Chapter 977: Chapter 538: The Treasure of the King of Persia
Upon returning to the tribe, Elder Hassan immediately called people to move the items.
The items discovered in the Cave Storehouse belonged to the entire tribe, so naturally, they were to be distributed to the people within the tribe.
Seeing that Hassan prioritized giving the items to the families of the fallen villagers, Sean Knight nodded and went to his room.
Zena Fitzgerald was in the room when she heard the door, and upon seeing Sean Knight enter, she immediately stood up and hurried over to help him change clothes.
After shedding the robe wrapped around him, Sean Knight also pulled off his headscarf and put it aside.
Zena meticulously folded the robe and headscarf, then fetched water for Sean Knight to wash his face.
By the time Sean Knight finished washing up, Zena had already brought over food, and as he ate, she immediately began to clean up the washing items.
Eating and watching the busy Zena, Sean Knight sighed, no wonder the rich from ancient times needed so many maid-servants to attend to them, it truly was a life of enjoyment.
After dinner, Zena left with the plate of food to the large kitchen in the courtyard.
Sean Knight walked out, planning to take a stroll in the courtyard to aid digestion, then saw the translator Zack Watson hurrying over.
"Mr. Knight, the two who delivered food to the elderly man have returned. They said that the old man lives at the ruins of what once was a school. There he lives with a few others around his age.
Their families are all gone, they have no source of food, so they can only pick up items they find useful in the ruins and exchange them for food in the marketplace..."
Sean Knight nodded and said:
"Then we will go take a look tomorrow."
At dusk, Zena Fitzgerald took Sean Knight’s clothes for washing, along with the maid-servants of Elijah Hastings and the others.
Elijah brought the package over to Sean Knight’s room.
"Boss, are these items antiques?"
"Yes," Sean Knight looked over them one by one, then said, "That small pile of copper coins is the most recent, but those parchments are older than them."
"Does that mean..." Elijah’s eyes lit up.
"There’s a good chance that there’s an ancient ruin nearby. However, it’s hard to say what we might find."
"Then boss, shall we..."
"Yes. Tell Lincoln Harrington and Douglas tonight that we’ll go check it out tomorrow. I’ll also give Elder Hassan a heads-up tonight to see if they will let us go there."
"Okay," Elijah nodded, they chatted a bit more, and once Zena returned, he left.
After dinner, Sean Knight found Hassan, who was planning to go out.
"Elder Hassan, we plan to go out and take a look around tomorrow," Sean Knight divulged frankly. "I personally enjoy treasure hunting, and today at the market I saw an old man selling some antiques. I’d like to go check it out and see if I can find anything worth money."
"Do you need a guide?" thought Hassan and then said, "Mr. Knight, you should be prepared for failure—since the Americans arrived, many people have come here to look for treasure from all over the world.
The area you want to visit, I know it well. Many people have been there before, so there’s a good chance you’ll only find things of little value."
"No worries, just count it as a leisure trip," seeing that Hassan had no objections, Sean Knight said, "If it’s okay, we can take Zack with us. I’ll ask Principal Miller if he wants to come along."
Clarence Hughes and Lincoln Harrington were target practicing behind the village and had not yet returned, showing their dedication.
"No problem," Hassan agreed, "Just be careful."
When it was almost dark, Clarence Hughes and Lincoln Harrington came back. During dinner, Sean Knight told Clarence about the plan.
"I won’t go," Clarence waved his hand, "I think I know the ruins you’re talking about. I’ve been there before on my previous visits, also with the hope of finding treasures. But honestly, that place has been turned over many times already.
It’s said there were quite a few valuable items initially, but during the American presence, antique dealers and treasure hunters from Europe and America came over and looted the place repeatedly, leaving it picked clean.
Now, although there are still people hoping to find something overlooked, there isn’t much left to uncover—even those with metal detectors can’t find any treasures!"
With Clarence disinterested, Sean Knight naturally didn’t press the issue.
Meanwhile, Elijah had already taken Lincoln away. When Lincoln returned, Clarence asked him while eating:
"Monitor Lincoln, shall we continue tomorrow?"
Lincoln shook his head and said:
"No, let Elder Hassan find someone else to help you train. Tomorrow I have to accompany the boss to that place—my mission is to protect him."
Disappointed, Clarence looked over at Sean Knight.
Laughing, Sean Knight said to Lincoln:
"You can stay if you want, after all, Elijah and Douglas are with us."
"No, boss. My duty is to protect you. Principal Miller is safe practicing gun skills in the village; there are plenty of people to teach him, and it’s secure. But it’s different when you’re outside. Plus, the attackers from before are still at large..."
With Lincoln stating this, Sean Knight didn’t protest further and neither did Clarence.
Indeed, in the tribe, he was safe no matter what. For Sean Knight venturing out, the situation was comparatively more complex, plus there was a clear and present danger, making it inherently unsafe.
If Clarence were to insistently request for the bodyguard to stay, that would indeed be asking for too much.
