Chapter 90: Gossip About Your Own Melon!
Chapter 90: Chapter 90: Gossip About Your Own Melon!
Snow Fitch left with Noah.
The little guy had been gloomy since leaving the hospital ward.
"What’s wrong, you miss your sister?" Snow Fitch asked, putting an arm around his shoulder.
Noah shook his head to indicate he was fine, then asked, "Aunt Fitch, is he always that fierce?"
"..." So that’s what the little guy was upset about?
Snow thought for a moment before answering, "In the eyes of parents, their own children are always the cutest and most adorable. It’s quite normal not to like other people’s kids."
Snow wanted to add that if he knew you were his biological son, he’d surely love you as much as he loves your sister.
But she dared not say it.
Noah, not comforted by her words, said stubbornly, "He’s too irritable, I don’t like him either."
"Uh... if you don’t like him, let’s just leave it at that. We’re not planning on recognizing each other anyway." Snow patted his shoulder, changing the subject, "Let’s go, let’s head back."
The two had just gotten into the car when Amelia Garcia sent a WhatsApp message asking about their situation.
Snow decided to call instead and handed the phone to the little boy in the back seat.
"Hello, Snow, have you guys left already?" Amelia Garcia was surprised that her friend had returned the call so quickly.
Noah called out, "Mom."
"Noah? Have you guys left the hospital already?"
"Yeah, just got in the car..."
Amelia Garcia, sensing her son’s lackluster mood, immediately asked, "What’s wrong? Didn’t you have fun playing with your sister? Or did something happen?"
Ever since Snow Fitch had taken her son to the hospital, she had been unable to focus at work, constantly worried that they might be discovered by Christopher Hart, or that her son might somehow be taken away.
Noah, with his eyes downcast, said gloomily, "I had fun playing with my sister, but that man suddenly came back and drove us away."
"What? You mean your dad... you ran into that man?"
"Uh-huh..."
"Did he recognize you? How did you guys leave?"
From a distance, Snow Fitch could hear her friend’s alarmed voice over the phone and turned around to signal Noah to hand her the phone.
"Don’t panic. We left safely, so he obviously didn’t notice."
Amelia Garcia was sitting in her office, surrounded by piles of drawings.
Hearing her friend’s casual demeanor made her even more frantic. She got up and walked to the window, "What exactly happened? Are you sure he didn’t suspect anything?"
"Oh, just trust me! He didn’t even take a proper look at Noah! Thought he was my nephew and rudely told us to scram!"
As she spoke, Snow Fitch looked back at the little guy and lowered her voice, "It’s because of this that Noah feels a bit hurt..."
"Really?" Amelia Garcia furrowed her brow in confusion, thinking of her elder son’s maturity and felt a pang of heartache.
He definitely still hoped to have a father.
But knowing his father would never reconcile with his mother, he didn’t want to make it difficult for her, so he pretended not to care.
"Yeah, try to leave work early tonight and spend some time with him. Also, Hope is recovering quite well. I talked to Aunt Harper, and her surgery is scheduled for the day after tomorrow. You might want to be there; she keeps asking for you."
Thinking of her daughter’s sweet and adorable demeanor, Amelia Garcia felt a twinge of sadness.
Since the night she and Christopher Hart had parted on bad terms, they hadn’t been in contact.
She constantly thought about her daughter, but it wasn’t easy for her to show up.
After all, since Christopher Hart and Lily Garcia reconciled and decided to get married, her appearing again and being discovered would only label her as a homewrecker.
"Yeah, I got it. You go ahead and take Noah home."
"Okay, bye."
Heeded her best friend’s words. In the afternoon, after Amelia Garcia had finished her important tasks, she prepared to leave work early to spend time with her two little ones.
Unexpectedly, just as she was about to leave, Shaw knocked on her door.
"Sister, someone’s looking for you."
"Who?" she asked casually as she packed her bag.
Shaw looked uneasy, "...your ex-husband’s fiancée, that green tea ’little sister.’"
Amelia’s hand froze as she picked up her bag.
Lily Garcia?
What did she want?
"Sister, are you going to see her? If not, I’ll send her away."
Amelia frowned, "If she’s come all this way, I doubt you can just send her away."
It’s either a blessing or a curse, but a curse can’t be avoided.
She walked out of her office to meet Lily Garcia.
Dressed exquisitely and carrying herself with an arrogant air, Lily Garcia stood up and smiled when she saw her rival approaching, "Miss Norton, I’m sorry to intrude. Can we talk?"
"Sure, let’s change the location," Amelia said directly and turned to leave.
Lily Garcia wasn’t exactly known for her stellar character. Amelia feared that if they disagreed, a scene might ensue in the office, turning into a spectacle for the coworkers to gawk at.
They left the office building and found a tea house, choosing a secluded spot.
Once seated, Lily looked around and began with a taunt, "You realize it’s shameful to show your face around here, right? So why bother being a homewrecker?"
Amelia responded righteously, "Firstly, I’m not a homewrecker, and I did not initiate any disruption in your relationship. It’s your fiancé who keeps harassing me."
"Secondly, I stand upright and fear no slanted shadow. Choosing a private place is to prevent you from causing a scandal and embarrassing yourself later."
"You!" Lily Garcia didn’t expect her opponent to be so sharp-tongued and felt she had lost the first round, grinding her teeth in frustration.
"Never mind, I won’t stoop to your level. I came here today specifically to tell you, Christopher and I have reconciled, and he has agreed to marry me."
That wasn’t news to Amelia, who smirked slightly, "Congratulations. But you’ll need to find someone else for the wedding jewelry."
"Ha! You think I still care about your stuff?"
"Better if you don’t, I wouldn’t want to profit from your measly money. It’s too tiring."
"..." Lily was infuriated again.
After a brief silence, she spoke first, "You really do resemble my late sister, but you’re luckier than her. She was kicked out, and I heard she died in a small town delivering her child—so miserable. She died of massive blood loss, must have been utterly desolate..."
"A woman should be cherished from birth, but she had a pitiful life—neglected by her parents and despised by her in-laws. Dying early was probably a mercy to avoid further suffering."
Amelia listened quietly, then asked as if curious, "I heard your sister was childhood sweethearts with that Mr. Hart, but later the Hart Family grew cold toward her. Why was that?"
Lily didn’t expect her to ask about that. Her eyes flared coldly as she huffed in interest, "It’s because she betrayed and had a venomous heart, bringing misery upon herself!"
"Is that so?" Amelia feigned a gossipy interest.
"Humph! The Hart Family was so good to her, yet she stole trade secrets to please her own family, hoping to gain their favor. But her own father was no good either; after making money from the stolen project, he still despised her."
Amelia listened quietly, discreetly fiddling with her phone and silently recording everything.
After her mother’s death, Michael Garcia remarried quickly.
Fiona Marshall joined the Garcia Family with her daughter.
Michael had no regard for his own daughter, yet treated a non-blood related stepdaughter with complete kindness.
If he were to hear Lily Garcia’s words, who knows if he might feel any regret.
"Wendy Hart disliked her, so she heartlessly pushed someone into the sea in an attempt to kill her and cover it up. Luckily, Wendy was fortunate enough to be rescued. Otherwise, she would have been a murderer, doomed to rot in prison!"
