Chapter 28: Bewitched by His Hormones
Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Bewitched by His Hormones
"Wendy, why did you come back so early?"
Christopher exclaimed, causing Amelia Garcia to suddenly turn around.
Seeing his recklessly casual outfit unconsciously brought back memories from four years ago.
He might have been a scoundrel, but his physique was top-notch.
Broad shoulders, narrow hips, solid chest muscles, defined abs, and a seductive Adonis belt.
And he had abundant stamina.
During those three years of marriage, even though they weren’t loving, she could hardly resist every time they grew intimate. She often felt so exhausted the next day she could barely get out of bed.
Her thoughts whirled, heat crept into her cheeks involuntarily, and her heartbeat lost its rhythm.
Amelia hurriedly gathered her thoughts and said sternly, "Mr. Hart, I’m leaving now."
With that, she turned to go.
Wendy Hart bluntly said, "Amelia Garcia, do you think changing your name will make us unrecognizable? What are your intentions exactly? Just lay your cards on the table!"
Amelia stopped in her tracks and turned around.
Before she could retort, she caught a glimpse of the man, now shirtless, quickly approaching her from around the sofa.
This rogue...
"Miss, you’ve got the wrong person. I am not the Amelia Garcia you mention." She deliberately ignored the man’s presence and calmly replied to Wendy.
"Oh, you think we’re idiots?"
She turned her face away helplessly, then straightened up and bluntly replied, "Indeed you are idiots. There are many people in the world who look alike. It’s absurd to insist I’m some dead person—are you sick?"
"You—" Wendy never expected to be retorted like this, and was left speechless.
Christopher Hart stood by her side, looking at her makeup-free, naturally beautiful face, his memories drifting back to a distant corner.
"You’ve been with Hope all night; you must be tired. Have breakfast before you leave," he said softly, retaining her.
For some reason, he just didn’t want her to leave.
Amelia dared not look at him, feeling the enveloping pheromones like sedatives, muddling her senses.
She needed to leave immediately!
"No need, we’ve only met by chance; we really shouldn’t get involved further." With that, her phone rang; her ride was here.
She didn’t glance directly at him, politely answered the phone, and turned to leave.
Christopher Hart stood there, his gaze following her disappearing figure.
Even after she vanished, he continued to stare blankly.
Wendy Hart witnessed this scene, her fingers clenching the armrest of her wheelchair tightly.
After a moment, she suddenly looked at her brother, "Brother, why did you even ask her to come here? Isn’t she bringing bad luck to the Hart family enough as it is?"
Christopher turned to go upstairs, his voice deep and steady without a hint of fluctuation, "She said she isn’t Amelia Garcia."
"You believe that nonsense! Don’t forget how she tricked you back then!"
"And even if she isn’t Amelia, just someone who happens to look like her, you shouldn’t have brought her here! What will people think? That you’re still hung up on your ex-wife and using this woman as a substitute?"
Christopher had already reached the second floor, his tone unchanged, "Wendy, I am a father, and for Hope’s sake, I would even—"
He suddenly stopped, brows furrowing, astonished by the thought that had abruptly surfaced!
Even what?
Could he really continue to engage with this woman for his daughter’s sake?
Wendy Hart moved her wheelchair slightly towards the living room and looked up at her brother on the second floor, her tone rising, "Even what?"
"Brother! Don’t be fooled by her! Do you really want to have something with her? What about Lily?"
"She loves you so much, waited for you for so many years!"
"She... she would even donate her own organs to appease you, to appease the Hart family, just to extend my life! You can’t be ungrateful!"
The excited tone hadn’t yet settled when suddenly a frightful wail came from inside the villa!
Christopher Hart barely had time to deal with his sister, his handsome face fell, and he turned and strode towards his daughter’s room.
Wendy Hart watched her brother’s this figure, seeing eyes focussed on that sickly girl, and felt anger, rage, jealousy, and resentment!
Back then, her brother had really doted on her, but it was Amelia Garcia’s appearance that diverted his affection away from her, which left her feeling unhappy.
Later, she had tried all means and finally awaited the moment that woman completely disappeared, only to have another burden arrive!
These years, her brother had only eyes for his daughter, not even caring if she lived or died!
Amelia Garcia, that vile woman, why must she always oppose her through generations!
A furious Wendy Hart, after leaving the villa, immediately called Lily Garcia.
"Wendy, you finally called. How are things?"
Lily Garcia had apparently been waiting, and as soon as the connection was made, she quickly asked.
"Not good at all. That woman indeed stayed over at my brother’s house last night. When I went there earlier, she was just preparing to leave."
Though Lily Garcia was already aware of this news, hearing it still made her sad and angry.
"How could Christopher do this... we clearly have a marriage agreement, he clearly knows how much I love him, but he still acts this way, completely... completely disregarding my feelings."
Lily Garcia spoke and gradually started sobbing, her voice filled with commiseration.
Wendy Hart, impatient, said, "Why cry? Can crying solve the problem?"
"What else can I do? Your brother won’t even let me see him! I never expected, after waiting for so many years and giving so much, to end up with this outcome, I might as well... might as well be dead."
Wendy Hart, feeling a headache coming on, her heiress nature surfacing, said sternly, "Stop crying! Come out and meet me, I have something to talk to you about."
Lily Garcia asked between sobs, "What’s it about? Can’t you say it on the phone?"
"It concerns your happiness, come if you wish to." Wendy Hart dropped the statement and ended the call gruffly.

When Amelia Garcia returned home, Shaw was waiting at her residence.
"Sis, you didn’t come home last night? What happened?"
Shaw was inquisitive, examining Amelia closely and leaning in to sniff sharply.
Amelia Garcia rolled her eyes and pushed her away, "No smell of men, don’t worry!"
"Oh, that’s good! I thought you might have sought some influential man to sleep with to settle that Internet scandal."
"..." Amelia Garcia sent her another eye roll.
"So where were you last night?"
"At my ex-husband’s house."
"What? Oh..." Shaw was just about to sit on the sofa when she heard this reply and shockingly fell to the ground.
"Did... did you two, oh my god... did he recognize you? Did you two reconcile last night, fighting through three hundred rounds? And then, pleased as punch, he settled the online smear campaign?"
"Shaw, I think you shouldn’t assist me, you should change your profession to a scriptwriter."
Amelia Garcia took a sip of water, dropped the wig she was holding, barely even had time to sit down for a breather, then went out the door, taking the emergency stairs to check on her son.
Shaw, extremely curious, followed her gossiping all along the way.
Amelia Garcia knew she couldn’t hide it; she hadn’t intended to anyway, so she briefly explained, "He probably still just suspects and doesn’t have evidence of my identity. He came personally last night to confront me. Hope was sick, and I couldn’t just leave him like that, so I went."
Shaw, realizing with wide eyes, nodded, "So that’s what happened."
The two opened the door and entered the apartment, and Amelia Garcia, seeing her son, whispered, "Don’t tell them, I haven’t figured out how to yet."
"Rest assured, I know."
The brothers were having breakfast, and upon seeing their mom, each kissed her from one side.
Amelia Garcia lifted her eldest son and touched his forehead, asking with concern, "Feeling better?"
"Yeah, much better..." Noah nodded, and looking at his mom suddenly asked, "Mom, when twins get sick, do their illnesses tend to happen together?"
