SCP Corporation: Contain Bonfire
Chapter 175 - 175 175 Everyone Have a Luck._1

Chapter 175: Chapter 175 Everyone, Have a “Luck”._1 Chapter 175: Chapter 175 Everyone, Have a “Luck”._1 The next day, 10 a.m.

“Fuck! Another failure!”

Colin cursed under his breath. From yesterday up until now, he had failed to synthesize the purple-colored talent five or six times in a row. It felt like all the points he had just earned were paid back again…

“Without hitting ‘Luck’, it seems impossible to combine into purple. Forget it, can’t get carried away now. With the remaining money, I might as well buy some equipment wholesale, just right, since yesterday there’s been a group of people selling off their stuff at low prices…”

Colin steadied his mindset, preparing to start wholesaling equipment; these items were generally twenty to thirty percent cheaper than usual.

Moreover, his colleagues, in their frenzy, had tossed out quite a few decent items.

Knock, knock, knock~

The door was suddenly knocked.

“Someone’s here.”

Colin put away the parchment, sat on his wheelchair, and opened the door, unsurprisingly seeing the same two people from yesterday.

“How about it, friend, have you made your decision?” Qin Chuan asked with a smile.

After pondering for a moment, Colin nodded, “I’ll join.”

“A wise choice.” Qin Chuan wasn’t surprised by this, as no one had been able to refuse him all of yesterday; the only exception was Colin.

Then he walked into the room as if he owned the place and took out a contract from his briefcase.

I hope you can still say the same if you discover my true identity one day… Colin muttered to himself internally, ready to maneuver his wheelchair over, but a push suddenly came from behind him.

Turning his head, he saw that the female official had lent a hand.

“Thank you.”

Colin politely said his thanks. As he arrived at the living room table, Qin Chuan handed over the contract.

After a quick glance, besides requesting confidentiality and cooperation with some work, there were no particularly unreasonable arrangements.

“What should I do next?”

Colin, as he took out a pen to sign, inquired. He was curious about how the officials would get them into Bonfire Company.

Moreover, from what Lady Bunny had told him, it seemed that the officials’ plan to infiltrate the company wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment thing.

“Wait until tomorrow, no, there’s no need to wait until tomorrow, you’ll know this afternoon.”

Qin Chuan said mysteriously, “The request for visitation went rather smoothly, so the entry matter has been set for this afternoon or evening, the sooner the better…

“So we’re going to head over there in a while. Oh, and have you eaten?”

“I have.”

“Then let’s go now.”

“Okay.”

Colin nodded, and after handing back the signed contract, let them push him out the door.

Once downstairs, he saw a large bus parked not far away.

This bus appeared to be specially modified; Colin didn’t have to leave his wheelchair to be pushed up the extended ramp.

Then, Colin saw the other people on the bus.

Craning his neck, he scanned the interior of the bus. The space was quite large, and the windows had been tinted black, completely isolated from the outside.

He looked over at the people sitting in their seats and noticed that everyone present was disabled… some with hair loss, those with gaunt figures going through who knows how many rounds of chemotherapy, others who seemed normal but lacked legs, and some with extensive burns beyond recognition…

Out of the twenty-some individuals, Colin was surprised to find that he appeared to be in the best shape on the surface.

“I wonder what condition my three employees are in now.”

Colin remembered that two of them were likely to be abroad, while the one named Lin Yilan seemed to be in the country, though he didn’t know exactly where.

He wondered if they had been pulled into participating in a similar event…

Without dwelling on it, after Colin got on the bus, it started moving. Everyone on board was looking at each other curiously, yet no one spoke a word.

Their own illnesses had turned most of them somewhat “introverted”, not good at interacting with people, to the point that the atmosphere inside the vehicle was excessively silent.

“Okay, relax a bit. Actually, there’s nothing much to it, just a trip over there. If nothing’s wrong, you’ll go home. We promise to take care of your treatments afterward. If you pass, you will embark on a brand new life… Next, if you have any questions for me, feel free to ask now,” the talkative Qin Chuan tried to ease the mood a little.

However, unfortunately, out of the twenty-something people, no one spoke up, which left him feeling somewhat embarrassed.

Colin didn’t plan to ask anything either, because the things he wanted to know wouldn’t be answered even if he asked, so he silently closed his eyes and waited for the bus.

About an hour later, he felt the bus seemed to be heading down a slope and had traveled a considerable distance.

Another ten or so minutes passed, and the fully enclosed bus finally stopped.

“Clap clap!” Qin Chuan clapped his hands twice and then said with a smile, “We’ve arrived.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the bus door opened, and Colin looked outside immediately, finding that the outside was a common mountain cave tunnel, with rows of orange-yellow lights extending towards the end of the road, with no end in sight.

Just as Colin wondered why they were getting off halfway, a door in the tunnel opened.

Behind the door was an enormously large space that looked as if an entire mountain had been hollowed out.

At this moment, a group of people dressed in full-body protective suits emerged from it and transferred Colin and the others to the vast hall-like space.

And here, Colin saw even more sickly people, with the number easily reaching over a thousand!

“Did they round up everyone who meets the criteria in the province?”

Colin was astounded deep down, as it was just like the officials to do nothing at first but to make such a grand gesture when they finally took action.

He had previously thought that the officials would sneak a few people at a time into the “Bonfire Company” to investigate something.

But now it seemed, this was no sneaking in; it was more like a forceful entry!

Moreover, from what he had heard from Qin Chuan, it wasn’t just here that this was happening; other provinces would also have similar arrangements. God knows how many people were being set up today.

Before he could think more about it, Colin’s scalp suddenly tightened, sensing a tangible gaze sweeping over him.

“Fuck, there’s a monster here!”

Colin was alarmed, but luckily, the gaze didn’t seem to linger on him. It merely swept over casually and then retracted.

Apart from him, no one else at the scene noticed anything unusual, obviously unaware of the gaze just now.

While Colin breathed a sigh of relief, he was also very curious about what had just glanced at him. He could feel that the person was not far from him, at the seven o’clock direction, less than fifty meters away…

But after thinking about it, he still resisted the urge to turn his head, to avoid any possible exposure.

However, at this moment, a voice nearby resolved Colin’s curiosity.

“The person in charge of the Southern Region has arrived,” murmured Qin Chuan, his voice reaching Colin’s ears.

The person in charge of the Southern Region? What rank is that person?

This was the first time Colin had encountered someone from the officials whose mere gaze unsettled him, despite his previous encounters with them being rather unimpressive.

However, Qin Chuan did not dwell much on this person:

“Alright, if nothing unexpected happens, the ritual will start in ten minutes. No matter what you see or hear, don’t find it strange. All you have to do is stay where you are.”

After speaking, he looked at his watch for the time and then found a spot to sit down himself.

After a while, Colin finally saw the appearance of the person in charge of the Southern Region. It was a man close to one meter ninety in height, but his frame was so thin that one might wonder if he weighed less than one hundred pounds, as skinny as a bamboo pole.

But more alarming than his appearance was the fact that the man had countless nearly illusionary black threads sticking out from his back. These threads, undulating tremulously and connected to who knows where, looked very bizarre.

At this time, the tall and thin person in charge stepped onto a podium that had been readied in advance, glanced at the people below, and then made a motion as if throwing something forward.

After this motion was completed, Colin suddenly heard a faint and elusive sound of dice near his ear.

It was as if someone had cast a die right next to him.
