Chapter 937: Chapter 524: No Matter How Deep It’s Hidden, It Can Be Found!_2

"That’s it!" Elijah Hastings said, "I remember its license plate."

"Alright, let’s follow it."

The two cars maintained a distance of four to five hundred meters and moved forward.

"Could we be discovered?" The sky was already brightening, but there were few cars on the road, some were overtaken, others rushed by, speeding past them.

Elijah was a bit worried; after all, the people in the car ahead were probably not ordinary people and would have the necessary alertness.

"Let’s slow down, there’s a car behind us, let’s wait for it to catch up." Sean Knight looked back and saw more cars coming up from behind and said, "As long as there are no forked roads, we should be able to keep up."

Once the cars behind them had caught up, Sean and his group’s car blended in and was no longer conspicuous.

The black car in front kept at a steady pace, driving for about an hour before turning onto another road.

The road they were now on had even fewer cars, so Emily Kelley, without waiting for Sean to order, slowed down even more.

The distance between the two cars grew wider, the target within sight became very small; the three of them guessed the other party probably wouldn’t notice them.

The black car continued ahead and entered a hilly area.

Now only two cars were left, back and front, and due to the terrain, the car ahead would occasionally disappear from their field of vision, causing Sean and his companions some concern as they occasionally checked for any forked roads on both sides.

Then, after cresting another hill, they were shocked to find that the black car had vanished!

It had really disappeared! Because the road ahead sloped downward, they could see almost seven or eight kilometers ahead; although occasionally the view was obstructed, the three of them stared at the road for quite a while and did not see the black car reappear!

"They must have turned off the carriage-way ahead, let’s turn back!" Sean decided on the spot—also, he had activated Sky Eye and discovered that indeed, there were no recent tire marks on the road ahead!

At this time, Xing Chan Temple was also in chaos!

Morning prayers were due, but at least one-third of the monks had not risen!

Even the ringing of bells failed to wake them, and those who had already gotten up were baffled and tried to rouse their roommates.

It turned out, some were awake, and some were not. The monks who did wake were not fully lucid, with vacant stares, some even drooling like imbeciles!

No matter how much they were called, they did not respond!

This was truly frightening!

Some monks immediately went out to report the incident to the higher-ups, but they found that the Senior Monk in charge of the other monks was also sleeping in his house, not having emerged!

That morning, chaos reigned in Xing Chan Temple, and then some of the eminent monks discovered that some of the Buddhist Tools and implements were missing from their quarters!

Then, the alarm bell, the sound of bells, and shouts all mixed into a cacophony!

The Eminent Monk living in the largest singular house discovered his daily symbol of worship, the Jade Buddha, was missing; although it was indeed a material possession, it had been brought to the temple by a saint when Xing Chan Temple was first established, all the way from the Tang Empire.

This absolutely could not be lost!

The Eminent Monk immediately went out to inform the Senior Monk about this matter, only to find that there was already turmoil outside!

The Senior Monk, who was usually up at this hour patrolling the entire temple, had also not risen!

It wasn’t until the temple’s people had thoroughly searched and found there were no outsiders present, and reported the incident to the police, that two hours had passed.

And at this time, Sean and his group’s car was slowly heading back, looking for traces of the black car.

"Here!" Sean suddenly shouted, "Turn down here!"

He pointed to a patch of grassland beside the road and said, "The car must have turned down here!"

Emily Kelley followed Sean’s directions and turned the car down, initially seeing no trace of the black car or even wheel tracks.

However, as they proceeded, passing the grassland and going behind a small mound of soil, they saw a line of fresh tire marks in the wet ground; it was apparent these marks were very recent, and an excited Emily exclaimed:

"This is the spot, Mr. Knight, you’re amazing!"

She immediately drove after the trail.

Although there was no clear path here, it was still possible to move forward, and gradually a trail emerged, presumably trodden by people; evidently, this was not an uninhabited and desolate place.

After driving about seven or eight kilometers into the area, they slowed down because all three of them saw in the distance, there was a forest with buildings featuring flying eaves, its entirety was not visible, but there were clearly several structures.

"The black car must have gone there," Sean said, "Let’s hide our car and have a look!"

"Shouldn’t we explore tonight?" Elijah asked, "Isn’t it too conspicuous to go now, in daylight?"

"That’s true," Sean considered and then said, "Let’s hide the car and keep watch here, and take some rest in the meantime; we can move in tonight."

Actually, if it were just Sean and Emily, they could have made their move right now.

But with Emily present, Sean did not want this brave girl to be thrust into danger; hence, waiting until nightfall was safer.

Emily drove the car behind the small hill and hid it. The three of them took their backpacks out of the car and had a picnic.

"Mr. Knight, there’s been an incident at Xing Chan Temple!" Bored, Emily opened her mobile phone and came across a news report, which she immediately shared with Sean.
