SCP Corporation: Contain Bonfire
Chapter 473 - 473 404 The Signal from the Depths of Space_2

Chapter 473: Chapter 404: The Signal from the Depths of Space_2 Chapter 473: Chapter 404: The Signal from the Depths of Space_2 Colin gave a clear and affirmative reply.

“Is that so…” Xia Liufang nodded without showing much concern.

Under the boss’s leadership, except for the first day, they didn’t find anything too difficult in “World Code-13,” which had largely stabilized by now.

Moreover, she didn’t go there on the first day for some reasons.

After she finished asking, Tang Ken also spoke up, “What should we do next? Should we buy the ‘F Level Compensation Medicine’ first, or should we get some tools instead?”

Hearing his words, the other two also pricked up their ears.

Frequently undertaking Descent Protocols, they undoubtedly had more points than their peers.

However, the excess was relatively limited…

They had to choose either the medicine or one or two props, as they couldn’t have the best of both worlds.

“Let’s buy the medicine first. We can think about authority promotion later for the props, and I can lend you some when the time comes…”

Colin briefly helped to plan their direction.

Afterwards, following a brief exchange, Colin concluded this temporary discussion.

Lying in bed and looking at the familiar ceiling, Colin deftly closed his eyes, hugged the pillow, and fell swiftly into a deep sleep.

Directly clearing his mind…

As time went by, the time for the mission arrived quickly.

January 1st, Sunday, twelve o’clock noon.

An ancient and distant sound of a clock chimed punctually by his ear, followed swiftly by a surging fog blanketing everything.

This time, however, when Colin woke up, he was slightly stunned…

In front of him was still the unending, surging grey mist…

“What’s going on?”

Colin stood firm in the swirling mist, arching an eyebrow. As an experienced traveller through the Descent Protocol, he could sense that he should still be within the “Protocol.”

And it was at that moment when some kind of guidance emerged within him…

“Left side, eleven o’clock direction…”

Following the guidance, Colin turned and walked towards that direction without hesitation.

His feet sinking into the writhing fog as if trudging through snow, he left deep footprints behind with every step…

Soon, a thread of starlight appeared in front of him.

Colin squinted his eyes, flames arose around him, attempting to sense his surroundings, but unfortunately, even the Bonfire couldn’t illuminate far in this enigmatic grey mist.

But detecting no danger, he took a deep breath and continued his action.

Another roughly fifteen minutes later…

Colin saw a door, an arched door standing amidst the grey mist.

The main body of the door was two grey stone pillars, and sandwiched between them was a dark, profound, special transparent black curtain, covered with twinkling stars that flickered incessantly…

After a brief glance, Colin looked bemused as he realized…

The door seemed to be made from something familiar.

“Starlight Maiden?”

Colin clicked his tongue, noticing that the “Starlight Maiden,” who had been captured not long ago, now had her dark robe brutally torn open in the middle, then stretched out and nailed firmly onto two stone pillars with dozens of nails, forming a three-meter-tall gate.

Even so, she was still alive; Colin could faintly feel the “door” trembling softly.

Uttering quiet, non-human murmurs…

However, this wasn’t important. An instinct told him that he had to walk through this “door” to reach his destination.

“Quite a brutal way to utilize it.”

Colin didn’t hesitate, flames wrapped around him, forming a layer of protection as he walked towards it.

Soon, when he reached the door, he slowly extended his hand and entered the body of the “Starlight Maiden,” not sensing any danger or abnormality, and then he stepped forward, walking into it…

The next instant, countless stars streaked past behind him, a multitude of almost intangible messages coming from those lights.

Many indescribable presences seemed to notice him but couldn’t keep up with him.

However, all this was unknown to Colin, who was in a state of trance.

When he came back to his senses, he suddenly felt weightless, as if floating, unable to touch anything beneath his feet, with no directional sense of up, down, left, or right, and the dazzling starlight before his eyes fading away into darkness all around…

An indescribable sense of suffocation and loneliness swept over him.

Clearly, he had come alone to another unknown region.

“What the hell is this place? Hiss, no good, my body feels so awful…”

Colin felt his body seemed to be collapsing from the inside out, as if it was about to explode.

With some initial protective force fading away, the extreme discomfort rapidly intensified.

However, when a burst of flame suddenly erupted,

the indescribable pain gradually vanished.

But unlike in a normal world, where flames rise “upward” like a lit candle, this time it seemed a bit chaotic, clinging to his body and dispersing in all directions…

Nevertheless, with the power of Bonfire, Colin also figured out where he was.

“Crap, what’s the deal? Turns out it’s freaking outer space.”

Colin looked around and couldn’t help but curse under his breath. Though he had never left the Earth’s atmosphere, he was not entirely clueless about these things and quickly realized the situation based on some basic concepts.

Then, looking at the pitch-black surroundings.

Colin skillfully tossed out a can of grease, and the flame erupted. Under his will, it gathered just above the back of his head, forming a huge fireball about five meters in diameter, slowly rotating inward…

By the light radiated from this fireball, Colin saw that he was in the midst of a dense field of asteroids of various sizes.

Numerous rocks of different sizes drifted slowly in the dark…

“No wonder it’s a solo type of mission. If it were any other employee and they weren’t prepared, they’d probably just arrive at the destination, be exposed to this kind of space, and immediately explode on the spot.”

Muttering to himself, Colin applied BUFFs to himself while curiously observing his surroundings.

Although unexpected, he wasn’t surprised to be in such a place.

He just didn’t know what he was supposed to do here.

At that moment, as if remembering something, Colin silently thought, “Bonfire Camp Special Item Containment Company.”

The flickering signal connection began to solidify a lot.

Immediately after, a new event began to emerge from his mind…

[Event One: Target area has been largely confirmed. Please proceed to the destination as soon as possible for further investigative actions.]

Seeing the mission, Colin subconsciously sensed the direction through it.

Then, the corner of his mouth twitched…

In the distance, there was a vague glimpse of a gigantic celestial body. That seemed to be his target destination.

But…

“This has got to be a joke, the landing location this time is a bit too far off, isn’t it?”

Colin couldn’t help but take a sharp breath. Just the distance felt like it could almost circle the entire Earth!

At this moment, comparing horizontally with the Descent projects he had performed in the past, he realized that deviations like “World Code-13” could now be described as precise.

A few dozen kilometers, a few hundred kilometers, on this scale, were nothing at all.

However, since he was already here…

Colin collected his emotions and pulled out the “Yukionna” ring from the Storage Room. After confirming that it was not affected here, he released it to create an ice cone “battleship.”

He then had the “Nano-smart Machinery” attach to it, enhancing the ship.

Finally, Colin turned into a thruster, propelling the battleship towards the target direction…

Soon, he discovered that moving in this almost frictionless environment, his speed was much faster than he had imagined.

And it was still accelerating…

If he accidentally hit something, even for him, it would be a troublesome affair.

But fortunately, the “dense” asteroid belt, while seeming dense, actually had frighteningly large gaps between them, enough to fit several celestial bodies without any problem…

Along with various sensory enhancements, Colin was not at all worried that he would die from colliding with something.

And, there were no anomalies or enemies emerging in the vicinity.

The journey was tedious and dull…

Sometime later, the Little Maid’s cat-eared head suddenly emerged from the ice cone battleship.

Its delicate face looked at Colin, and immediately text appeared on his retinas:

“Mr. Colin, I’ve received some unknown signal frequencies…”

“Hmm? Signal frequencies?”

Colin expressed surprise and then grew curious, responding in his mind, “Did it say what it’s about?”

“Unknown, but, it seems to be sending out a distress signal…”
