Chapter 180: Side Story - 20 - And Now, To The Future

Tristan’s Point Of View

6 Years Later

"Mooove! Comin’ through!!" Arellany yelled, as he careened through the halls on his four-wheeler.

"Arellany! You’re going too fast! You need to slow down, or else you’ll crash!" I yelled, chasing after him.

He was an absolute handful, and a gigantic pain in the ass. Most children are shy when getting to know their surroundings, but not this kid. He was adventurous and crazy as hell, from the start.

"Arell, he told you to slow down little guy. That does not mean speed up!" Ferdinand yelled, jumping in front of the little car.

"Ah! A giant! Turn, turn, turn!" Arellany screamed happily.

"NO! That’s the stairs!" I yelled, noticing the trajectory of his wheels.

"Woo! Let’s gooo!"

Before we could stop him, he began to drive down the stairs at a blistering speed. I could only stare in horrified shock, as Ferdinand chased after him.

Before he could hit the wall at the bottom of the stairs, Sylvester scooped him up out of the toy car just in time. I exhaled a breath I hadn’t even realized I was holding, as Arellany giggled in Sylvester’s arms.

"Jeez, you really are too much, Arell. You could have been seriously hurt just now." Sylvester chided.

"Nuh-Uh. Someone is always there to ruin the fun. You guys worry too much. I’m fine." Arellany grumbled.

Sylvester looked between Arellany, Ferdinand, and me in worried concern. Ferdinand made it to the bottom of the stairs, and snatched up the four-wheeler.

"Until you learn your lesson, you cannot have this back. You’ll have to wait until the summer time to ride it outside." He said firmly, carring the car away.

"See! Fun sucker!" Arellany yelled, sticking out his tongue for good measure.

"Watch your mouth, or I’ll tell Bellamy." Sylvester smirked.

"You too, Sylvester?!" Arellany whined.

"We are just looking out for you, that’s all. You may not understand it yet, but you could get hurt doing something like that. What if you broke an arm, and the only way to save you was to cut it off?" Sylvester asked, dramatically.

"You’d cut off my arm?!" Arellany exclaimed.

"To save your life? Absolutely!" Sylvester laughed, squeezing him into a hug.

"I don’t want to have just one arm!"

"Then you gotta stop being so reckless, kiddo. Okay?" Sylvester said.

"Fine. I’ll be more careful..." Arellany sighed.

"Good. Now let’s go find your sister. I think she said she was going to make us cookies." Sylvester smiled.

"Yay! Tahlia makes amazing cookies!" Arellany said happily.

"Bel is in the lab right now. Apparently, his company wanted to get his opinion on a new formula they created." Sylvester said, as I walked down to greet him on the first floor.

"Thanks, Syl. For everything..." I sighed.

"It’s fine. I expect to be fully compensated anyway. It’s Wednesday, after all." He replied with a wink.

I glared up at him, my cheeks no doubt a rosy hue. He was being an opportunist at the worst time.

’How frikkin shameless can one man be?!’

"Haaah... Let’s just get going now..." I grumbled.

We made our way to the attached house that Ferdinand had built for the kids. Since it was the tail end of winter still, we didn’t want to take the route through the backyard. So instead, we took the underground tunnel that Ferdinand had insisted on installing.

At the time, I thought the idea was nonsensical. Considering that in the event of another invasion, the outside door could easily be compromised. However, true to their overprotective nature’s, they made sure that the security features of the house were state of the art.

As a farewell present of sorts– before he and Ezekihel left– Meyhymn had installed heavy metal doors that would slide down behind the front door, sealing it off completely. Walking through the tunnel, I couldn’t help but feel grateful that they had ignored my complaints and built it anyway.

We were completely shut off from the harsh cold of the outdoors, and the soft lights of the lanterns lining the tunnel, gave off their own kind of warmth.

Once we were inside the house, we could immediately smell the sweet scent of cookies wafting through its entirety.

"Mm... It smells so good!" Arellany said cheerfully.

"Yeah it does. Those girls never disappoint." Sylvester agreed, grinning from ear to ear as he set Arellany down.

"Well, they’ve had a lot of practice by now." I chuckled.

I could never forget the small kitchen that Ferdinand had created in the playroom back at our home in Sayenrio. The girls had loved to make cookies with the twins, and that fact had never changed, even after our abrupt move to StohneGarrdin.

The house that Ferdinand and Sylvester’s men had built for the kids was exceptional. It took my breath away everytime I came here.

He had made many upgrades to it, in order to keep the kids safe. And now, the girls rarely left it. When Kaleb left, I was worried that the hole he had left behind would never be filled. Even though I tried to keep in touch, he never replied to my texts, and he never answered my calls.

Gaibe had taken it upon himself to keep me informed about their health and well-being, and Kaleb seemed to be happy, so I couldn’t complain... Much.

Joobehlee, Arrisa, Sable, and Tahlia lived in the attached house. With Raihne, Payhne, Rohan, and Jasper as their 24 hour security team. I had heard from Ferdinand, that the girls basically used them as living mannequins.

We had had 6 blissful years of peace, but I couldn’t deny the feeling that trouble was brewing in the distance. We had just celebrated my 26th birthday along with Joobehlee’s 11th birthday, about 3 weeks ago.

Next would be Sable’s 16th Birthday in 2 weeks, and I knew she was extremely nervous. There was no way to help prepare her for what was coming, but Bellamy had worked extremely hard on a formula for better suppressants and inhibitors. He had said he was doing it for me and my siblings, but I knew deep down he was deeply worried about Arellany’s future.

We had gotten his 2nd gender test results back after his 4th birthday, and it turned out that his genetic make up was nearly identical to mine in every way. He was an Omega, and after Khali did some extensive tests on our blood, puberty did not look good for Arellany. Only time would tell how his reproductive capabilities would turn out, but Bellamy took the news the hardest.

’My only wish is that these times of peace will continue...’
