Chapter 947: 527

"Our boss added a formation down there," Elijah Hastings chuckled, "so it’s definitely different now. By the way, what are you guys planning to do next?"

"Since we’ve made contact and the distance isn’t far, let’s not split up. We’ll come find you!" Douglas Cooper said with a cheeky grin:

"Our efficiency might not be as high as yours, but it’s not bad either. If we team up, it’s definitely going to be twice the result with half the effort!"

"Alright, come on over," Sean Knight replied.

"Good, we’ll be there soon. Oh, and we’ve got a bit of a problem over here..." Douglas Cooper glanced at the translator and said, "The translator is still with us. He hasn’t done any harm, and I can’t bring myself to deal with him..."

"Bring him along; I’ll take care of it," Sean Knight offered.

The translator, upon hearing he was about to be "handled," rolled his eyes and fainted.

Douglas Cooper tied up the translator and stuffed him into the car. He then scavenged through the three cars, found some odd spoils of war, torched the cars, and followed Elijah’s directions to join the others with Lincoln Harrington.

Several hours later, the two groups joined together. Sean Knight dragged the translator into the forest by the road, sprinkled some medicine powder on his face, chanted a few words, and the translator fell into a deep sleep.

"When he wakes up, he’ll have forgotten this memory," Sean Knight said, leaving the translator where he was and returning to the car.

"How much will he forget?"

"That depends on his fate. Safely, he’ll forget about seven or eight days’ worth. If his determination is weaker, then it’s more like ten days to half a month. Let’s go, we don’t need to worry about him."

The two cars drove to a small town ahead. During the meal, Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper quietly recapped their process of investigation over the past few days.

After splitting up with Sean Knight, they went to Hot Sea City. Pretending to be tourists after contacting the translator, they first inquired about the Xingya Guanyin Temple from the locals.

They dared not mention Bloody Earth Guanyin, for fear of its sensitivity.

Luckily, after just two days, they bribed for useful information; someone had seen a car from a certain joint-stock company enter the Xingya Guanyin Temple.

Lincoln and Douglas approached the joint-stock company, only to find it was a subsidiary of another company.

The man who had been to Xingya Guanyin Temple was kidnapped for interrogation, and he confessed that he was ordered by his superiors to deliver items to the temple.

That was five years ago. Moreover, before the incident at the temple, someone from the joint-stock company would deliver items there every month.

Lincoln and Douglas then tracked down an important figure from that joint-stock company.

Following leads, they actually caught Matsui Kogorou leading people into the mountains.

Of course, it cost a lot of money, but it was worth the effect.

Elijah also recounted their own process, and concluded:

"In the end, we found their ashes, plaques, and the Bloody Earth Guanyin statue, and burned them all. Including those damned people guarding the items, who ended up as ’high tombs’."

Elijah wasn’t completely sure about how Sean handled those items, merely assuming they had all been burned.

Emily Kelley couldn’t help but murmur:

"There was one plaque that didn’t get burned..."

Remembering the plaque Emily had "watered," Elijah chuckled without saying a word.

It was, after all, a bit embarrassing.

"So, what do we do next?" Douglas asked with a hint of regret.

He regretted missing out on the battle last night, considering it was a fight against ninjas!

Those seemingly mythical ninjas!

"Since you’ve already got the news, and there are five families supporting the Avalokitesvara Temple, we’ll just pick them off one by one. I suppose that mysterious organization should make a move by then, right?" Sean speculated. "By that time, we can just wait and take advantage of the situation."

"Great!" Douglas felt this plan suited his tastes perfectly.

"But you guys gather information first; I need to go back to my home country for a bit," Sean suddenly said. "There are some things I must deal with first."

"Don’t worry, boss, we’ll have everything taken care of by the time you return!" Douglas assured, full of confidence.

Sean believed his words.

Although they were slower than Sean and Elijah, their task was actually a bit more complicated.

After all, Sean and Elijah went straight to the point and thus were more likely to find clues.

Leaving Elijah, Lincoln, Douglas, and Emily to gather clues together, Sean boarded a plane and returned to his homeland.

His first stop was Nanjing City.

In Nanjing, Sean paid his respects at the Massacre Memorial Hall and flushed the ashes into the restroom.

Then, he scattered the crushed soil of the Bloody Earth Guanyin around the area.

With so many people coming to pay tribute and commemorate, the original owners of that bloody soil should find peace, right?

As for the ashes of the Class-B War Criminals’ plaques, Sean found another restroom and flushed them down there too.

This place seemed fitting for them, didn’t it?

Last, Sean sent some of the more valuable cultural relics he had collected from Xingya Guanyin Temple to the Museum here in a package, hoping that in this way they could be returned to their rightful owners for peace of mind.

This event even made the trending searches, and many people were trying to find out who sent these relics.

Having done all this, Sean felt the persistent resentment that had been lingering around him finally began to dissipate.

Maybe it was all in his head, maybe it was psychological, but he truly felt it.

Of course, it wasn’t over yet!

He still had to make a trip to Japan to pull out the four families and the shadowy hand behind the scenes—all together!

Otherwise, how could he face those compatriots who had perished at the hands of the Japanese Pirates?

Of course, what was taken from us also had to be reclaimed!

When Sean Knight set foot on Japanese soil again, Elijah and the others had already made some headway.

A storm of bloodshed was about to begin!
