Chapter 231 Ethan is Kidnapped
Chapter 231: Chapter 231 Ethan is Kidnapped
On the big screen, a romantic art film was playing.
Amelia couldn’t remember the last time she sat in a movie theater; surprisingly, there were quite a few people on a weekday evening.
All were young faces full of zest; either groups of girls or young couples snuggled up intimately.
Clearly, only the young had the luxury to afford such romantic indulgences.
What middle-aged mother wasn’t caught up in the frets of motherhood or staying up late working overtime for a meager salary?
Love, nonexistent.
Career and money were the real spine and the pride to laugh in the face of life.
If one wanted to taste love again, they probably could only find it on the fictional big screen.
There was a faint disturbance by her side, which she ignored, assuming it was just someone getting up to use the restroom.
Not until the person beside her rose and then sat back down, making the already spacious seating suddenly feel crowded, and a very familiar masculine scent swept by her nose, did she realize something—startled, she turned her head!
Under the dim lighting, that deep and handsome face still had its unique recognizability, especially those eyes, unfathomably deep and twinkling like a fierce beast hunting under the night sky, commanding a strong presence.
She was startled for a moment, then relaxed, and turned her head back to the big screen as if she had not seen him.
Christopher settled into his seat, his handsome face inching closer to her, and his warm and fragrant breath instantly assaulted the side of her face, "Watching a movie alone, doesn’t it feel bleak?"
"..." Amelia’s hairs stood on edge at once, but she remained unmoved, as if hearing nothing.
—How could this be bleak? It was pure enjoyment.
"Is it a romance film?" the man asked in surprise—because at that moment, the lead actors on the screen were kissing tenderly and romantically...
Amelia’s cheeks burned with heat, her ears felt hot, and her mood was in complete disarray.
But if she turned away, it would only give him more reason to mock her.
After all, a middle-aged mother could look at erotic paintings without a ripple stirred, what was a kiss?
So, she continued to ignore him, her gaze unwaveringly fixed on the screen, like a puppet, unresponsive and appreciating the intense and lingering kisses between the leads.
Christopher also watched her intently and then marveled inwardly.
Had she truly reached a state of imperturbable calm?
Otherwise, how could she watch such a scene without a hint of disturbance on her face?
The audience around them was watching in silence, and Christopher, after several attempts to engage her without response, chose not to speak further so as not to disturb others. He glanced at her a while longer before turning his gaze back to the big screen.
He hadn’t been to a movie theater in many years either.
Unexpectedly, at the age of thirty, he could still partake in young people’s romance, watching an artistic love film with the woman he cherished.
Mr. Hart was in a good mood, treating it as if it was a date between the two of them.
Unfortunately, before the movie ended, his phone in his pocket started vibrating.
Upon taking it out, it was a call from Jacob.
His face darkened with a bad feeling, he answered the call in a low voice, "Hello."
On the other end, Jacob reported, "My sister just contacted me again, asking me to go to Ridge River Premier. I happen to be nearby, and my friends tell me it’s a high-class neighborhood... What do you think she wants me to do there? Could she be hiding out there?"
Ridge River Premier was exactly Amelia’s neighborhood!
Christopher’s bad feeling intensified, he turned to the woman beside him, "Let’s go. Get out."
Amelia looked bewildered, looking at him without moving.
Christopher didn’t have time to explain, one hand continued making phone calls, while the other directly grabbed her and pulled her up.
"What are you doing, Christopher!" Amelia was angry, struggling without breaking free, only managing to pick up all the shopping bags beside her before being dragged out of her seat.
The surrounding audience protested indignantly, greatly dissatisfied, but Christopher had no time to care.
His keen intuition made him realize that not even a second could be wasted, so without waiting for Jacob to finish his sentence, he hurriedly gave a few instructions and hung up the phone.
Once out of the screening room, Amelia scolded furiously, "What exactly do you want to do? Let go!"
Christopher dialed Fuller’s phone while looking at her with extreme seriousness, "We need to get back quickly, I’m worried something has happened."
Amelia’s expression dramatically changed, and she fell silent.
Christopher dragged her out, taking big steps, and the call connected, "Fuller, where are you now?"
On the other end, Fuller responded, "At the complex walking the dog, Miss Hope and Master Ethan just finished dinner and insisted on taking Little Dunham down for a couple of laps. I’m with them."
"Just you alone?"
"Uh, the auntie is cleaning up the kitchen."
He ordered sternly, "Call and get more people to accompany you, or head upstairs immediately."
Over there, Fuller, who was watching the kids, didn’t understand but didn’t ask any further questions, just obeyed the boss’s orders "Alright, we’re going up now."
Having hung up, Fuller immediately went to persuade the children.
"Master Ethan, Miss Hope, it’s time to go up."
"We just came down! Look how happy Little Dunham is!" Ethan and Hope ran after Little Dunham, overjoyed.
With both parents absent, the kids were let loose, unwilling to heed a bodyguard’s words.
Noah ran after his brother and sister, still holding a little shovel for picking up pet waste.
Fuller didn’t understand the intention behind the boss’s orders, but seeing that the kids refused to go up, he immediately pressed his earpiece and contacted others to come over.
Meanwhile, Christopher was pulling Amelia at a swift pace towards the parking lot.
"Who just called? How do you know something’s going to happen? Where are the kids?" Amelia, carrying things, trotted after him, throwing out a series of questions.
Christopher answered briefly, "It was a call from your brother, saying Lily contacted him, told him to wait at Ridge River Premier."
"To my family’s complex?!" She was also taken aback.
"Yeah, so I suspect she’s planning some action."
Once Amelia heard this, she exploded, "If you knew Lily Garcia was up to no good, why did you even leave the house?!"
"I sent more people, it’s fine," Christopher looked back and tried to reassure her.
But Amelia was not comforted by these words and was so enraged she gritted her teeth!
"Christopher, if anything happens to the children, I will be at odds with you!"
Just as she finished speaking, Christopher’s phone rang again.
He saw it was a call from Fuller and quickly answered, "Have you gone upstairs?"
"President Hart! Bad news, Master Ethan has been abducted!"
Fuller’s opening words struck Christopher like thunder, startling him so much that he stumbled, his body nearly shaking.
It was just an instant before he steadied his mind and angrily demanded, "Didn’t I tell you to go upstairs quickly? What person? How could someone abduct a child in broad daylight!"
On the other end, Fuller was still running, his panting mixed with rustling sounds, he only replied, "A delivery rider! He approached the children, played with the dog..."
