Scum Daddy Dreams Of Stealing My Mommy!
Chapter 244 Awakening

Chapter 244: Chapter 244 Awakening

After he finished speaking solemnly, Kane turned and pressed the elevator button. After stepping into the elevator car, he left her with the words, "Call me if you need anything, I’ll find a hotel nearby the hospital."

Amelia stood there blankly for a while, Kane’s words still echoing in her ears.

He used the word "friend" to position himself in the role of a friend, offering help that’s merely friendly.

That simple statement clearly defined their stance, bringing clarity to their previously ambiguous relationship.

At the same time, it relieved her of the pressure he had caused.

Overwhelmed with emotion, she couldn’t help but let out a long sigh.

Kane had been too good to her and her two sons, so much so that she felt deeply guilty, and unforgivable.

Benny finished arranging the hospital room and came over, only to find the mother and son standing vacantly in front of the elevator. Confused, he asked, "What’s happening? Where’s the foreigner? Did he leave?"

Amelia turned to him with a stern tone, "Young Master Palmer, please be polite to him in the future."

Benny’s face stiffened, "I..."

The woman didn’t wait for him to explain, taking her son towards the hospital room instead.

Benny ran his hand through his hair and shook his head speechlessly—this assignment was indeed a tough one; he prayed that the guy would wake up soon. Let whoever’s woman she was take care of her!

That night, Amelia hardly slept, as usual.

Worrying both about her sick child at home and whether the man in ICU would make it till the next morning.

She got up quietly at four in the morning and made a round to the ICU. The duty nurse gave her a comforting look, which slightly eased her mood.

Back in her room, she could not sleep at all.

So much had happened in just a few days; she hadn’t had a moment to calm down and think about what path she should take in the future.

If Christopher Hart didn’t survive this ordeal, she personally didn’t mind, but it would be pitiable for the children.

Hope had only had her father from a young age and was deeply attached to him; how heartbroken would she be?

Noah and Ethan, having grown up without a father, had just finally learned who their father was, and yet, they had not even enjoyed one full day of his company, nor had they genuinely been held by him; how regretful must they be?

The children were still young and might not understand now, but would they blame her when they grew up?

Blame her for making decisions about their lives on her own?

Blame her for her obstinance leading to them never experiencing the warmth of a complete family?

Or even blame her for indirectly "causing" their father’s death?

After all, Lily Garcia’s hatred was not merely towards Christopher Hart alone; it included her as well.

It was their complex and deeply tangled relationships that step by step pushed things to an irretrievable point and ultimately led to tragedy.

Amelia pondered these thoughts as she sat at the window watching the night, unable to fall asleep for a long time.

As dawn approached, she leaned on the couch and dozed off lightly.

Not long into her sleep, time seemed to shuttle backward...

"Amelia, have you decided? Do you want to marry me?" In the mist, that man approached her with a resolute stride, stopped in front of her, his handsome face stern, and asked in a deep voice.

She lowered her head, her heart in turmoil, hesitated for a moment and nodded slightly, "I promised Grandpa Hart that I’d marry you. Grandpa also promised to cover my grandmother’s medical expenses for the rest of her life. Even if one day he is not around, as long as my grandmother is in the hospital, someone will always be responsible for this..."

The man seemed to be infuriated, had nothing to say, turned around, and nodded, dropping the words, "Don’t regret it!"

With that, the man disappeared into the mist.

She was startled and instinctively tried to reach for the man, but her hand suddenly dropped into an abyss—

"Amelia, let’s go hiking this weekend."

"Hiking again? It’s so tiring..."

"Look at you, skinny as a rake, a breeze could blow you away, and you’re physically weak, clearly lacking exercise!"

"Fine, we’ll hike, but why the personal attack?"

"Truth be told, which word attacked you?"

At the base of the mountain, she looked around; aside from the two of them, their usual companions were nowhere to be seen.

"Hey? Where are they?"

"Who?"

"Stones, Luke, Joy..."

"I didn’t call them." The boy replied and abruptly took her hand, "Let’s go!"

She stared at the slender palm that grasped her wrist, her cheeks inexplicably flushing red.

This was their first time climbing the mountain alone; something felt... odd.

"Amelia, we’ve grown up together since childhood, some things don’t need to be spelled out, you... should understand, right?" At the creek, the tall boy in a white shirt smiled sunnily, his body bathed in a golden glow, as he suddenly spoke to her.

She was drinking water, froze upon hearing his words, choked on the water but didn’t even dare to cough, her face turning red from holding her breath.

Playing dumb...

"I, I don’t understand what you mean..."

"You don’t understand?" The boy sighed, nodded nonchalantly to himself, talking to himself, "This is difficult, at this age... speaking too straightforwardly sounds like puppy love, but not saying anything..."

He pondered to himself for a while, then suddenly stepped forward, his lean, tall figure stooping down, and with a tilted face, he briskly kissed the girl at the corner of her mouth.

"Do you understand my meaning now? Listen— from now on, keep your distance from the boys in your class, and don’t let me catch you getting too close to them or laughing like you’re a trumpet blossom!"

"I... I didn’t!"

"Well, I saw it!"

They laughed together, and even the birds in the woods shyly flew away.

"Amelia Garcia! I really didn’t expect that after knowing you for so many years, I still couldn’t see through you! I know, Wendy can indeed be willful and overbearing, and her attitude towards you isn’t always good... but after all, she is sick, why hold it against her?"

"Even if you’re angry, you could tell me, and I’d apologize on her behalf, console you, anything... How could you harm her like that? Don’t you know the doctors have already said she hasn’t many years left..."

"Christopher Hart... I’ve already said it wasn’t me, your parents might not believe me, but why don’t you believe me? You’ve said it yourself, we’ve known each other for so many years... in your heart, am I really such a ruthless person?"

"Then why does even your sister say she saw it with her own eyes?"

"Lily Garcia and Wendy are good friends! Isn’t it strange that they are in it together?"

"In it together? You mean, Wendy is joking with her own life to frame you?"

"Forget it... If you don’t believe me, I won’t say any more. Since all of you have decided it’s me, then fine, it hasn’t been a day or two that I couldn’t stand Wendy, I’d rather she died sooner, happy now!"

That scene had passed many years ago.

Yet even when relived in a dream, it still evoked deep sadness and anger.

"Mum... Mum, wake up, you’re having a nightmare, wake up..." Noah woke up, heard sobbing in the room, got out of bed, and went to the window, only then noticing his mother curled up on the couch.

Amelia was trapped in a nightmare, and it took her son’s shaking and calling to wake her.

"Noah..." She opened her eyes and realizing her voice was hoarse from crying, then became aware that she had been crying.

"Mum, what’s wrong?" Noah was very worried, sensibly reaching out to wipe her tears.

"Nothing’s wrong, Mum just had a bad dream..." She quickly calmed herself, pulled her son close, and held him tightly.

Her phone rang; she turned to look towards the nightstand.

Noah immediately went down, "Mum, I’ll get your phone for you."

When the little guy brought the phone over, it was Benny Palmer.

"Hello, Benny—"

"Come down quickly, Christopher is showing signs of waking up, the doctor is examining him now!"
