Chapter 1013: 020 Regain face

"What’s up?" Giselle Browman’s face lit up with excitement, tossing aside the displeasure she felt on her way back, and then her imagination ran wild as she guessed, "Oh, I know, are you going to tell your aunt and the others that Bernard Taylor is about to become my brother-in-law?"

These past ten days, the female colleagues in the office had been enthusiastically talking about Bernard Taylor again, saying that Bernard had started smiling; the once stoic handsome guy looked so charming when he smiled, he must have gotten a girlfriend. They were all eager to know, who is Mr. Taylor’s girlfriend? Who could be so charming to have moved such a celestial being like him?

Giselle Browman really wanted to tell them that the charming person in their eyes was her sister, Avery Graham.

Lately, when she went to Bernard’s office room to submit documents and report on her work, she also felt that Bernard had indeed changed a lot. When she got home, she would probe Avery indirectly. Avery’s responses were not as definitive as before, and she even often blushed, which naturally made Giselle realize what was happening.

"Yes, yes, yes, you’re so smart." Avery didn’t refute, quickly finished the remaining half bowl of noodles, then pushed the empty bowl toward Giselle, "Since you’re stuffed, go get some exercise, wash the dishes."

"..." Giselle muttered, reluctantly going to do it.

Returning to the living room, Avery saw that the coffee table was piled with snacks Giselle had eaten. Having eaten so much yet still managing to eat such a big bowl of noodles, it seemed she really did have a tough day outside.

Avery briefly tidied up the living room, put the remaining snacks from the bag into the snack cabinet, and thought about the planned move on May Day; she had already informed the landlord in advance. They would leave on May Day as their lease expired at the end of May.

Moreover, Bernard had taken her to see the villa, the blueprint of the interior design looked beautiful, and she was looking forward to their new home. However, she hadn’t yet told her parents, and the money for the house was all fronted by Bernard. The 1.5 million she borrowed from Celia Wade, she had also given to Bernard.

Bernard initially refused to take it, but eventually couldn’t win against her persistence and reluctantly accepted it.

Unbeknownst to her, the second after she gave the money to Bernard, he transferred it directly into Ryan Parker’s account. He really didn’t need Avery’s money. The reason he made that suggestion was merely to spare her the burden. Besides, now that their relationship had reached this stage, even buying a villa for her would be fitting.

Avery held firm to her principles, so Bernard didn’t press her, and just went along with her wishes.

The next day, Avery and Giselle got up early, went to the supermarket to buy some delicious foods, and then headed home together.

She had called Mrs. Graham in advance, so Mrs. Graham didn’t go out to buy groceries but instead chatted with the neighbors in the Residential Area, actually waiting for Avery and Giselle.

During the conversation, everyone praised how capable Avery was. Although she was an unmarried woman of marriageable age, she had started her own business, bought a car, and was about to buy a house—in G City, not many women could achieve that.

Some, however, disagreed with Avery, questioning why a woman should go through so much trouble.

"It would be better to just marry a wealthy man."

There was truth on both sides, and Mrs. Graham just smiled in response.

"By the way, relatives of the Graham Family, when is your Avery getting married to her boyfriend? It’s about time to invite us neighbors for the wedding banquet, look, the Sun family last month had us over for their grandson’s 100-day celebration. You really are easygoing, not hurrying about your Avery at all?" Mrs. Wu, the most gossipy lady in the area, called out to Mrs. Graham.

"..." Mrs. Graham really wanted to spit in her face, but thinking that they had been neighbors for so many years, and considering that Mrs. Wu had two sons who neither invited her living with them after her husband’s death two years ago showed the kind of woman she was, not even liked by her own sons, just idling her days gossiping about the neighbors’ personal affairs.

Mrs. Graham found such people most annoying, she wouldn’t be sitting there listening to their mundane gossip if she wasn’t waiting for Avery and the others.

"Every child has their own fortune," Mrs. Graham finally replied noncommittally.
