Chapter 925: I love you
Chapter 925: I love you
He and Elijah Hastings thought the same, could it be a conspiracy?
He went to look up the documents himself and found that indeed, a few years ago, due to a torrential rain, the Xingya Guanyin Temple, where the Bloody Earth Guanyin was located, was destroyed, leaving nothing behind.
Real or fake?
Elijah Hastings’ suggestion to Sean Knight was to go and see for himself before jumping to conclusions. It’s better to believe it and rule it out than to dismiss it and miss something.
If it really was destroyed, then the matter would be clean.
But if it wasn’t destroyed and the heavy rain was just a smoke screen, then this would need a thorough investigation!
Sean Knight agreed to Elijah Hastings’ plan.
Because of this, Sean Knight felt he needed to go there all the more.
Perhaps his Sky Eye would be able to see something after all.
Half a month later, Sean Knight flew to Ocean City.
Elijah Hastings and Douglas Cooper both flew there from Elijah Hastings’ home.
Lincoln Harrington was already in Ocean City.
To Sean Knight’s surprise, Douglas really had not gone back home—perhaps that home had truly broken his heart.
In a deluxe room of a certain hotel in Ocean City, Elijah Hastings was sharing his plan with the others:
"We will fly to Tokyo in groups. At present, this matter might seem trivial, but there’s a high possibility it could lead to significant consequences. So from the very beginning, we have to be careful."
Everyone agreed to this point. After all, if the opponents could worship the ashes of seven Class-A war criminals and the memorial tablets of thousands of Class-B Criminals there, there would naturally be a lot of attention on it.
"Alright, let’s take separate flights and enter the country within three days, then meet up at a specific location in Tokyo."
Seeing that no one had any objections, Elijah Hastings continued:
"Next, we need to take separate actions. Investigation and field inspection must be done. Since we don’t speak Japanese, we will need to hire two Japanese tour guides on site. I suggest we hire international students from Japan; that way, we have a smaller target, and because they are fellow countrymen, they are more likely to help us."
No one opposed this idea either.
"Alright, we’ll then split into two teams. Boss and I in one, Lincoln Harrington and Douglas in the other. We’ll do the on-site reconnaissance, and you two will explore around and gather intelligence."
Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper both nodded, indicating their agreement.
Having roughly settled on the plan and discussed the specifics for a while, the four men split up and prepared to take flights to Tokyo.
The reason they didn’t make use of Charles Young was that after the last incident, Sean Knight had become somewhat notorious in Japan. If he took a private plane again, and it was discovered by someone with intentions, that could lead to trouble.
Sean Knight now had the idea of acquiring several different identities for himself, though he wasn’t sure if that would be feasible.
After he and Elijah Hastings took a plane to Tokyo, they moved into a hotel.
"Boss, I’m going to find a tour guide. Do you want to come with me?"
"No need, I’ll get ready. I’m afraid of being recognized, which would be troublesome."
Sean Knight wasn’t joking. For someone like him, if he encountered someone with ulterior motives, he could indeed be recognized.
Tokyo had many universities, and shortly after Elijah Hastings went out, he found a suitable tour guide—a female college student from Nanjing of China, Emily Kelley.
"You’re going to Shizuoka Prefecture Atami City Izu Mountain?" Emily Kelley was a short-haired girl with a very straightforward personality. While eating in the Dining Hall, she said to Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings:
"The terrain there is not very good, and there are no notable historic relics. What are you going there for?"
Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings exchanged a glance, both aware that the matter of the Bloody Earth Guanyin had indeed been "overlooked" by some people, either intentionally or unintentionally.
"We’re going there to investigate some things." Sean Knight said frankly. His appearance had changed slightly, and unless it was someone he knew well, he usually wouldn’t be recognized— even with a photo for comparison.
"Then I suggest renting a car," Emily Kelley suggested, pointing to the Dining Hall, "Since you can afford to eat at such an upscale restaurant, you mustn’t be short of money. There’s no need to squeeze onto the Shinkansen. Renting a car might be expensive, but it’s more convenient."
She paused and then said:
"Additionally, I’m a Judo Black Belt, so don’t get any weird ideas!"
Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings both smiled wryly. The girl was indeed straightforward, saying whatever came to mind.
Emily Kelley had been studying here for a year and a half and was already familiar with various things. She helped them rent a car and then bought some necessary items for the trip, and they set off.
Emily Kelley drove, introducing the scenery and buildings along the roadside.
"Although the journey isn’t very long, I suggest that we stay overnight in Hot Sea City before going to Mount Izu. I heard there was torrential rain and a debris flow there once, so I don’t know if it’s safe now."
"No problem, we’ll do as you suggest," Sean Knight said. "To us, you’re the expert."
"Don’t even mention it, I am indeed half an expert," Emily Kelley boasted. "Although I’ve only been here for less than two years, I’ve already been working as a part-time tour guide for three months. The small domestic groups I received have mostly given me positive reviews."
Sean Knight smiled. With the girl’s personality, unless she encountered some persnickety or eccentric people, there usually wouldn’t be anything to complain about.
The three of them stayed in a relatively ordinary hotel in Stillwater City.
It was evident that although Emily Kelley said that Sean Knight and his company were not short of money, the hotel she recommended was economical and practical with good service. There was no attempt to rip them off just because they had money.
Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings behaved properly throughout. Even when Emily Kelley offered to show them local nightlife, such as drinking sake and seeing geishas, they complied.
