Chapter 840: Chapter 491: The Tiger Comes!_3
Skeletons were indeed present, but James Ross had no interest in disturbing their rest.
Fearing another attack from wild animals, the Treasure Hunting Team indeed sped up their actions significantly.
By the end of the day, before it was completely dark, the entire relic site had been thoroughly searched.
All the finds were finally estimated and could be worth tens of thousands of US dollars.
The main haul consisted of some gemstones of decent quality and some ancient coins that should be worth some money.
For an average treasure-hunting team, this would be considered a pretty good haul.
But for Sean Knight and his team, it really wasn’t anything remarkable.
Even HarudaTomoko, who was participating in a treasure hunt for the first time, looked distinctly disappointed.
Not to mention Cheryl Suweton and Elijah Hastings, who had followed Sean and witnessed treasures worth tens of millions or even over a hundred million.
So at dinner time, everyone was a bit downhearted.
Very few people talked.
After dinner, the Guide Leader gathered everyone and said,
"Tomorrow, we have two directions to choose from. In the Southeast Direction, there used to be a village that is no longer inhabited. In the Southwest Direction, there was once a Temple built inside a Mountain Cave, but according to those who discovered it later, half of the Temple is now submerged in water.
Which way shall we go tomorrow?"
The eyes of the others turned towards HarudaTomoko.
HarudaTomoko opened the simplistic map, looking left and right, but couldn’t make anything out.
James Ross reached out and said, "Let me have a look."
HarudaTomoko hesitated, but ultimately handed the map to Sean Knight.
Sean just glanced at it, then passed the map to Elijah Hastings beside him.
"You...!" HarudaTomoko was infuriated.
He had handed the map to James because he trusted him and felt that Sean deserved to view the map. But he did not believe Elijah Hastings deserved the same right.
However, neither Sean nor Elijah paid any heed to Haruda’s thoughts. They studied the map closely, and finally asked HarudaTomoko,
"Is this circled area the key range we should be focusing on?"
"Hmmph, yes," HarudaTomoko replied, still quite upset.
But Sean didn’t care about his childish behavior and said to the Guide,
"Let’s go to the village first and then to the Temple. Both places are within the suspect range."
With that said, the Guide didn’t object and nodded.
That night they encountered no attacks, which was a relief for everyone and allowed for a good night’s sleep.
Then everyone packed up and set off.
This time, HarudaTomoko didn’t ask Douglas Cooper to carry her belongings.
The leading Guide did not increase the pace as he had before, and the group moved forward carefully.
The jungle here was scattered, with many animals living among it.
Sean and his team even spotted a troop of monkeys in the trees. The monkeys looked curiously at them, and while neither side showed any ill intent, they maintained considerable caution and restrained their behavior.
To accommodate Haruda and to avoid the risk of moving too fast and being unable to respond to an attack, the group rested twice in the middle of their journey and reached the Ruin Site of the village just before sunset.
What surprised Sean about the village Ruin Site was that either because it was relatively more modern or for other reasons, many of the houses in the village had not yet collapsed.
While one could not say they were still inhabitable, at least the buildings were still standing, not completely engulfed by the jungle.
The roads in the village were also discernible.
"While it’s still light out, let’s check the village for dangers. If there aren’t any, we can camp here tonight," suggested the Guide Leader.
Sean thought it was a good idea, as camping in this relatively intact village would be much safer than in the wilderness.
"There aren’t any ghosts in this village, right?" Chika asked with a hint of fear.
"There’s no such thing," Cheryl Suweton retorted, knowing what Chika was referring to, and then followed Sean to inspect the village.
The village was quiet, and when Sean and his team entered, several Wild Rabbits dashed out from a broken house and fled into the distance.
Sean activated his Sky Eye, cautiously scanning around, quickly making a discovery.
"There’s something here!" Sean called out, and the others immediately converged.
"There’s the smell of blood inside; it must be a place where a wild animal has been feeding," Sean mentioned.
Presumably alerted by the sound of footsteps and Sean’s voice, a leopard suddenly dashed out from Inside Courtyard, and before anyone could react, it disappeared into the shrubbery.
Elijah Hastings glanced inside the Courtyard with his rifle, laughing as he said,
"This leopard just hunted a black deer. Now, that’s great, we’ve got ourselves an extra dish for tonight."
Sean also chuckled.
Lincoln Harrington dragged the deer out and found that it had only been drained of blood by the leopard’s bite to the throat and had not been eaten yet.
The Deer weighed about thirty kilograms, and after skinning, there was a decent amount of Deer Meat left.
"You all continue on, I’ll deal with this deer," Lincoln said, taking out a Knife to begin skinning.
Having the chance for an additional meal was good news for everyone who had been mainly eating Convenience Foods for the past two days.
So the next search plans in the village quickened significantly, with Douglas Cooper already discussing whether roasted black deer would taste nice.
The village was small, the inhabitants hadn’t been gone for long, so the search was relatively quick.
So when everyone finished searching and gathered in the large courtyard decided upon for camping, it was not completely dark yet.
Lincoln had already skinned the deer and set up a fire, planning to roast the venison.
A pot was also placed on the fire, ready to boil a soup.
Sean had already checked the village earlier and concluded that it had been abandoned by its inhabitants. They had taken anything worth money with them, so there wouldn’t be much to find in this village.
They could only hope for something at the next location. If not, morale might sink to rock bottom.
However, he couldn’t express this thought; they had to wait until the search was complete to announce their findings.
As the roasted venison was almost ready and the Fragrance wafted through the air, just as everyone was preparing to eat, a wild animal’s howl was heard in the distance.
"This is bad, it’s a Bengal Tiger!" the Guide exclaimed, his face turning pale with concern!
