Chapter 165: Side Story - 5 - Welcome To Shailhade
Dyahlettah’s Point Of View
"M’Lady, should we go through the vetting process of applicants today?" Mahrinette asked.
"Yes. That seems reasonable. There are quite a few, no?" I replied.
"Yes. Over 45 citizens answered your call for employment. Though, we won’t be able to judge their character until we interview them."
"True. How many will you schedule today?" I asked, standing up from my desk.
"I will schedule 10 today. The first interview will be in 1 hour. Please allow Celestine to assist you in getting ready, so that I may prepare, instead." She replied.
"Of course. Please take Aihmie along with you, for assistance."
"As you wish, M’Lady." She bowed, before exiting my office.
I was proud of the women in my faction. They had far exceeded my expectations for the new facility that I was going to run. It was more spacious than I had initially requested, and they were all extremely happy to assist with its management.
The facility was less than 15 miles from my estate, and given the acres of land that my estate resided on, it was practically next door. For security reasons, the facility was not walking distance. There was a large forest between it and my home, but the girls had gathered help from the citizens to clean up the building and make it livable in just over a week.
I was surprised to learn that 15 women from my faction had volunteered to be teachers for any and all Omegas that we took in. Even though I was strict when it came to discrimination against genders in my faction and among my citizens in my Duhtchy, I also understood that it was impossible to force a person to change.
My Duhtchy had fewer Alphas than most, due to the prostitution ban that I had enacted upon becoming a Mafia King. However, since my Duhtchy also bordered an ocean, it was a major tourist hub and vacation spot.
"M’Lady, we should get going now. As you well know, Mahrinette is a fast and diligent worker." Celestine chuckled.
"Too true. She’s been especially dutiful as of late, no?"
"Indeed. Though it seems as though her diligence is infectious. Several others are also working double time to make sure the new facility is a success."
Celestine held open my bedroom door for me, as I walked in and headed straight for my closet. I wasn’t particularly picky about what I wore while in my Duhtchy, but this wasn’t a casual meeting I would be having.
We would need to set the tone with my appearance, so that people didn’t take me lightly.
"M’Lady, if I could be so bold... I do believe this outfit would be most beneficial to wear today." Celestine said, as she placed a suit against my body.
She was right. It was indeed the perfect outfit to wear. It was a black and gold three piece suit, with flared black slacks, and a gold trim button up.
I smiled softly, and allowed her to help me put it on. I finished out the outfit with black stiletto boots that had gold heels, and a gold zipper.
"Perfection." Celestine cooed.
I smiled and headed out the door. Celestine grabbed my bag, and other small things that I might need, before following me out of my room.
"Cassahndra will be driving you today, and I will sit with you. Is that acceptable?" Celestine asked, as we walked down the stairs to the front doors.
"Yes, of course."
Cassahndra was another woman in my faction who had gone above and beyond to finish the facility. She had spearheaded the security features, and installed all manner of screens to help with teaching the Omegas and protecting them.
I heard that she had gone through town announcing potential new jobs under my direct management. I had a suspicion that she played a major role in why we had so many applicants now. She had no doubt spoken of all the perks that came with working for me.
As we made our way out of my estate, Cassahndra was waiting outside, standing next to the SUV with the back door already open.
"Thank you, Cassahndra." I said, before climbing into the vehicle.
Celestine followed me inside and shut the door herself. Then, she looked at me wearily, as Cassahndra skipped to the driver’s side door.
"See? Infectious..." She sighed.
I couldn’t help but chuckle. It was nice to know that the ladies were putting their all into this endeavor. I had been worried that it would be too much extra work for them to take on. I owned 2 resorts and 3 hotels in Shailhade, so I was hoping to start small and then later on build up to a large facility.
But these women had other goals in mind. They didn’t want any of the other Kings to look down on me, so they were pulling out all the stops with the new facility.
*VZZZ... VZZZ... VZZZ...*
As Cassahndra began to pull out from my estate, I heard my phone vibrate.
"M’Lady, it’s a phone call from Waihlynn. Would you like to answer it?" Celestine asked, pulling my phone out of my purse.
"Yes." I replied, taking the phone from her at once.
While it wasn’t rare for most of the Kings to call and check up on me, when it came to the triplets however, Aidehynn was the one who usually called. So seeing that Waihlynn was calling, was certainly a surprise.
"Hello?" I said, answering the call.
–Hey Dyah. How’s your facility coming along?
"Just fine, thank you. I’m on my way to hold interviews to vet the new applicants. It’s rare to see you calling me Waihlynn, what’s wrong?" I teased.
–Ah... Well, about that... I was wondering if you had the space to take about 25 to 30 Omegas off our hands. We’re in over our heads here at the moment.
I sat there in stunned silence. Aidehynn had already created a functioning facility, so I was rather concerned about why they couldn’t handle it.
"I can... But why can’t you and Aidehynn handle things between the two of you?"
–It’s not so much of an Omega problem, as it is an Omega from Lore’rahlye problem. We can’t take care of their constitutions, and look after the younger ones. More than half of the Omegas are of age, but we don’t have the manpower to spare on the younger ones.
"So what exactly are you asking me to do here?" I asked, confused.
–Will you take in the women and children at least? It would reduce the workload immensely for us. As it stands, we spend most of the time trying to help the older ones from exploding with pheromones every two days, we barely have time to teach the young ones much of anything.
"And what about Aidehynn’s facility?"
– He’s going to hire caretakers for some of the older Omegas. He said he’d send you the Omegas that are 9 and under if you agreed. He said he doesn’t know the first thing about raising children, and these are no ordinary children, so it’s especially challenging.
I could tell from his voice, that he was already tired beyond reason. I could guess that they didn’t want to get on Tristan’s bad side, and neglecting the Omega children would definitely do that.
"Sure. My girls are ready. I’ll take 30 of your Omegas off your hands... For a price, that is." I chuckled.
–You name it, and it’s yours. You’re really saving our asses here. We can have them there by tomorrow if that’s okay.
"Sure. I’ll let you know the price later." I said, hanging up the phone.
"What’s going on M’Lady? You seem much happier now, all of a sudden." Celestine asked.
"Yes. We will be getting 30 Omegas tomorrow. They are the women and children from the Lore’rahlye facility. And a King now owes me a favor. Today truly is a good day." I cackled.
"We’re here, M’Lady." Cassahndra said, as she parked the car.
We climbed out of the vehicle, and headed to the main doors of the facility. Just as Celestine had said, Mahrinette was already standing at the door waiting.
"The first round of applicants are already inside waiting." Mahrinette said, as we walked through the doors.
There were 5 chairs along both hallway walls, and in them, were 10 nervous looking hopefuls.
I walked down the hall and turned to the left. My office was among the first few rooms of the facility. Once inside, I sat behind my desk, and looked up at Mahrinette standing by the door.
"Mahrinette, summon 15 more applicants to interview today. We will be getting some Omegas tomorrow, so we need to be ready for that." I said.
She looked at me in surprise, and then smiled wide.
"As you wish, M’Lady."
"Send in the first applicant."
’Let’s just hope that enough of them can make the cut...’
