Chapter 1042: 024 Unlicensed driving_2

Avery Graham had just finished asking her question when there was a loud bang, and they saw her head chef, Charles Barkley, setting off a cannon full of colorful streamers above her head, "Congratulations to both shop owners on tying the knot! Speaking of which, I’ve never seen a Z Country Marriage Certificate. Avery, let me have a look and take a couple of photos."

"...Who walks around with their Marriage Certificate in their pocket? Some other time." Avery hesitated for a moment. Could she admit that they actually hadn’t received their Marriage Certificate yet?

Of course, it was a little embarrassing to say such a thing out loud. After all, they had already consummated the relationship—an ’unlicensed driving,’ not covered by the law.

There were also two young misses under twenty years of age working in her store, and she didn’t want to say too much for fear of warping their values.

"Then make sure to bring it tomorrow, okay? Everyone in our group chat has been showing off their Marriage Certificates lately. Even though I don’t have one, it’s okay to show off my boss’s to stop them from bragging. Anyway, congratulations again, wishing you a lifetime of happiness." Charles Barkley said, speaking fluent Z language. He had been in Z Country for some years now.

"..." Avery didn’t know what to say. It sounded like they wanted to give her a reason not to come to the store tomorrow.

In fact, she didn’t need to show up at the Cake Shop every day, but she was the kind of person who couldn’t stay idle at home. She enjoyed visiting the shop whenever she could, baking something herself, and checking on sales.

There was a sense of achievement and happiness when customers bought the creations she had made herself.

Or sometimes, she would bake something nice to take to her friends.

Thinking of this, she realized she hadn’t visited Carolline Ruiz and the others for a while. So, she changed her clothes, went into the kitchen, and personally made several boxes of pastries before heading to Carolline’s house.

Poor girl, all alone at home, nesting—Avery wondered if she felt bored.

When Avery arrived at Carolline’s villa, Carolline was indeed home alone, basking in the sun on the balcony and reading some Parenting Books. Avery was surprised, "You’re about to be a mom for the second time. Do you still need to read these? You should have plenty of practical experience by now, right?"

"When I was pregnant with Axel, I didn’t have any time to read these, but since I bought them, might as well have a look. Though, some of the stuff these experts say is like farting in the wind," Carolline said with a chuckle, eyeing the cakes Avery brought with craving eyes. When Bryan Hawkins left, she had told him to bring her some pastries on his return, and now Avery had arrived today. Their timing couldn’t have been more in sync.

"Those experts, I guess some of them haven’t even been mothers, and others probably don’t even know how to get pregnant; they just spout nonsense. Got a craving? I’ve brought Egg Tarts, sandwiches, little cakes, and puffs. What do you want?" Avery too didn’t trust the so-called experts. Nowadays, anyone liked to slap the expert title on themselves to make their books sell.

But really, the stuff they said was as good as hot air. Anyway, those so-called educational books weren’t going to appeal to her. Besides, what book couldn’t you find online these days?

You could download anything in seconds.

"Let’s start with a puff." Carolline requested as she was actually craving cream, and the puffs were loaded with it, creamy both inside and out, except for the outer shell.

"I seem to remember you didn’t like sweets much when you were pregnant with Axel. You’re so into them this time around. Could it be that there’s a little princess in there?" Avery knew that Bryan Hawkins dearly wished for a daughter, while Carolline was indifferent. She would hold dear and treat equally whether it was a son or a daughter that came out of her belly.

"Hmm, it’s different than when I had Axel. Whatever it is, I’ll accept it." Carolline nodded as Avery had made the puffs bigger than the ones she sold in her shop. That was the benefit of having a friend who owned a Cake Shop; most things came in generous portions.

Carolline relished the taste, while Avery simply sat beside her. Carolline turned and asked, "Aren’t you eating?"

"I don’t like eating them; I prefer making them." Avery shook her head. Being around those aromas every day in the Cake Shop was enough for her. Like many chefs, smelling the food they make often diminished their own appetite.

When Avery had come in, Carolline hadn’t noticed anything unusual about her neck, but now with Avery’s shake of the head, Carolline spotted the love bites on Avery’s neck.
