Chapter 912 - 516
Chapter 912: 516
Lincoln Harrington, although he couldn’t see Sean Knight’s enemies, had a lot of confidence in him.
Sean Knight was proud of his good luck, but he never squandered it—or rather, he never sought death because of it.
Now, his movements were exceedingly careful.
As he moved forward, Sky Eye was active, constantly observing his surroundings, ready to immediately open fire at the slightest sign of movement!
Sean Knight’s direction of advance was toward the Main Hall.
He had trekked through here once before and was somewhat familiar with the terrain.
Under the flower wall at the corner of the Main Hall, a man clutched his pistol tightly in one hand while his other hand pressed against a wound on his shoulder, biting his teeth and working hard to suppress any groans of pain.
He had never expected Sean Knight’s reaction to be so quick; he had fired only two shots, and his opponent had already located his hiding spot and struck back!
His opponent’s gun skills were too precise. He clearly saw that his opponent didn’t wear any Night Vision Equipment, yet with a casual glance and a swift counterattack, he had been hit!
If it weren’t for his quick reaction, he would already be a corpse!
All he could do now was pray that his opponent wouldn’t pursue him.
Listening to the gunshots outside, it seemed there was chaos everywhere. If he could just endure this moment and wait for the commotion to intensify, he might get a chance to escape.
He was deep in thought when suddenly he got the feeling that something was wrong!
On instinct, he disregarded the pain from his wound and rolled toward the inner side of the Main Hall for cover!
If he could just make it inside the Main Hall, there would be much more room to maneuver!
However, the next series of bullets came his way, ruthlessly sweeping across his body and spraying up clouds of blood, letting him realize in that last moment before death what regret truly meant!
Why on earth had he insisted on getting involved in this matter?
He could have stayed safely in the surveilling safe house!
But now, no amount of regret could change the outcome.
Darkness engulfed the man.
When Sean Knight fired, he didn’t hesitate for a moment. After confirming his opponent’s death, he had no intention of searching for any spoils of war and immediately turned to leave.
This place was fraught with trouble, absolutely not a place to linger.
With the ongoing gunfight outside, using this opportunity to leave was the wisest course of action!
As he passed the injured man, Sean Knight had no intention of firing another shot. Since his opponent had not seen him, there was no need for additional killing.
When he left the Manor Wall, he saw not far away on the spacious street, vehicles and armed people passing by, their movements hurried, occasionally firing shots, with explosions intermittently breaking the night’s silence.
Sean Knight shook his head slightly and quickly made his way to the apartment in the cover of night.
Lincoln Harrington was already waiting at the Staircase Entrance.
"Boss, how did it go?"
"It’s done," Sean Knight said vaguely. "The toughest part is already taken care of. For the rest, we just need to stay put here."
Although Lincoln knew his boss was capable, he hadn’t expected that the most difficult part would be resolved just like that.
Didn’t they say they were just going in to gather some information?
How did it end up with the matter being settled?
Was there no need to move the items out?
No need to find the truck for the big shipment?
Could it be that the boss had another hidden force following?
Or perhaps, the boss...
Lincoln felt hesitant to continue thinking along those lines.
Sean Knight, on the other hand, hadn’t thought so much about it. Upon entering the apartment, he washed his face and said:
"Later, we’ll take turns resting. In the daytime, we’ll see how things are. If not, we’ll change locations."
"You go rest first, boss," Lincoln gestured with his hand. "I’m not tired; I can keep watch. Despite the lively scene outside, it seems it’s all happening near the streets. I don’t think it’ll affect us here."
Sean Knight didn’t stand on ceremony and rested.
With the matter already settled, he felt relaxed and soon fell asleep.
The second day, he was awoken by the smell of a delicious meal.
When he got up, he saw Lincoln had already prepared porridge and fixed up some vegetables, waiting for him.
After breakfast, Sean Knight took out his mobile phone and saw there was a signal; he sent a message to Lester Francis, forwarding the photos he took last night.
It wasn’t long before Lester sent a message back, asking, "Can I call you?"
Sean Knight phoned Lester.
"Mr. Knight, I really didn’t expect you to be so efficient! Have you already gotten inside that museum?" Lester’s voice sounded excited.
"Yes, there was a bit of a mess nearby last night, and we took the chance to break in," Sean Knight said casually.
"That’s great!" exclaimed Lester. "So, how do you plan to get these items out? Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. I’ll send you some documents. You just need to remove some of the key items."
"That’s doable. Send them to me, and I’ll figure it out," Sean Knight replied. "Although it’s complicated, and there are several groups monitoring the area, I think we still have a chance."
"You can let Peter Smith handle some of the tasks." Lester was naturally aware of the risks involved in undertaking such activities in this environment and suggested, "He should comply."
"I’m afraid that’s unlikely," Sean Knight said, chuckling coldly. "He refused to accompany us outside the city and stayed back with the car. So, I don’t think he understands the word ’comply’!"
"What?" Lester’s composure slipped, "How dare he do that?"
Following his anger, Lester apologetically said to Sean Knight:
