Chapter 172: Side Story - 12 - A Deafening Silence
Josephine’s Point Of View
The trip to Wess’Mohrean had been surprisingly delightful. Rohlander never left my side, and we ended up much closer because of it. The other ladies had each found themselves 3-4 men to bring back for their, "entertainment" and the ride back to StohneGarrdin was as lively as ever.
"Sooo Josie, how hot and steamy did you get?" Nahana asked, as she nudged my arm and winked.
"Haha. It’s not like that at all. Roh is a good guy. Our companionship started off crazy. If felt good to just relax and take it easy for a change. We just got to know each other a little better, that’s all."
Once we had gotten to Wess’Mohrean they had gotten a few hotel suites, and set out immediately. I stayed in the hotel for the most part, only leaving with Rohlander to buy souvenirs for Del and the other kids.
It had been a nice change of pace, and I really did enjoy it. Rohlander was an absolute sweetheart and a gentleman. Though, if I was being honest I would have loved it if he had just a tad bit more confidence in himself.
"So you mean to tell me, while we were having the absolute sinful time of our lives, you were frikkin pillow talking?!?" Odehssa exclaimed.
"Haha. Ladies, I’ve lived that life already, albeit against my will, I’ve done it all the same. And now, I just want to relax and take life slow. Especially since everything keeps happening at break neck speed lately." I chuckled.
"Well true. But we all need a little extra fluffin’ every now and then." Meahlene chuckled.
They had spent the week plowing through Alphas and Omegas alike. I couldn’t be sure if it was because they were women, or if it was just their nature, but they were the type of customers the Omega women back at the facility could only dream about.
They were upfront and honest about what they wanted, and what they were looking for, and even over compensated the ones they just ended up having flings with.
And if I was being honest, I absolutely loved hanging out with them. Even if they were a touch too open, it was fun to just be around them.
I had expirenced many firsts with them, and was pampered beyond the realm of necessity. I would absolutely love to do it again.
"Well, do you think you would at least be open to dating Roh?" Meahlene asked.
I paused for a bit, taken aback by the question. I could feel my cheeks turning red immediately.
"N-No... I wouldn’t mind. But he’s young, and I’m barren... There would be no future for him with someone like me..."
It was unfair to tie Rohlander to me when I couldn’t even bare him any children. It would be cruel.
"You never know, maybe he doesn’t want children. There are far too many Alphas and Betas in the world anyway, and Omega children don’t exactly have good options in life right now. You should at least talk about it with him." Odehssa said.
Truth be told, I had asked Rohlander about his future, and whether or not he wanted children. He said that he at least wanted two. A son and daughter if he could, and that had ultimately sealed my fate. Cementing my decision to keep things platonic with him, as best I could.
"Hey ladies, we’re almost back at the estate now." Solomon said.
We all began to look out the window in earnest. Even though we had had a relaxing week, you could tell that everyone was tired from all of the excitement that was had. It only intensified, the closer we got to the estate.
"Sol, could you tell Rohlander to take our toys to the guest house? I would like to see my son and grand babies before going to rest." Meahlene said.
"Absolutely, ma’am."
He radioed to the other car, and shortly after it split from our caravan and made its way around back to the guest house.
Once our van pulled up and parked in front of the main estate, we all climbed out of the vehicle and stretched.
"Goodness. Even though I had a shit ton of fun, I’ve missed those cute adorable faces. Let’s hurry girls." Nahana said, cheerfully.
We followed after her to the house, and Torhrezz was there opening the doors before we could even knock.
"Hey, Torh. Anything exciting happen while we were away?" Nahana asked, walking through the doors.
"Quite a bit, actually. Though I don’t believe I should be the one to tell you." He said, not meeting our eyes.
We all shared worried glances, and made our way upstairs immediately. We all instinctively went to the playroom first, to check on the kids.
When we opened the door, Arrisa was softly sobbing into Payhne’s chest and Delcain was sitting next to Sable. They both looked equally heartbroken.
