Chapter 142: Chapter - 142 Preparations Complete

Tristan’s Point Of View

*Knock... Knock... Knock...*

"Young Master, it is time to wake up."

I sat up slowly and rubbed my eyes. My everything hurt. I noticed the bruises on my wrist, and just knew they weren’t the only ones. Ferdinand had been an absolute monster last night, and I was helpless against him.

I wished I could be mad about it, but as a whole my body was absolutely satisfied. It was infuriating, and unreasonably ridiculous.

"Young Master, I’ve brought you your breakfast." Torhrezz said, opening the door.

I realized too late that Ferdinand wasn’t even in the bed anymore, and that I was completely frikkin naked. I quickly pulled the covers up to my chest, and looked around for my clothes.

"Oh? Good Morning Tristan. Mrs. Kristi informed me that you enjoy Cream of Wheat. So I had them make you some, along with some scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. I also have some pomegranate juice for you to drink as well." Torhrezz said, paying me no mind as he placed the trays of food on the table in Ferdinand’s room.

"Oh... Uhm... Thank you?" I said, nervously.

"No need to be nervous. I actually needed to discuss something with you anyway." He smiled warmly.

"Uhm... Something like what?" I asked clutching the covers tighter.

I felt like an ass for being so conscious of him, but I honestly couldn’t help it. The last thing I wanted to do right now was hold a conversation.

"The preparations for Kaleb’s birthday party are complete. Shall I go over the itinerary with you?" Torhrezz asked, unbothered by my lack of dress.

"Uhm... I should probably put some clothes on first, no?" I asked, hesitantly.

"Oh, no. Perish the thought. I heard my nephew was being quite unreasonable yesterday. Just lay back down and get comfortable. I assure you it’s quite alright." He replied calmly.

I couldn’t understand how anyone could relax in a situation like this, but he seemed steadfast in his ways. So the next best option was to let him finish quickly.

’Stubbornness must certainly run in the family.’

"Ugh... okay... If you say so..." I finally relented.

"Wonderful! Alright, so the festivities will begin at 9am sharp. We will serve his favorite breakfast items. At 10am the back yard should be completed. It will be equipped with an inflatable jungle gym, a bounce house, an inflatable ball pit, a face painting stand, a snow cone stand, a cotton-candy stand, a BBQ and Grill stand, and a Lazer Tag zone. We will have cake and ice-cream at 1pm. And wrap things up with present opening time at 2pm. Does that sound acceptable?" He asked, smiling proudly.

Meanwhile, my head was spinning. There was entirely too much going on for his party, and this man seemed to truly believe that 3 hours was enough time to enjoy everything. It was unbelievable.

"Uhm... Torhrezz...? Have you ever raised sheltered children before?" I asked, quizzically.

"Sheltered children...? I’m not sure I know what you mean..." He replied, perplexed.

"Yeah... I’ll take that as a no. I can guarantee you that 3 hours of play time will not be nearly enough. The kids just experienced a ball pit for the first time in Sayenrio. I have no doubt that they won’t know about anything else that you mentioned, because I barely know myself... Those kids will lose both their minds, and track of time..." I sighed, exasperated.

Meanwhile, Torhrezz seemed even more excited about the party than before this conversation even started.

"Excellent! I will spare no expense then! Thank you Young Master, I will make more preparations at once!" He said happily, before leaving the room in a blur.

I sat there blinking in a daze. I wasn’t sure why he had gotten even more excited, and I was honestly worried about how much more the party would spiral out of control by tomorrow.

I laid back down and gripped my head. The headache I felt coming on was especially strong. Then I realized that the bathroom door was wide open and that Ferdinand was not in his room at all. And judging by the massive headache that was mounting, he hadn’t been in quite some time.

Suddenly, there was another knock on the door. My latest intruder didn’t bother waiting for my reply however, and just opened the door. In walked Bellamy and Sylvester one right after the other. Bellamy was looking exceptionally evil, while Sylvester was looking a little green around the gills.

