything you need to report?" Bernard asked coldly, finding Adam’s smile somewhat suspicious.
"I just came to see my sister-in-law. There’s no work to report. Did you two have a fight?" Adam asked, tilting his head and smiling brightly.