"What happened? Ari, tell mama Meah what’s wrong? Who’s ass do I need to kick?"
"Grammy! Kaleb left! And he took Kaihsie too!" She wailed, running straight into Meahlene’s arms.
I looked up in wide eyed shock at Delcain. He stood up and solemnly made his way over to me.
"What does she mean, he left? Where did he go? And why?" I asked him, as I pulled him into my arms.
"He met an Alpha, and left to be with him, I guess. He said it was the safest decision he could make for him and Kaihsie. Such an asshole..." Del sighed.
I wasn’t sure how he had met this Alpha, but I knew that Ferdinand and Co. would never let him leave with just anyone. Tristan especially. And since I had practically helped raise all of these children, having one leave definitely hurt, especially since I didn’t get to say my farewells.
However, I completely understood where Kaleb was coming from. Until new laws were passed or another Omega was born like Tristan, these children would never know true peace. After Kaleb had been taken, he had worn a dark expression everyday. I knew it was only a matter of time before he made a big move.
’Though I never imagined that it would be to move out...’
"Do you know where Tristan is?" I asked no one in particular.
"He’s probably asleep. Apparently, he’s pregnant..." Sable sighed in reply.
It felt like all of the oxygen had been swiftly sucked out of the room. Everyone turned to her, jaws practically on the floor.
"WHAT!?!" We all exclaimed in unison.
"Yup. That’s how our morning went. Gained a potential niece or nephew, but lost a brother and sister..." Sable said, her fists clenched.
I could tell that the kids were dealing with warring emotions, both happy for the addition to the family, but devastated by the loss of members too.
"Nope! Sleeping or not, I have questions!" Meahlene said, releasing Ari and spinning around to leave the room. The rest of us were hot on her heels.
It was a terrifying situation for a male Omega like Tristan to be pregnant, but I was insanely excited for him as well. Seraphine would have died from the shock alone. The fact that he had chosen to keep it was not lost on me either. He had grown up so much since running away. I wanted to hold him now more than ever. If not for myself, then at least for Seraphine.
Meahlene moved in a blurring speed. She raced up the stairs, and knocked on each door, then stood in the middle of the hallway, awaiting any replies.
Ferdinand’s door opened to show a sleepy Cole, and Meahlene immediately squeezed his cheeks together with both her palms.
"Listen closely Cole... Where is my son-in-law?" She said slowly.
"In bed... Asleep... Morning Sickness.... A gigantic pain in the ass..." He replied, rubbing his eyes.
"Can we see him?" She asked, eyes filled with worry.
"Sure, why not. Only the guys will complain..." He replied, stepping out of the way.
We entered the room, and immediately came to an abrupt stop. The Alpha’s pheromones were downright oppressive, and it wasn’t just one scent in the air. They had all contributed to the chaos.
"Sweet Gods... this is a bit much, no?" Nahana said, slapping a hand over her nose.
"Well, to be honest.... If we don’t keep it like this, he gets sick at the slightest unwanted smell. He can’t keep anything down." Ferdinand said, rousing from the bed.
"Did you boys try any sort of protein shakes or smoothies?" Meahlene tisked.
They each shared a bemused look, and then shook their heads.
"Jeez! I’m glad we came back when we did. My poor son-in-law would have withered away..." Meahlene chided.
"Which one of you is responsible for this situation?" Odehssa asked.
No one said anything, but they all looked in Bellamy’s direction.
"Of course it was... I’m not even surprised... Greedy bastard...." Nahana cackled.
The sound woke Tristan, who looked up at us with bleary eyes. Then, he gave a lopsided smile and reached out towards us.
"Welcome back, Moms and aunties..."
You could practically hear the maternal instincts explode in unison. The poor boy looked sick as hell and tired beyond reason, yet he still welcomed us with a smile.
"That’s it. Bring my baby, and a bucket. We need to feed him immediately!" Meahlene said in a huff.
I agreed. He definitely needed a mother’s help.
’I’m so glad we came back when we did...’
