Chapter 208: Chapter – 187 - A Military Defense
Sîvret’s Point Of View
"Hush, is everything prepared?" I asked, looking over at my second-in-command.
He nodded briefly, and placed a folder down in front of me. Curious, I opened the folder and widened my eyes in pleasant surprise. He had meticulously compiled numerous documents, detailing everything that I would need to know.
A document for the types of weapons– along with the quantity– that we had on hand, one for our manpower and total personnel, another for our provisions and miscellaneous supplies, a document detailing the potential cost and expenditures we would incur in the event of an actual war within the Duhtchy, and even information about the facility and its Omegas.
Due to safety precautions, I shut my facility down and relocated the Omegas to The Ruby, Ferdinand’s hotel at the edge of my Duhtchy.
Since my facility was volunteer based, the move to the hotel was completely optional for the Omegas. It was a strategical move on my part, in case of an infiltration or imposters living amongst the facility residents or employees. The hotel was an ideal place for detaining them, and confining them at a safe distance.
The hotel was also far removed from the rest of my Duhtchy in terms of distance and my personal involvement. So anyone who declined to stay there would be seen as suspicious.
Their shady disposition would be particularly noticeable, because the volunteering Omegas always elected to have a facility residency when they applied. So they no longer had a home of their own after years of living in the facility.
’Because why pay for a home when we provide free room and board? When all of your daily needs are provided for you in exchange for wealth and prestige, why waste money needlessly?’
On top of that, the imposters would have a hard time spying and gathering information about our movements from within the hotel, so it was the safest option that I could think of on such short notice.
"Good work, Hush. How many people do we have at the ready for my plan?" I asked.
He leaned in closer and thumbed through the documents that he had handed to me. Then, he stopped on a page and pulled it to the front.
"Ah. I see. We have 175 fighters. Not bad... Though I wish it was a little higher. Still, it’s a great number." I nodded in approval.
"Boss, the weaponry has all been distributed and evenly positioned throughout the Duhtchy." Kah’Mier said, as he leisurely strolled into my office.
"Understood. Have the vans been loaded as well?" I asked, looking up from the documents in my hands.
"Yes, Sir. 50 volunteers have been selected to assist in your covert operation as well." Kah’Mier said, coming to a stop in front of my desk.
I couldn’t help but smirk at the number of people who had volunteered to go fight with Ferdinand. No other Mafia King had the leeway to assist another King so freely, except for me.
Since my Duhtchy was practically a lawless zone, I had made extensive preparations to defend it, in the event that the government became too greedy.
Neither Ferdinand or Tristan expected me to lend them a helping hand. They no doubt assumed that I was lacking in weapons and manpower like everyone else.
But that couldn’t have been farther from the truth. I had been preparing for a situation just like this, ever since I accepted the position of Maihzdin’s Mafia King. It had always been a possibility that I would need to defend my Duhtchy against the greedy Government pigs, so I had no choice but to lay the necessary groundwork and make the essential preparations for that potential future.
"Boss, I do have more information to deliver, if you have time. It’s fairly important, in my opinion..." Kah’Mier said, interrupting my thoughts.
"Oh? What’s going on? Tell me, I’ve got time." I replied, giving him my full attention.
"Well, ever since we closed off the Duhtchy, there have been quite a few people who departed Maihzdin as well. I looked into it– due to the concerning number of people fleeing– and I learned that none of them were actually citizens to this Duhtchy... The Omegas in the hotel have also made complaints about suspicious people asking intrusive questions about their personal life and the facility..." Kah’Mier said, finishing his heavy report with a lengthy sigh.
While the other Kings were fretting about potential spies and possible intruders, I personally welcomed any idiots to do so. I would handle all suspicious individuals personally, and I would revel in the confrontation.
"Hush, gather the sentinels. We’ll head over there right now and get down to the bottom of this issue. Kah’Mier, send the volunteers to Ferdinand tonight. I’m not going to waste anymore time." I said, standing up from my desk.
"Understood, Sir." Kah’Mier said, bowing dutifully.
We headed to the hotel immediately. Hush had gathered all 15 members of my elite disciples, and we loaded into our respective SUV’s in earnest.
The drive over was riddled with tension, and I could tell that everyone was beyond irritated. I couldn’t blame them, I was also reaching my limit of tolerance.
Once we arrived at the hotel, we all exited the vehicles and made our way inside the hotel in an orderly fashion.
The two receptionists behind the desk lit up immediately upon our entry. It was a strange reaction due to the hotel belonging to Ferdinand, and my lack of involvement prior to today.
"Sir. It’s very good to see you. My name is Lahnette. How can I help you?" One said, looking at our party expectantly.
"I’m told there have been suspicious people loitering around this establishment. Do you know anything about it?" I asked.
They both nodded slowly and then pointed to their right. I turn toward the direction that they had indicated, and noticed a set of large white double doors.
"What lies beyond those doors?" I asked, curiously.
"That is our Dining Hall..."
I nodded, and then made my approach towards the doors.
’Now, let’s see how many rats we can eradicate from my Duhtchy...’
