Chapter 256: Chapter 256 Miss Bunny’s Reply_1 Chapter 256: Chapter 256 Miss Bunny’s Reply_1 ‘Lying in my own bed really is the most reliable…’ he reflected inwardly. But just then, a strange smell wafted into his nose, and his expression changed instantly. He sprang out of bed, hurried to the living room window, and pushed it open.

As expected, there was a pile of bird droppings beside the window…

“Damned pigeon!” he exclaimed.

Colin took a deep breath. If only he hadn’t fed it millet back then, it wouldn’t have started coming to his place every day, not to mention waking him up early in the morning and pooping daily.

However, it was at this point that he noticed something round on the air conditioner unit by the window—

A pigeon egg?

The slick pigeon egg lay on the air conditioner unit, and if not for the two sticks, appearing out of nowhere, propping it up, the egg probably would have fallen off the building by now.

“Heh, it sure knows where to lay its eggs,” he said.

Colin looked at the two flimsily makeshift “nests” and casually picked up the egg, which still seemed fresh. Then, a flame sprouted from the palm of his hand.

In no time, the pigeon egg was roasted…

He cracked open the shell, and inside the egg was clear and transparent. Colin tasted it and found it decent; he popped it into his mouth as a way of returning the pigeon’s favor.

As for the bird droppings on the window, he’d deal with them later.

“I should upgrade my gear,” he mused.

Colin closed the window and returned to his bed, intending to ponder over an upgrade for his equipment, but then he had a sudden premonition and took out a scroll to check for new tasks…

A new message appeared on it—”You have a new task ‘Return to the Interior of Your House’ available for acceptance, do you choose to accept?”

“Is this from Lady Bunny?” Colin wondered.

He scanned the contents of the task, and after seeing a particular stamp, he intuitively accepted it.

Upon acceptance, the task was immediately completed, and the tallying began.

Then, to his surprise, he discovered several items at the foot of his bed that hadn’t been there before.

A hefty-looking black briefcase and, weighing down on the briefcase, a slick silver orb.

As soon as Colin saw them, two names appeared on his retina.

[“Leftover Item from The Seventh Box Garden World (Backup)”]

[“Nano Intellectual Core”]

“Were the things I was asked to send over on the train returned?” he pondered.

Thought after thought flashed by as Colin shifted his position and hoisted the several-hundred-pound case to inspect it. It was identical to the one he had sent.

If it weren’t for the notification that it was a backup, he probably wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference.

“Having names displayed like props suggests that the ‘Bonfire Company’ must have thoroughly researched it…” Colin deduced based on his knowledge of the company.

However, what he didn’t anticipate was that the company would return the items so swiftly.

And it was at this moment, the basketball-sized “Nano Intellectual Core” suddenly began to melt, and promptly it took the form of a cat-eared maid, standing by the side of the bed.

“Good evening, no, neural component check, time adjustment…”

“Good afternoon, Mr. Colin. Earlier, you commanded me to protect the children on the train. However, subsequently, I do not know why, but I stopped working. I apologize for not having completed your task,” the nano intellectual maid, composed of nano particles, stood respectfully to the side and spoke.

A complete shutdown? Looking at this, it seemed impossible to find out where the train had gone afterward.

But as he pondered, Colin noticed that there seemed to be a letter on the black briefcase, the contents of which were unknown.

Reaching out, he picked up the envelope and tore it open along the seam, finding inside an emblem and a sheet of letter paper.

“This is…”

Mr. Colin first glanced at the emblem.

The emblem had eight corners, and its pattern was a black circle with eight thorns distributed within. Each thorn appeared to symbolize something different, and overall, it looked less like a circle and more fittingly, a crown.

Moreover, this style seemed somewhat familiar…

“Hm? Isn’t this the thing on the ‘Virtue Knight’s’ armor outside the church?”

Colin quickly remembered where it came from.

However, it now seemed to have been repaired and looked much more exquisite.

At this moment, a line of light purple information appeared on his retina.

[Name: “Emblem of the Humility Knight”]

[Quality: Excellent.]

[Status: Perfect (Integrity 97%)]

[Energy Level: D.]

[Description: When holding it and holding one’s breath, one will enter a “Presence Diminished” state until one breathes again. It is best not to use it for more than thirty minutes at a time, and try not to exceed a total of five hours of use per day.]

[“Presence Diminished”: In this state, the presence of oneself and things associated with oneself will be significantly reduced, making it difficult to be noticed. However, one can still be attacked, and there is a probability of being discovered with every active interaction such as attacking or touching.]

[Note: When holding the item, one will tend toward striking from behind during attacks. After using it continuously for over five hours, it’s possible to be severely affected in one’s judgement.]

[Remark: Be careful when sneaking into an alternate dimension…]

“Is this… an item made from that ‘Virtue Knight’ outside the door?”

Colin was at first stunned, then suddenly realized, after so long, he had almost forgotten the equipment that Lady Bunny had promised him…

Now looking at the effects—no wonder that damn thing outside could stay invisible indefinitely. As a creature akin to an “undying monster,” it didn’t need to breathe, did it?

As long as it didn’t breathe, it could maintain that “Presence Diminished” state constantly.

“One can still be attacked when the presence is lost, indeed no problem. Looking at it like this, the wide-area attacks would have been effective against it. The reason I didn’t succeed is simply because the attacks weren’t enough. A big bomb with a large single amount might have been a certain kill…”

Colin rubbed his forehead and glanced again at the information about the equipment, realizing that it almost made up for the shortcomings of his deadliest attack (Bone Spur).

As for the strength of the “Presence Diminished” effect, he wasn’t worried at all…

He believed that even if he took off his clothes and ran naked outside right now, no one would notice.

After all, not just him but a whole bunch of people within the company had a deep understanding of it; even D Level staff, without special means, wouldn’t realize immediately that someone was outside, and each had suffered much because of it.

Colin himself almost had a direct crash because of this thing…

“But now, this power is mine!”

Colin felt joyful, taking a look at the corresponding negative effects. Five hours seemed like it was practically nothing.

“The items from Miss Bunny are always good; the side effects are almost nonexistent, unlike that Mister Huang He; damn, a bunch of side effects that break one’s defenses…”

Colin casually complained.

Afterward, having quickly understood the equipment, he pocketed it and then picked up the letter left by Miss Bunny.
