Chapter 866: Chapter 500: Making Money Can Also Be Indirect_2

"Shouldn’t be too little, I guess?" Elijah Hastings was somewhat skeptical, "It seems that Dutt Rivera has quite a high regard for this snake."

"I swapped it for wood," Sean Knight gestured with his hands.

"500 square?" Elijah Hastings guessed.

"Roots, they calculate it by roots here."

"500 roots? That’s quite a bargain." Elijah Hastings wasn’t without knowledge; she knew there was plenty of good wood to be found in there.

"Guess again," Sean Knight said with a smile.

"5000 roots?" Elijah Hastings was a bit surprised, "Isn’t that a bit exaggerated?"

"Add another zero," Sean Knight said, laughing, "You’re underestimating just how important this snake is to them!"

"Holy shit!" Elijah Hastings’ mouth hung open, "This one snake, it’s like straight-up trading for a billionaire! There’re lots of valuable woods in that jungle!"

Sean Knight smiled proudly without saying a word.

"It turns out that the treasures we’ve been looking for in the jungle for more than half a month aren’t even as valuable as this snake!" Elijah Hastings exclaimed with a sigh, "Now I realize that making money isn’t necessarily about sticking to precious metals. If you can create a unique product, then the money really comes rolling in fast!"

Although turning these woods into cash would require a process, Elijah Hastings didn’t think this would be a problem for the boss.

Dutt Rivera was carrying the wine goblet, cautious as he made his way to his bedroom, eager to handle the matter. HarudaTomoko, who could hardly wait, stopped him halfway.

"Dutt, I have something I want to talk to you about." HarudaTomoko noticed the snake in the bottle. She also knew that the snake was caught by Sean Knight, but didn’t think it was particularly valuable.

It was just a deviant species; at most, it could be exchanged for several tens of thousands of dollars, right?

However, Sean Knight was quite the businessman, selling it to Dutt Rivera for a sure premium.

Of course, HarudaTomoko’s idea of "not cheap" was also capped at several tens of thousands of dollars.

"Can we talk about this tomorrow?" asked Dutt Rivera, who had just received the Divine Serpent and was in a good mood, responding patiently to HarudaTomoko, "I’ve got something important to do right now..."

"What important thing? Is it to settle this snake?" HarudaTomoko joked, under the impression that Dutt Rivera wouldn’t have anything particularly important to do. In her mind, he was all about enjoyment — living it up as if he never had to worry about money.

"Of course," Dutt Rivera believed that Sean Knight was brought in by HarudaTomoko and that their relationship should be closer. Since Sean understood the importance of the Serpent Deity to him, HarudaTomoko should have no reason to be unaware of it and so he replied:

"This is our Serpent Deity... more important than any other thing!"

Saying that caught HarudaTomoko off guard, leading her to take the snake more seriously and she tentatively asked:

"So... did you buy it from Sean? How much did it cost you?"

When HarudaTomoko first saw Sean insisting on bringing the snake back, she was somewhat puzzled.

Although the snake was double-headed and quite rare, it was almost certain to be the main culprit of the snake disaster.

Shouldn’t such a creature be killed off early rather than risk another snake calamity?

But at that time, it was Sean who had saved her during the snake disaster. Without him, HarudaTomoko herself would have died in the jungle.

So, she respected Sean’s decision, including bringing the snake back.

This didn’t mean she wouldn’t privately criticize Sean’s actions.

But seeing how much Dutt Rivera valued this snake, HarudaTomoko began to understand the reasons behind Sean’s actions.

"It didn’t cost any money," Dutt Rivera patiently explained, "Sean didn’t want money for it. I was actually planning to trade my portion of the Treasure for it, but Sean said he didn’t need it."

Dutt Rivera’s share of the Treasure was worth at least several hundred thousand dollars!

The items dug up from the cave were worth several hundred thousand, not to mention there was quite a bit obtained from the Old Monk’s bedroom, amounting to nearly a million dollars.

And Dutt Rivera’s share was substantial!

Yet Sean Knight didn’t even consider it!

HarudaTomoko immediately felt that what Dutt Rivera held in his hands was much more valuable than a golden snake!

She asked cautiously:

"Then what did Sean want?"

If it wasn’t money, then it must be something even more precious.

"Wood, he wanted wood," Dutt Rivera figured there was no need to hide the trade, as Sean would certainly speak of it as well:

"I traded 50,000 pieces of wood for this Divine Serpent... Alright, the Divine Serpent is getting impatient, I have to settle it now. We’ll talk about everything else tomorrow!"

Having said that, Dutt Rivera hurried back to the bedroom; he had genuinely noticed an impatient look in the eyes of the snake!

HarudaTomoko was left with her mouth agape.

50,000 pieces of wood!

Even though Dutt Rivera didn’t specify what kind of wood, with a little thought, Sean wouldn’t pick the common, worthless ones, would he?

After a while, HarudaTomoko finally walked back somewhat dazed. She couldn’t fathom how, after busying herself for so long, what she got was only worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Sean had simply followed her around and casually caught a snake, and in return, he got wood worth over a hundred million dollars!

Was there no justice in the world?

Before returning to her room, HarudaTomoko ran into Cheryl Suweton.

"Why do you look so awful?" Cheryl Suweton asked with concern, "Is there a problem with your wound again?"

"I’m fine," HarudaTomoko forced a smile and said, "Really, it’s nothing. By the way, do you remember the double-headed green snake that Sean caught?"

"Of course, I do," Cheryl Suweton nodded, "I remember. He even told me that the snake was quite remarkable."

"It is pretty remarkable," agreed HarudaTomoko, "He’s already sold the snake to Dutt. Do you know how much he sold it for?"
