Chapter 179: Side Story - 19 - Some Getting Used To

Gaibe’s Point Of View

"Kaleb, Tristan had the baby. Would you like to see?" I asked.

"No... Was it a Girl, or a Boy?" He asked, not looking in my direction.

"It was a Boy. And he’s so adorable." I replied, laying next to him on my bed as he played with Kaihsie.

"Yeah, I bet he is. Tristan is his father after all." He grumbled.

Even though he acted like he couldn’t care any less, I knew the truth. Even after all this time, he wanted to go back to his siblings. It was heartbreaking, watching him try to harden his heart, and hide his emotions when it came to Tristan and the others. As if one false step, and he’d go running back in a heartbeat.

He had even stayed at my house while I went to Tristan’s baby shower. It was around that time, that I learned what was actually going on with him. He had helped me pick out clothes and toys for the newborn, but when the day came, he had thrown a fit and refused to go.

Wehsley then told me that Kaleb had spent the whole time sequestered in my room crying, and that he had looked after Kaihsie that day, instead. When I asked Tristan and Delcain for advice, they both laughed, but then quickly teared up.

They had then explained Kaleb’s erratic thought process. It wasn’t that he regretted his decision, he just never liked new places and he absolutely hated to feel alone or left out. After that, I quickly said my goodbyes and went back to Kaleb’s side.

He threw an even bigger fit when I caught him crying on my pillow. Then, he punched me when I could only smile at him. He was just so adorable to me. And so mentally fragile on the inside, but acted tough on the outside.

’How could I not cherish him?’

"You can look at his picture, Kaleb. It’s not like I’d let you go back without a fight..." I chuckled.

"Shut up. I said it’s fine." He said with a glare.

"Yeah, okay. I won’t push you, my Moody Prince."

"I told you to stop calling me that!"

"Yeah well, I’m a King. I don’t always have to listen to you, do I?" I grinned.

"Ugh... You’re so incredibly annoying." He sighed.

"And yet, you still like meee!" I teased.

"Like you, and tolerate you are two different things, dumbass."

I gasped dramatically. "Language, Kaleb!" I said, holding Kaihsie’s ears in feigned shock.

"Hahaha! Dub-ass!" Kaihsie repeated.

We both looked at her in shock, and then burst out laughing. She was already such a handful, and now she’d have a potty mouth just like her big brother.

"My goodness! What a terrible influence he is on my little princess! Now we have to call you the Potty-Mouth Princess." I laughed, snatching Kaihsie away from Kaleb.

"Stop with the stupid nicknames! It was one time, damn it!"

"Damn! Damn!" Kaihsie laughed cheerfully.

"You were saying?" I asked with a raised brow.

"It’s your fault!" Kaleb said, his cheeks flushed.

"Yeah, yeah... Don’t go blaming me for things I didn’t do. You said those wordy dirds all on your own." I teased, holding Kaihsie high up and away from his reaching hands.

"Give her back, jerk!" He demanded with an adorable glare.

"Hmm? On one condition." I said, swooping down and planting an unsuspecting kiss on his lips.

He stopped his flailing, and looked up at me in stunned silence. He was just too adorable and so fun to tease. I could never get bored of him.

"What do you want? Only a true ass– jerk would use a baby as a bargaining chip!" He said, defiantly.

I chuckled at the seriousness in his eyes. I was just glad that he hadn’t gotten offended at my actions.

"You have to sleep in my room tonight." I said with a smile.

When he moved in, I gave him and Kaihsie their own room together so he wouldn’t feel pressured. The only problem was, that in the months that he had been here, he only stayed in my room when he had his heat cycle.

Which wouldn’t be a problem, if he had an normal cycle. In truth, he had only had one heat cycle since being here. Meaning, he had only spent 4 days in my room.

And although he would spend his days in my room with me when I asked, he never stayed the night. Sex wasn’t a necessity for me, but I was still a man, and he was a giant tease. He would use Kaihsie as an excuse everytime, but I had hired two nannies to look after her a month ago, so they were basically getting paid for nothing right now.

"Wha? You can’t be serious! I told you, I don’t want Kaihsie to wake up alone..." He said, his voice slowly losing its fight.

"Right. And to help with that, I hired nannies. How can they look after her, if you never let them? You vetted the ladies yourself and had no complaints. So what are you really avoiding now?" I asked, handing Kaihsie back to him.

"I’m not avoiding anything. You said we could stay in our own room together, so that’s what I did. Now all of a sudden it’s a problem?"

"I never said it was a problem. You can sleep in there tomorrow. But tonight, you stay with me."

"And if I refuse?"

"Will you refuse?" I asked, feigning hurt.

"Haaah... you suck!" He said spinning around, and storming out of my room.

I couldn’t help but laugh uproariously. He had never told me no whenever I made a request of him, and it seemed he wasn’t going to start now.

’Seriously, he’s just so damn cute!’

I left my room to look for Wehsley. I didn’t need to go too far, he was instructing the housekeepers on their upcoming schedules.

"Ah, Young Master. What do you need?" He said in a light and joyous tone.

He had been over the moon upon Kaleb’s arrival, and doubly so upon meeting Kaihsie. He had been in a cheerful mood ever since. It seemed that nothing could diminish the daily smile on his face now.

"Kaleb and I will have dinner in my room today. Could you make sure the nannies properly take care of Kaihsie tonight?"

"It will be my pleasure, Sir. Will this be an all night affair?" He asked, looking hopeful.

"That’s the plan." I said, walking back to my room.

A few hours later, Kaleb came shuffling back into my room, hair still wet from an apparent shower. He looked nervous and defeated.

"Why do you look like you’re walking to the Gallows?" I chuckled, as he searched for me nervously.

His gaze locked on to mine, as I stood at my table preparing his plate. When he looked between me and the food, his eyes widened.

"Why do you look so surprised? Should I not feed my Moody Prince?" I teased, delighting in the grimace that slowly spread across his face.

"You’re insufferable, y’know that?" He said, slowly making his way towards the table.

"But you love it. So what does that say about you, you masochist?"

He glared at me, but couldn’t find a single rebuttal. Once he sat down, he began eating without a word. I had learned through trial and error about his likes and dislikes. Beef was his favorite meat, and broccoli was his favorite vegetable, though only if steamed and smothered in cheese.

Everything else he just simply tolerated, never outright rejecting them and always finishing his meals. I ate slowly, watching him tear through his plate at a blistering speed. My every move was calculating. There was a reason I chose this meal for dinner tonight.

Once he was done, he looked up at me with a start. He had been focused solely on the food in front of him until it was gone.

"Were you that eager to be in my bed?" I chuckled.

His face went beet red at the assumption. I knew that wasn’t actually the case, but I also knew he never held back when it came to his favorite foods.

"It’s not like that and you know it... UGH! You did this on purpose, didn’t you?!" He said, the realization shining in his eyes.

I set my cutlery down, and stood up from the table. I was hungry, but not for food, and if dinner was food that he actually liked, he wouldn’t waste time eating it.

"I’m sure I don’t know what you are talking about." I smirked, releasing a bit of my pheromones as I stood before him.

"You really are a perverted asshole..." Kaleb said, breathlessly.

"Is it perverted to like you? Is it perverted to find you irresistibly adorable? I don’t really think so..." I said, grabbing his chin.

His eyes widened at my words, clearly processing them slowly.

"Y-You... Like... Me?" He stuttered.

"Come to bed, Kaleb. And I’ll show you just how much." I said, caressing his lips with my thumb.

’How could I ever let go of you? My little Moody Prince...’
