Chapter 872: Chapter 502: Desecrating Ancestral Graves, Counted as Accumulating Virtue?_3

Buddhists believe that this is the footprint left by Shakyamuni while preaching (some also believe it’s the footprint he left when he departed the mundane world, the left footprint on Adam’s Peak, and the right footprint in the Phra Phutthabat area of Saraburi Province in Thailand);

Hindus regard it as the footprint of the great god Siva;

Muslims, Jews, and Christians think it signifies where Adam (referred to as Adan in Islam) stood on one foot for a thousand years after being expelled from Eden;

And the Indian Saint Thomas Sect believes it is one of the miracles displayed by Thomas the Apostle, one of the Disciples of Jesus, when he came here to preach.

The many claims have turned the mountain into a sacred place in the hearts of the believers of these sects, especially for Buddhists and Hindus.

Just think, these are the footprints left by a holy person—they are definitely worth paying homage to!

In fact, this place is no less significant than the Holy City.

Every year there is a pilgrimage season here, but because people from domestic areas are not so keen on these matters, unless they are professionals, they generally don’t know too much about it.

"Since this is a sacred place for the four major religions, couldn’t there possibly be some treasures hidden here?"

Sean Knight was joking when he said this, but to his surprise, Cheryl Suweton not only didn’t scold him for his words but her eyes lit up:

"It’s possible! Let’s go and have a look!"

Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper exchanged glances in the car but said nothing more.

However, they were thinking pretty much the same thing:

Family members do indeed think alike! Are these two, mother and son, throwing dog food at us, or are they up to no good?

After a car and boat trip, they arrived in Sri Lanka, and joined a local tour group to Adam’s Peak.

The tour group consisted of people heading to Adam’s Peak from all over the place.

From Sean Knight’s observation, most of the people were there on a pilgrimage, with only a few who had come along to visit like them.

Because when it came to Adam’s Peak, those planning to go on a pilgrimage all looked solemn, as if discussing something very serious.

Which made it awkward for Sean Knight and his group to say anything.

Joining a tour group was mainly for keeping a low profile, so as not to attract attention.

With Sean Knight’s current ability, hiring a professional tour guide wouldn’t have been a problem. But if they had done that, it would have been much more noticeable if they wanted to do some extra activities.

It was less likely to be discovered while blending in with the general public.

Adam’s Peak is more than 2,000 meters high, the tallest peak in the southern part of the country, looking a bit like a dormant volcano from a distance.

"...Please do not bring alcoholic beverages when climbing the mountain," the tour guide reminded everyone while leading the way.

Most people coming here were aware of the rules, so it was quite orderly and everyone seemed willing to comply.

The tour guide talked a lot, and Sean Knight found it a bit overwhelming.

No swimming allowed, it was best to bring as few items as possible; because it was too hot during the daytime, it was more convenient to climb at night, but it was colder etc.

Following the guide to the base of the mountain, some people dispersed, and Sean Knight and his group decided to leave the tour and "climb" on their own.

"Let’s take advantage of the night to climb the mountain, avoid the main path, and see if we can find anything," Sean Knight shared his plan, "We’ll search as we go, and when we get to the top, we can take a look at the Sacred Footprint and then head straight back."

"Okay." Cheryl Suweton had a small metal detector in her backpack, confident.

Nightfall came, and even though it wasn’t the Full Moon Festival, the street lamps along the path were lit, and the road up the mountain was clearly visible.

There were many people climbing, but most were mainly focused on their own footsteps.

So when Sean Knight and the others "inadvertently" left the mountain path and slipped into the woods, nobody paid much attention.

Sean Knight and the three others had good night vision; Cheryl Suweton, whether from spending much time with Sean Knight or for some other reason, could also see better than usual at night.

Thus, the four of them did not have much difficulty traveling through the mountain terrain, even at night.

As soon as they were a distance from the trail, Cheryl Suweton turned on the metal detector.

No sooner had they swept it across the mountainside than the alarm sounded.

The group was surprised, and Cheryl Suweton quickly turned the volume down.

That was a stroke of luck!

Once they pinpointed the specific location, they turned off the metal detector and pulled out their folding shovels to start digging.

Before long, they had uncovered some metal coins buried in the soil.

Nobody knew who had buried them there.

As none of them were believers in gods or Buddha, they simply took the coins with them.

Continuing forward, Sky Eye was always on; since they came to have fun, Sean Knight occasionally led Cheryl Suweton to find some buried items.

The items had not been buried for a long time, only a few hundred years at most, but Cheryl Suweton dug them up with great joy.

Without realizing it, they had already reached the top of the mountain.

They quickly stowed the shovels and metal detector and blended back into the group of tourists.

At the mountain’s summit, where a main hall had been built over the Sacred Footprint, Sean Knight felt a throbbing in his Sky Eye.

At first, it felt strange, but then he understood.

With so many people paying homage, it was only natural for there to be a reaction from the Power of Faith!

But this was no antique; even if one wanted to take it, it was not something that could be carried away!

Though it was night, there were still a lot of tourists, and Sean Knight and his group obediently followed the line to the Sacred Footprint.

Through Sky Eye, he saw the area around the footprint emanating a thick, milky white light, but it wasn’t blinding at all.

Sean Knight and everyone else slowly circled toward the footprint engraving.

Some people had already knelt down to worship.

Sean Knight and his three companions were among the few who remained standing.

Suddenly, in the eyes of the onlookers, the Sacred Footprint burst into a dazzling light!

At that moment, Sean Knight felt a strand—a very thin strand—of the milky white light winding towards him!

Whether he accepted it or not, that strand of white light enveloped him—though faint, it made Sean Knight sense the purity of the energy within!

Luckily at that moment, everyone was marveling at the revealed holy sign of the footprint, not noticing the anomaly on Sean Knight!

Sean Knight comfortably absorbed the pure energy, even getting a sense of its uniqueness!

After all, the faith given by followers of a different religion naturally felt different.

But very quickly, Sean Knight felt a series of images appear in his mind!
