Chapter 143: Chapter - 143 The Birthday Bash

Kaleb’s Point Of View

"Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear Kaleb! Happy Birthday to yooooouuuu!"

I should have known this would happen. The same thing happened last year as well. It never gets any easier however. My heart is still pounding in my chest and I’m barely awake. My big brother always made a big deal out of our Birthdays, but I could never find any joy in the celebration. This year especially...

"Big Brother... it’s too early in the morning for this..." I grumbled, not even daring to look in his direction.

"Awww... but it’s not just me this time. Everyone pitched in to celebrate your birth. So... Get. Up!"

"Whoa!... Ow, ow, ow..." I groaned, as my body unexpectedly hit the floor.

Tristan had literally yanked me out of bed this time, but he wasn’t big enough to catch me, so I hit the floor instead. When I looked up to glare at him, I realized what he meant. He hadn’t been the only one to come and wake me up. Our uncles, my sisters, and the extended family were all clustered in my room.

"Happy Birthday Kaleb!" They exclaimed in unison.

"Uhm... yeah... T-Thanks..." I mumbled.

"Big brother Kaleb...? You should get dressed now. There is a huge party happening today for you!" Arrisa said, giving me a hug.

She was practically trembling with excitement. I ruffled her hair and stood up. As I scanned the room, everyone looked ridiculously happy. I was starting to feel like an asshole, because I couldn’t share the sentiment.

"Okay. Okay. Get out. I get it. I’ll get dressed now." I sighed, waving dismissively.

"Okay! Meet us in the dining room for breakfast then. You’ll love it I swear." Tristan said, even happier than before.

They filed out of my room and I heaved a heavy sigh. I turned 16 today. Which meant I would also get my first heat tonight. I was far from excited about any of it.

I took a quick shower and put on some clothes. It was strange putting on clothes that I hadn’t picked out nor had I seen before. The staff here did everything for us. I was surprised they didn’t wash us and brush our teeth too.

As I did my final checks on my appearance, I headed out of my bedroom and down to the first floor. Since the nannies here worked around the clock, Kaihsie and Tahlia were no longer my alarm clocks. It felt strange not having to make them a bottle this early in the morning as well.

"Woo! There’s the birthday boy! C’mon, Come eat." Sylvester said, draping an arm across my shoulders and leading me to a seat beside Tristan.

"Aren’t you guys being a little too extra for my birthday?" I asked, confused.

"Nonsense. All birthday’s should be celebrated. No matter how scary they might be." Ferdinand said, bringing me a plate.

I couldn’t help but widen my eyes at the large strawberry pancakes, sunny side up eggs, bacon, and diced potatoes. They were all my favorite things to eat. Tristan would make this meal for me whenever I was sad or anxious. No matter what time of day it was.

I looked up at him, unable to hide the tears forming in my eyes, and he gave me a tight hug.

"We’re not alone anymore, little brother. We live surrounded by people who care about us and our well-being. Everything will be fine." Tristan whispered softly.

I couldn’t hold back my tears anymore and just cried outright. I never stopped to think about everyone else and how they could help. I now felt like an even bigger asshole.

"Alright, enough tears. The day’s just getting started. Let’s eat." Tristan said, as he released me and kissed my forehead.

I gave a resigned nod and began eating. Everything was delicious. I completely inhaled everything without a second thought. Once I was done, I leaned back in my chair with a content sigh.

"Would you like some more?" A server asked me.

"No. Thank you, though..." I replied.

Everyone seemed to finish at the same time and also leaned back in their chairs. Then Ferdinand looked over at Torhrezz and gave a slight nod.

"Alright Young Master Kaleb, right this way if you will." Torhrezz said, ushering me out of a door that I hadn’t come in through.

We made a few more turns and we soon arrived at a large set of double doors. Torhrezz pushed them open, to reveal the massive back yard. It was filled to the brim with all manner of things I had never seen before. I could only stare with my mouth wide open.

"Whoa! What is all of this!?" Arrisa exclaimed.

"Children, please go and play to your heart’s content. We will have cake and ice-cream when you are ready Kaleb, and then you may open your presents. Sound good?" Torhrezz asked.

I could do nothing but nod. Then everyone took off for the yard. Tristan was holding Synnahmen’s hand as they ran off as well. I was practically frozen in shock and awe. I wasn’t even sure what to do with most of the stuff that I could see. And the smells wafting from the food was enticing, even though I had just eaten a pretty big breakfast.

"Hey Kaleb, can I talk to you for a bit...?" Ferdinand asked, hesitantly.

"Uhm... sure?" I replied, nervously.

He pulled me over to the side and made sure no one was within earshot before he started speaking.

"I heard that you will have your first heat tonight. You should know that we have made all non-mated Alphas sleep in the guest houses, and they will be there for a week. Khali will be on stand-by if you need her as well. Also, if you want... I can arrange to have a female Omega, Beta, or Alpha come over to help you. And before you disagree, know that I would never allow anyone to harm you or degrade you in any way. The choice is absolutely yours..." He said seriously.

It was embarrassing to have this conversation with my brother’s mate, because I wasn’t sure if Tristan knew or would find out. He’d definitely be against me choosing company, but if I was being honest, I didn’t want to spend my first heat cycle alone like everyone else did. However there was one problem with his request.

"You won’t tell Tristan right. Even if he asks?" I asked, seriously.

"If that’s what you want then no, I will not tell him. He honestly doesn’t even know I’m giving you this option. I’m just trying to handle this the same way my father handled my first rut..." Ferdinand said, as he chuckled.

"Oh. I see. But... I don’t want a... woman though..." I said, unable to meet his eyes anymore.

"Ha ha ha! Why say it like that? You know I love your big brother with my entire being. But I’ll be honest, I had never been with a guy before him. Its good to know what you want from the start. Don’t treat it like a bad thing. I’ll get a line up of guys to show you pictures of so you can pick one yourself. Unless you already have someone in mind?" He asked with a smirk.

"Uh... uhm... I’ll think about it..." I mumbled before heading off to the yard.

The conversation would become so awkward if I said what I was thinking without weighing my options first. Though I had to admit to myself that Ferdinand was actually a really good guy... even though he seemed ridiculously obsessed with my brother. He also seemed to care about us a great deal.

"Kaleb! Come jump in the ball pit with us!" Arrisa yelled.

She was having the time of her life with Delcain, Tristan, Sable, Synnahmen, and Ezekihel. So I decided to join in on the fun as well.

We played for hours, on everything at least 4 times. The obstacle course was so hilarious watching Tristan and Syn get smacked around by everything. We ate snow cones, and burgers. Hot dogs and personal pizzas.

We played Lazer Tag. Me and Del absolutely dominated. That is, until our uncles joined in on the games. They mopped the floor with us. Meyhymn was the undefeated champion.

Then we had cake and ice-cream. And before I knew it, it was time to open my presents. I had expected a couple of presents from my siblings, at best. I was wholly unprepared for the mountain of presents stacked into a large pyramid inside the Great Room.

It was taller than me. I looked back at Tristan, exasperated, and he just smiled and shrugged his shoulders. It would appear that everyone had gotten me a present. It took me nearly an hour to open everything. I was positively brimming with happiness by the time I got to the last present. They really went out of their way to make today enjoyable. I couldn’t be more happy.

When things began to wind down and people began to disburse for the evening, Ferdinand gave me a knowing look and I immediately averted my eyes.

’It’s just so awkward to admit it...’
