Chapter 917: Chapter 517: Embracing Grass to Catch Rabbits_3

"Lincoln, we’ve struck it rich!" Sean Knight said with a laugh, calling out to the distant Lincoln Harrington.

"Boss, shouldn’t we leave this place as soon as possible?"

Lincoln felt that this time they were a bit too lucky and it was best to leave early.

"Alright!" Sean was also amenable and immediately picked up the backpack and headed to the Off-road vehicle.

After several trips back and forth, the van was emptied, and the two got into the Off-road vehicle and drove away.

In the car, Sean turned on his Mobile Phone and looked at the Map. After a while, he said to Lincoln:

"Drive ahead for one kilometer, and there’s a forked road. We’ll turn there and take the small road, which will get us to the frontier at the fastest speed."

"Boss, you mean... smuggling out?" Lincoln speculated.

"Yeah. With these items, it’s impossible to get through Customs normally."

Lincoln knew very well that with so many items, if they went to Customs, they were definitely going to be confiscated, and they would be arrested.

At the upcoming forked road, the Car turned onto the smaller path.

Occasionally there were villages on both sides, but not many people.

The sky had turned completely dark.

"Let’s find a place to rest," Sean suggested, "it’s dangerous to travel at night."

Following his words, Lincoln drove the car into the Roadside Forest.

Both men were hungry, hurriedly fixed something to eat, and then took turns resting.

As dawn was breaking, Sean was woken up by a roaring sound in the sky.

In the distance, a helicopter circled away.

"Boss, I’m afraid we need to think of a new plan!" Lincoln pointed to the helicopter that circled back and said, "That big fella up there, if our car wasn’t hidden in the trees, we’d probably have been exposed by now."

Sean looked up and sure enough, the helicopter had flown back, seemingly searching along the Road.

"Then drive the car into the Forest, find a hidden place and hide it," Sean said. "We can come back for it later."

Lincoln felt it was a pity to just leave such a great wealth behind, and he suggested:

"How about we stay here and guard it until they leave, and then we drive away at night?"

Sean nodded and said:

"Of course, that’s doable. However, I suspect these people have ill intentions—I guess the source of the chaos in the City has been cleared up. So now they can spare the effort to track down the lost gold.

"We can hide, that’s not a problem. The problem is, I’m afraid those that come tracking might not only be the helicopters up above. If Ground Forces come as well, we’d have no choice but to run."

Lincoln knew Sean was making sense.

"But for now, standing guard is fine," Sean continued, "Let’s pack some Money and gold in our backpacks first. If we really get caught up by those people, it’ll be easier to leave lightly equipped."

So the two of them filled their backpacks with some money and gold.

Because helicopters were circling in the sky from time to time, the two only took the chance when the helicopter flew away to drive the car deeper into the Forest, a good distance from the highway, and carried out some basic camouflage.

As time ticked by, if all went well until nighttime, they could take advantage of the darkness to drive away.

But in the afternoon, Sean’s expression suddenly changed, and he said to Lincoln:

"Let’s go, let’s leave quickly! A convoy is coming, and it sounds like they have dogs!"

As if on cue with his words, the distant sound of barking dogs could be heard.

Lincoln’s face changed, and he immediately got out of the car, cautiously holding his Gun in the direction of the barking.

Sean took the opportunity to put all the gold and money from the trunk into the spatial realm, then got out of the car, and together with Lincoln, ran deeper into the Forest.

After a distance, Sean paused to scatter some powder behind them.

Curiously holding his Gun, Lincoln asked:

"Boss, what’s that?"

"It’s Powder of medicinal plants. I’m trying to see if it can confuse the dogs’ noses."

With the dogs following, even if they were very capable, two legs might not outrun four—especially since the Opponent was numerous and strong.

After running for over one kilometer, they heard the barking from the direction they came from getting louder.

Lincoln’s face changed:

"They’ve found the car!"

The concentrated barking meant they had found their target.

Sean waved his hand and said:

"It’s already good enough, we’ve found some unexpected wealth at least. Compared to those who died, we’re very lucky already!"

Lincoln nodded, having to admit that it was true.

The two of them continued toward the frontier with their backpacks, following the direction indicated on the Mobile Phone.

The sky had gone completely dark, and the two men pitched a tent under a big tree, ate some simple food, and then took turns resting.

During the Night Watchman duty, both men were extremely vigilant, fearing that the dogs hadn’t been confused by the powder and would follow their scent.

Fortunately, they had A peaceful night. Apart from a few wild animals that were scared away after smelling food and thinking of a nighttime feast, there was no other noise.

In the daytime, they continued toward the frontier.

Although there were villages and small towns along the way, the two men didn’t enter them, instead, they skirted around them.

Occasionally, they could hear the sound of artillery or see traces of missiles streaking across the sky, but the two men just watched and then continued on their way.

Helicopters still passed overhead from time to time, which made Lincoln a bit puzzled:

"Didn’t they already find our car? The gold and money were all in it, what else are they looking for? For the bit of cash in our backpacks? That seems unlikely, doesn’t it?"

Sean waved his hand and said:

"Who cares. Let’s go our way, get to the frontier as soon as possible, leave here, and then we’ll be safe."

Lincoln knew this was the truth and stopped pondering, continuing toward the frontier with Sean.

They crossed vast open fields, traversed through large expanses of jungle, waded across what were once fertile lands now turned into barren plains, and finally arrived at the boundary line one evening.

"Let’s rest a bit, eat something, and after the latter half of the night, we’ll cross over," Sean decided, looking at the iron wire mesh in the distance.

Just as the two had found a Remote place to prepare some food, they heard a burst of gunshots from afar!

What’s happening?
