Chapter 184: Chapter – 163 - An Unlikely Duo
Rahzden’s Point Of View
"Boss! Have you seen the news?" Dewayne asked in a panic, as he burst into my office.
"Yeah, I have. So what?" I asked, flippantly.
"What are we going to do? Our facility is at risk! We are at risk!" He exclaimed, breathing heavily.
"The government has no jurisdiction in Whastelahnd. And even if they did, they’d never come here personally. I know exactly what they’re aim is. I’m not concerned in the slightest." I sighed in annoyance.
"It is as you say, but still... Should we not make sure we won’t be affected by the new Edicts?"
"Go do your job! I said it’s fine!" I yelled, slamming a fist down onto my desk.
Dewayne flinched, and then quickly made his exit. Even though I said I wasn’t concerned, I was actually panicking internally. It was true that the federal government had no power or control over the Duhtchy. They had abandoned it long ago, when wars constantly broke out and the population was halved in the ensuing years.
If push came to shove, I could barter Remiddi to keep my facility running, but that was too big of a gamble, and I had never been a gambling man.
The problem was that I wasn’t sure what their actual goals were. Going after the Mafia Kings just to get to Tristan was a massive gamble. The Kings wouldn’t just sit and obey. The government had authority over their Duhtchies, but they never confronted any of them directly because they couldn’t afford to go to war with all of the Kings.
On the surface, this ploy seemed to be a way to twist the Kings arms so that they wouldn’t stand in their way to retrieve Tristan. They would no doubt seek to bargain with the Kings, and give them official contracts to keep their facilities. Though, the contracts would be riddled with ridiculous clauses, and unreasonable demands.
’Hmph! Well I don’t envy them. I hope you all rot! You reap what you sow, after all.’
*BZZZ... BZZZ... BZZZ...*
Just then, my phone began to ring, snapping me out of my thoughts. I glanced down at the screen, and saw that it was an unfamiliar number calling me. I answered, hesitantly.
"Hello?"
– Is this Rahzden?
An unfamiliar voice asked. I stood up immediately, and walked over to my office door to lock it.
"Who’s asking?" I replied, taking my seat once more.
– Ah, forgive me. This is Chazman, Director of the Legislator Branch. Do you have a moment?
"What’s this about?" I asked, nervously.
– I’m told that you have information that I need. I’m willing to bargain with you, if it turns out to be sufficient enough.
My mind began to churn a mile a minute. I knew that Ferdinand and Co. had unknowingly stepped on a massive landmine when they killed Chastaine and Danhiel. But I never thought that Danhiel’s Uncles would reach out to me, personally.
"What kind of information are you looking for?" I asked, intrigued.
– Information about the Kings, and also about the Omega named Tristan.
Chazmen’s voice was dripping with smug reassurance, and I couldn’t help but chuckle at his brazen request.
"I could provide you with the information that I know. Could you tell me why it is that you need this information? I must admit, you have me at a disadvantage. Giving this information could paint a large target on my back. I’d rather not have another brush with death again."
– The reason is confidential, but I can say that you are merely confirming information that we have already gathered. So rest assured, it will never be known that you supplied any information.
Even though he said that, he hadn’t given any confirmation about my safety, nor had he offered any protection. I weighed my options silently for a moment, working out the pros and cons of cooperating with them.
It was almost certain that this was all a plot of revenge, judging by the way he avoided answering my question. I had no loyalties to the Kings anymore. That door had been slammed shut in my face when they had unanimously agreed to ostracize me.
However, if their plan failed I would have to face Ferdinand and the other Kings when the light illuminated the shadows. Danhiel had always bragged about his powerful uncles, and the pull he had at his fingertips. I had more to gain from assisting them, and ensuring that their plan didn’t fail.
"What information do you need?" I asked, resolved to play my part.
–You raided Mafia King Ferdinand’s home in Sayenrio. Can you confirm that he has now relocated to his proper estate in StohneGarrdin?
"Yes. That was his last known location that I had recieved."
–And what of his mate? Is it actually Tristan?
"Without a doubt. However, you should know that Tristan actually has 4 mates in total."
–Hmm... Interesting... And how much do you know about the new Omega facilities that have popped up throughout Delgahtowe?
"It was an idea proposed by Tristan himself to all of the Mafia Kings. He apparently has the schematics and blueprints about his creation, and agreed to divulge said information to the Kings who agreed to his demands."
–What demands were made?
"The Kings signed a Death Seal Contract, their facilities must adhere to his rules without fail. So stupid."
–And how many Kings agreed to this contract?
"Including Zachariah, 8 Kings out of 14 agreed to sign."
–Understood... Do you know who was responsible for the deaths of my sister and nephew?
"Well I’m not completely privy to the details, considering that I was imprisoned at the time. But from what I gathered, the Kings had banned together to retrieve Tristan and Zachariah from Lady Chastaine. Ferdinand definitely had a hand in the death of your nephew, considering he was the one who raided the Lore’rahlye facility."
–And the whereabouts of my brother’s son, Ahliver?
"I have no information to give in that regard. I was not made privy to the details of the aftermath of Lady Chastaine’s estate assault. I do apologize."
–No need to apologize. You’ve been most helpful. I even learned some new and intriguing information... One last question, Rahzden.
"Yes?" I asked, warily.
–Is everything about that Omega true? Is he really the golden goose?
"He’s everything and more. Even though he is mated to 3 Dominant Alphas and 1 Hyper-Dominant Alpha, his pheromones still affect other Alphas, greatly. His beauty is undeniable, and his genetics are infallible. Given the amount of years that have passed, he is no doubt more of a prize than ever before."
–I see... Well, that’s all I needed to know. Is there anything that I can give you for the valuable information that you have given me?
"I only ask that you spare my facility, and allow me a front row seat to the grand finale of your plans. I want nothing more than to watch that bastard Omega suffer under his just desserts."
–Granted. I’ll be in touch.
He chuckled darkly before disconnecting the call.
I heaved a deep and weary sigh, as I sat back in my chair. I wasn’t sure what he would do with the information that I had given, but I hoped that they’d bring the hammer of justice down upon Tristan. I hoped that the whore Omega would suffer for the rest of his detestable life.
’After all, it’s only fair... I’ll make sure you suffer for the rest of your ignorant life... Just you wait!’