"Hmm? I thought for sure that bastard would be in here. Haah... whatever. Good Morning, Tristan. You feeling okay?" Bellamy asked.

"No he’s not. His headache is ridiculously strong. Where the hell is Ferdinand?" Sylvester asked, as he climbed into bed with me.

He released his pheromones softly, and my headache went away, immediately. I leaned against him with a grateful sigh, breathing him in even more.

"Hey, will you handle the security aspect of Kaleb’s Birthday Party?" I asked Sylvester.

"Well, there is a good chance you’ll want to postpone it once I say what I have to say..." He replied.

"What do you mean?" I asked, looking up at him in confusion.

"Yeah well before that, here Tristan." Bellamy said.

He sat next to me and pushed an injection into my arm. Then, he removed the cover over my left leg and injected me with another one.

"You should really eat something, too." He said, as he brought over my tray of food.

"What did you inject me with?" I asked, as I picked up a piece of toast.

"Don’t worry about it." Bellamy said, waving me off.

I couldn’t help but look at him suspiciously. He never injected me with something he couldn’t tell me what it was.

"So anyway Tristan, Lady Josephine has given us some worrisome information..." Sylvester said, spooning some cream of wheat for me.

"What news...?" I asked, accepting the offered food.

"Well... Danhiel’s mother was never the problem. It was his uncles. Not only that, but we haven’t seen or heard anything pertaining to his sister." Sylvester sighed.

"Wait... uncles? Sister? What are you talking about?" I asked.

I didn’t remember hearing anything about his extensive family. Especially him having a sister.

"Well... I’m pretty sure his sister was the one leading the ATF inspection at the hotel. One of his uncles works for the Legislators. While the other works for the Judicials... That man should have practically been untouchable..." Sylvester replied.

"Which is probably why he acted so brazen all the time..." Bellamy added.

"I don’t know what any of that means..." I said, completely confused.

"Haah... where’s a government textbook when you need it...?" Bellamy said, placing a hand on his forehead.

"We already explained what the ATF was. But the Legislators basically make up the laws that govern this world. Then the Judicials pretty much make everyone follow said laws. They police the police. They are the judges in court. They make sure the laws are obeyed by everyone." Sylvester explained, looking sick to his stomach.

"So did we break any laws that could be traced back to us?" I asked, concerned.

The one thing I knew, was that being abreast of the situation did me no good if I didn’t actually understand the full gist of things.

"Well no, but that’s not the problem. When his uncles find out that both Danhiel and Chastaine are dead, and trace their deaths back to us... there is a good chance that they could use underhanded tricks to flush us out." Bellamy said.

"Underhanded how? Is it really that easy to use the law for personal vendettas?" I asked.

The powers that be would surely rear their ugly heads, but if it was so easy to abuse their power like that, then the public at large were either a heard of sheep, or merely blind to it all. Neither scenario was a good one.

"Well... hence the word underhanded. They could make Ferdinand, Sylvester, Cole, and I public enemy number 1. They could paint any story they wanted to about us and we would be helpless against it. They would use the public to get rid of us, and take you and your siblings back." Bellamy explained.

"After all, to them, you and your siblings are just government property. They could say any number of things about you and your siblings. Alpha mobs would come for you in droves." Sylvester added.

"That sounds terrifying. But it shouldn’t happen in just 1 day right? Why postpone Kaleb’s Birthday Party?" I asked.

"We’re still down a lot of men since the last attack. They are able to walk around, since they were able to come out and greet us. But they are not up to snuff for fighting. I’m bringing in two more of my men but it’s still not enough. Because this time, we don’t actually know who the attackers will be, or where they’ll come from." Sylvester said.

"Well it’s fine. I don’t want to jinx it by saying nothing will happen, but I think Torhrezz might actually implode if we told him to hold off on the party. He’s way too excited...." I sighed.

Hearing all the problems surrounding us again didn’t feel great, and I had lost my appetite part way through the discussion, but I didn’t want to take tomorrow away from Kaleb. So we would definitely celebrate his birth with aplomb.

’Just give us a week without any damn intruders! Could you do that for me Gods?’
