Chapter 102 - 102 102 Golden Bell Safe
Chapter 102: Chapter 102 Golden Bell Safe Chapter 102: Chapter 102 Golden Bell Safe She returned home nearly an hour later than her usual off-work time because of the night shift worker who was delayed by family matters for an hour. Carolline Ruiz had always willingly done this without any complaints.
She wasn’t sure if it was because the Spring Festival was approaching, but these people were eating and drinking excessively, not taking care of themselves at all. Children might be more understandable since they were naturally excited about the festival and had more pocket money. But the adults were the same. Carolline was speechless, feeling sorry for the nurses like herself, who were so busy that their backs were almost breaking.
Carolline was so tired she wanted to lie down the moment she got home. She changed her shoes and headed straight for the sofa, lying down sideways. Bryan Hawkins came out of the restroom and saw Carolline lying in a rather ungraceful posture.
He wasn’t surprised but instead, very composed. “You’re back? What do you want for dinner?”
“Ahh—” Carolline thought no one was home, so when she heard Bryan’s voice, she was startled. “You, you—”
“Uncle and Auntie went out to eat. I was waiting for you.” Bryan said calmly. Was his presence really so alarming to her?
“I, I thought you must have gone home already.” Carolline’s face turned red, embarrassed.
“No. I went fishing with your uncle this afternoon.” He intended to wait until they had dinner together before leaving. After all, he had come here just for her.
“Oh, then let me clean up a bit, and we can go out to eat.” Actually, there were plenty of leftovers from lunch. Having eaten at the Hawkins Family’s house before, Carolline knew their meals were always freshly made without any leftovers. So, she made this suggestion.
“No need. There’s still so much left from lunch. Let’s just heat it up and eat it.” Bryan had also initially wanted to go out to eat. However, seeing how tired Carolline was, he didn’t want to tire her further.
“Isn’t that improper? All your family’s meals are…” Carolline stood up, insisting on going out to eat.
“Our family has more people, and the servants have been working with us for many years. They usually cook just enough, very seldom too much.” Bryan explained, and then Carolline went to the kitchen to heat the leftovers from lunch.
Bryan accompanied Carolline for dinner. The remaining leftovers were eventually thrown into the trash bin. Right after dinner, Bryan received a call from his elder brother, who sounded quite urgent. He had planned to keep Carolline company longer, but he had to leave.
After cleaning up, Carolline watched TV for a while and then prepared to go to sleep early since she had work the next day. Fortunately, she would get off work, so she could sleep in a little in the morning.
At eight o’clock, Carolline took her change of clothes and was about to take a bath when she received a call from Mia Parker. “Carolline, Golden Bell Safe, Room 1208. You have half an hour. You must come.”
“I have work tomorrow.” Carolline refused outright, as her working status couldn’t be compared to Mia, who was still a student.
“I know, you’ll get off work tomorrow. You can go at twelve. Hurry up, stop talking. I’m treating you tonight, and several high school classmates are here too. They all miss you. Come quickly.” Mia hung up after saying this.
Carolline had no choice but to tidy up her hair again, wash her face, change her clothes, and head out.
Mia had only given her half an hour, and the Golden Bell Safe was in the heart of the city. She took a cab as soon as she left her house. However, she didn’t expect that as her taxi drove off, a red car followed closely behind.
The driver of the red car was Matilda Ferguson. Due to the upcoming holiday, she didn’t feel like taking on more work, so she had been enjoying some leisure time after finishing this year’s work.
Being idle every day and listening to her parents nag at home had irritated her, so she decided to go out every day. With nothing to do, she secretly followed Bryan, trying to see if George Morris was actually working.
George Morris was indeed working, but he hadn’t found the right time to make a move. Carolline’s life was too regular, and she rarely had moments alone. Even after spending a long time following her, he couldn’t find a suitable opportunity to act.
Today, Matilda couldn’t sit still. She had been following Bryan and when he came to the Ruiz Family’s house, it annoyed her. She waited for him downstairs for a whole day, and finally, Bryan left alone. Her mood plummeted, and she lost the desire to continue following him.
Her mood was now terrible. After Bryan left, she called George and pressured him to act quickly. She was tired of his excuses about not finding suitable opportunities. If he didn’t make a move, they would go their separate ways.
Having to deal with a crazy woman like Matilda, George now had no choice but to appease her. He never thought a woman would go to such lengths for Bryan Hawkins. He promised her and assured her he would act as soon as possible.
Of course, this promise was limited. George Morris would not do anything stupid to implicate himself without the right opportunity. This was the biggest difference between men and women.
Men’s actions are based on rationality, while women’s actions are often driven by impulsiveness.
After sulking for a long time, Matilda finally saw Carolline appear alone, less than half an hour after Bryan had left. It seemed like Carolline had dressed up a bit.
Of course, Carolline simply looked neater. Matilda hadn’t interacted with her much and knew that Carolline was a person who didn’t like to spend time on dressing up, just like her annoying cousin. She heard that her cousin would be back the day after tomorrow, and her family even arranged a dinner party for her return.
Without much hesitation, Matilda trailed Carolline in her car. Eventually, their cars parked one after the other in front of the Golden Bell Safe. Matilda looked up at the shiny signboard above her.
She never thought Carolline would visit a place like this. In front of Bryan, Carolline pretended to be so pure and innocent, but she couldn’t avoid being just like everyone else.
Finding a parking spot, Matilda pulled out her phone and called George Morris.
