Chapter 44: Class flower of Senior 3 Class 4
"Zhou Li, it’s quite the coincidence running into you here. How about we go grab a meal together?" Huang Xiaojun said with his hands in his pockets, grinning cheekily. His rat-like eyes were darting around the full chest of the girl named Zhou Li in front of him, in a very lewd manner.
Just like Huang Xiaojun, Zhou Li was also a student of Class Four, Senior Year at Tenglong High School, and she was one of the top three students excelling academically in her class. In the entire senior year, she was among the top-ranked.
Due to her family’s poor financial situation, Zhou Li usually wore the school uniform to school. But even so, this could not hide her naturally beautiful looks and curvaceous, fiery physique. That was exactly why Huang Xiaojun was so persistent and endlessly pestered her. However, this girl, despite her impoverished background, was a true iron lady, with a proud and lofty spirit. In her eyes, prodigal sons like Huang Xiaojun were no better than trash, and she never spared him a single glance.
Just after class ended, Huang Xiaojun noticed that Zhou Li was heading to the canteen alone, so he quietly followed her with a couple of his lackeys, leading to the current scene.
"Huang Xiaojun, get out of my way," Zhou Li said, clearly annoyed.
"Heh heh!" Huang Xiaojun shamelessly chuckled, "Come on, Lili, just agree to have a meal with me, and I’ll let you through."
"If you want to eat, can’t you go by yourself? I don’t have the time to entertain you! Move aside..." Saying this, Zhou Li attempted to sidestep him, but Huang Xiaojun quickly spread his arms, blocking her path.
"Zhou Li, can’t you just give me some face?" Huang Xiaojun’s expression had already turned ugly.
The short guy with yellow hair standing beside Huang Xiaojun couldn’t stand it anymore and growled menacingly, "Zhou Li, don’t you freaking play hard to get. Let me tell you, it’s the fortune of your ancestors that my boss deigns to notice you. Don’t act all high and mighty like you’re something special."
"Damn it! Yellow Hair, shut your trap! It’s not your place to lecture Zhou Li!" Huang Xiaojun glared at the short guy with yellow hair, who quickly said ’Yes, Boss, I know I was wrong’ and bowed his head.
"Huang Xiaojun, stop putting on an act in front of me; do you think I don’t know what kind of person you are? Are you going to move or not?" Zhou Li said, without mincing words.
With a cold laugh, Huang Xiaojun finally couldn’t save face anymore, "Zhou Li, I’ve already said so much. In the past, I’ve been polite to you, but if you don’t give me this face today, I might not be able to step down. From now on, I won’t be so polite to you anymore. Humph, think about your brother who sets up a stall selling clothes outside the school."
Zhou Li’s complexion changed, and her body trembled slightly.
Her brother, named Zhou Jingpeng, used to be a soldier, but for some reason, he had injured his right leg and had to walk with crutches ever since. After she finished junior high, her parents, being poor, were against Zhou Li continuing her education, wanting her to work instead. But Zhou Jingpeng adamantly opposed this idea and insisted that he would bear all the expenses for his sister’s education. Moved by his determination despite his disability, their parents felt ashamed and borrowed money from everywhere to gather the tuition fees for Zhou Li’s first semester.
However, what was the use of just one semester’s tuition fees? Therefore, Zhou Jingpeng and his family were deeply worried about it. Eventually, Zhou Jingpeng, out of desperation, called a comrade-in-arms in the military to borrow ten thousand yuan. Then, without telling his sister, he set up a stall not far from Tenglong High School in a small market, selling low-end clothing.
